Here's a random poll to test out the polling script again.
Is it random or is it a sign of things to come? (*Play evil music*)

Exciting times!
I was tired of that god-awful service we used for theOtaku's polls.
They put tons of ads up, didn't save results past 15 polls at a time, etc.
So I purchased a state of the art polling script and installed it on our servers. Here's the first poll I made with it, for you:
Update: Classic Adam maneuver. I was unhappy about a few things with the polling software (didn't display # of votes, bars were on top of results not below), so I just went into the code and changed it.

Feel a little faint, so not much work today.
I removed timed voting from fan manga...there was a bug so that if you updated an older fan manga, voting wasn't allowed anymore. . .
Thanks to Moon Costumes. They have graciously agreed to sponsor our entire cosplay site for the next 8 months. Check out the site to see what I mean. This was a great win-win arrangement, am very happy about it.

Isn't it really easy to get from Seattle to Vancouver? I'd love to buy SomeGuy a beer; plus I hear that Vancouver is an amazing city.
What an amazing day. Launched artist tracking, did some innovative programming on a side thing, saw Paprika, lifted weights, and, most important, when I went to Dunkin Donuts, they gave me TWO for $1.
What could be better than half priced donuts???

I think Gail would agree with me on this--Mariskah and SunfallE have been doing an amazing job of late and of all time moderating the various sites. Great job!
Also, I love how AtsuiCon is naming their breast cancer awareness charity auction "Race For The Cure" - their dedicating this auction to Komen was the best thing that came out of our obsessive coverage of the AnimeFF scandal. Click here for more details.

An Epic Trip
I'm going to LA for AX from June 28th to July 2nd.
Then I'm going from LA to Seattle to visit a friend from July 2nd to July 5th.
Then I'm back to NYC. The best part? I'll have very limited internet access. I need a break from it all :-).
My epic book, Artpreneurship, launched today.
It's selling for $29.95 with 25% of proceeds going for Arthritis research. I have a customer list I call the "Velegant VIP" list. Basically anyone who's bought something from us gets advance notice and a discount on anything we do in the future.
VIP members got a HUGE surprise today in that I offered a monster-discount on the book. My way of saying thanks :-).
Another innovative thing I'm doing with Artpreneurship is that I set aside a number of free copies per month for artists who can't afford the $29.95 price tag. I think it's a positive service for the art community.

Convention Meetup MyO
Gail setup this convention MyO. Since me and her will both be at AX (and probably other conventions), it'll be a central place for us to coordinate meetups with members.

What I'm Working On...
Massin is 100% deployed on AOO: Sessions, leaving me with the task of theOtaku programming for a while.
My goal is to do all the incremental programming we need in preparation for the next version of theOtaku and to fix some lingering bugs/problems.
My hope is that Massin will get a solid version of Sessions up, we can get it to a stable state, and then he can hop into theOtaku and usher in our new version with all the smaller features accounted for.
SPOILER ALERT:
Right now I'm working on giving people the capability to "favorite" artists they like, not just individual works. This is a huge feature and it's actually not THAT difficult to do, which is why it's first on my list.
Before you start typing "But Adam, I want feature X, Y, and Z!" remember that I probably have it written down on my to do list...

Advertising
I probably spent 80 hours the last 2 weeks on our advertising platform/processes/and sales.
Having an advertising and business background, this is my specialty :-).
As a result of this effort, we're going to have some great and targeted ad campaigns running in the near future. Just check out the Brickfish game art contest one as an example.

If someone introduces themselves as a "starry eyed artist" what would that make you think of them?
BTW, I fell in love with this picture. I'm using it for theO's ad sales...it's meant to convey numbers, art, and Japan.
