Grrrrr
OKAY! If ANYONE can tell me, in basic, simple English, any of the following, I would be very, very grateful. I'm tired of trying to decifer the physics and geometry talk on all these web pages.
What is Aether? The hypothetical element aether?
What are, in list fashion (1st:, 2nd:, 3rd:,) the eleven dimensions?
I hearby present these questions to the MyOtaku community at large. I am looking for simplified, basic answers. If I were to discuss these in a science fiction story, I should like to understand WHAT THEY ARE OR THEORETICALY ARE. A full paragraph on the quantum theories simply does not make sense to me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimension THIS was very little help. Okay, I think I understand the 1st-4th. No, wait.... Here's what I got:
1st: A line (this does not help. distance?)
2nd: A square (this doesn't help much at all.)
3rd: Space
4th: Time
5th-10th: ...??? -_-
11th: String Theory (which is...? okay, I just plain forgot what this one is.)
Aether: Something to do with time and space.
It's lunch time, people, and I need to do some homework. Many thanks to anyone who can help. I really like to play around with scientific fact and theory, which is why I am so desperately seeking to understand these most basic elements of science and science fiction.
