Phantom PMs
Do you have any phantom PMs now? I just ran a huge script that's supposed to take care of them. Take a look.

Phantom PMs are when our site says you have X new messages but you look and can't find them.

I had a horrifying night last night after I finished my blog post and today was grey. Not in the mood for New Years celebrations, it'll take me some time to recover.

Something's wrong with my dog. She was fine this morning but suddenly has trouble walking and is limping disoriented around the house. In my room she walked back and forth for 15 minutes without purpose, not pacing but walking a few steps forward then a few steps backward. She doesn't respond to me at all, even reeling when I pet her. I hope she's better tomorrow :-(.

What a great day today, in addition to finding and reading 50% of a new book (I'm a speed reeder, fun fact), I also made progress on my business for artists guide, and even found three voice actresses for my future hentai project*

* Read theOtaku for context.

Spoiler Alert
The feature story for the first issue of our newsletter shall be: "10 Things You Didn't Know About The New Art Of Otaku."

I initially thought it would be cool to launch the new AOO on 1/1/2007. Ah well, mid/late January isn't bad, either. I'm willing to delay it as long as it takes to get right.

BTW, the design isn't pink.

How Long Have I Been Doing This For?
I started producing web stuff in late 1998. Now it's late 2006. This means I've been doing it for 8 years. YIKES!

So what was 15 year-old Adam like? You can check out his first "big" site, still online, at this address. Linked is the first issue of Ask Adam, ever. Hm...I guess I haven't changed much, eh?

I recommend clicking around and reading some of my old articles/news. Hehe, I can't believe the guestbook entries still exist! (Though you have to click to get through them.)

Even at 15 my goal was to create a sustainable, growing, and successful business more than it was to create a simple website. One thing that makes me a little sad is that, 8 years later, we're still not there yet. Maybe 10 is the right number?

Anyway, Christmas always brings out the nostalgic. Merry Xmas to our A+ team. And as a special Xmas gift, Gail (Panda) actually updated her site ;-).

Be Nice To Your Delivery Man...It Could Be Me
I delivered pizzas tonight, my tips ranged from $2.50 - $4.50. I could tell the girl who only tipped $2.50 was a little embarassed. She had thought her order was $12 and gave me $15, but I reminded her it was $12.50.

I greeted everyone with "Happy Holidays" hoping it would encourage them to reach a little more deeply into their pockets. However, it seemed that most people had cash in hand when they opened the door, so they already knew how much they were going to tip me anyway.

I also noticed that every single person to come to the door was female. I'd have thought husbands/brothers would come to the door just for safety's sake (what if I was evil?).

What would you do if you ordered pizza and saw a guy who looked like my avatar/chibi picture wearing a theOtaku t-shirt appear at your door?

The art business book...
The content is great, but wow, editing will take forever, maybe another 100 hours. I'm kind of a perfectionist on writing, though I should probably ease up a little since most artists who read it will only are about the content.

It would be fun to use one of those self publishing services to put it out in print as well as in digital form.

The Wii web browser was released today! The first site I visited? theO of course. However, the browser is Opera based and theOtaku renders TERRIBLY in Opera, so it wasn't a positive experience.

Reason #132 that theOtaku needs a new design: Opera/Wii compliance. We'll get there, sooner than later.

My prediction skills are off...
I predicted we'd get 150 entries to our awareness contest...we practically doubled that. I'm glad I'm not a fortune cookie author.

Holding this contest was a huge risk for us, in that a lot of it is out of our hands. The convention is fulfilling the prizes, hosting the actual gallery, and accomodating our team. If they do a poor job in any of these tasks, we get 100% of the blame, which is a monster liability.

Hopefully things go smoothly!

BTW: I liked the comment on my last post that I want to become a website grandpa, hehe, well said!

BTW2: Check out this symphony playing Chrono Trigger music.
