   Local Lit Fest
The school-wide Literary Festival has just post the poems that will go to our conference to compete and get awarded. Four of the poems are mine! Of the six I submitted, four of them made it.

This means that I'll have attended the awards ceremony every year that I've participated. Four for four; I like these odds.

The poems that made it are:

"All Is Right"

soft green grass beneath my back,
the dome of sky overhead,
and a quiet whisper of breeze,
are the peace that holds me.
constellations that ripple in the sky,
stars winking with their secrets,
and the gentle touch of nature,
so mysterious, keeps me awake.

on this lawn, on the ground,
I lie awake while wonders abound.
the world is calm, asleep in the night,
it's nice feeling all is right.

there's magic still in the world,
dragons and fantasy misunderstood,
and it seems to be waiting,
just this moment, for me to rest,
to relax, and to let go.
waiting for me to
unlearn the laws of science,
forget the lies of society,
and let myself be free.

"After The End"

skating across the surface of the mind,
an idea that's lost I'm trying to find.
the fall of the world is far from complete
though the time remaining does deplete.
the rain not fallen, never will come
until after the day the world is done.
the sky is choked with a smog so thick
day is night the world is tricked.

after the end, the sky will clear,
away will fade all the drear,
the world will be as it once was,
the universe will spin as it always does.
nature will revive its heart and soul.
the bells of doom no longer toll;
instead lie broken beneath the moss
that owns the world humanity lost.

"Trail"

the clock does spin
on narrow spoke;
a path I'd take,
if one were took.

the trails did come,
and passed away;
they wandered 'bout;
came not to stay.

bare ground ruffles,
for leaves be gone
from weathered dusk
to wakened dawn.

though trees do bow
o'er thy head,
brush leaves away
and bare ground tread.

"Name"

and through the wind,
   and through the rain;
      i will not stop,
         i will not rein.
my thoughts do tread,
   my thoughts do trail:
      a glittered path
         to the grail.
it is my goal.
   it is my gain.
      it is my life.
         it is my name.

This is definitely soem of the best poetry I've ever written.
