Another Top Day
Worked one hour again on Art of Otaku. I'm going to re-write the entire site. About 90% of all visitors leave within 10 seconds of their visit. While this isn't uncommon for sites that sell something, I think Art of Otaku is too good to scare so many people away.

Anyway, I love Sangome's new caption post...Her best one yet.

Most important point...

Wallpaper tags have moved from alpha to beta! All tags on sites are linked and we even have a shiny cloud!

Total time worked on site tonight: 2.5 hours.

Another Night...
Spent one hour working on Art of Otaku promotion stuff. Spent another hour working on getting the tag page for the wallpapers site up and running. Here's an alpha version:

Just replace "sasuke" in the URL with whatever tag you like.

Right now it only displays thumbnails. Probably 3-4 more hours of work until everything with wallpapers is tag-friendly.

Today's Accomplishments :-)
I've been on a productivity sweep lately. Here's what I did today:

(1) Promoted dozens of members to new positions (congrats!)

(2) Enveloped the first three Art of Otaku bonus checks (congrats again!) Will send them out tomorrow.

(3) Did a lot of staff planning errands

(4) Spent a lot of time thinking about how to best promote Art of Otaku. I think the current site might be a little hype-filled. Hm...

(5) Created a script that randomly displays different Art of Otaku catch-phrases across myOtaku. Forgive me if some sound cheesy. Remember, I work in advertising! I basically am running a test across the site to see what types of phrases visitors connect with most.

On another note, I want to thank SunfallE publicly for her excellent moderation work. She's handled the necessary follow-up for about 90% of our reported submissions this past month.

How On Earth...
I was browsing through the archived hub sites tonight. I'm in awe of how I had the perseverence to take so many screen captures and write so many detailed episode summaries. For example, I wrote over 100 for DragonBall, covered all 49 for Gundam Wing, did all of Trigun's 26 episodes, 25 episodes of Inuyasha...that's like 500 hours minimum of just watching, stopping, capturing, writing...

Whew. It was very, very important though. Before I took the time to really build those hubs, our anime coverage was laughably bad.

Those hubs gave us our audience and our reputation. We leveraged both to build what we have today.

Con Was Interesting
I was really tired during the con Friday, so I kept my visit short. A few notes:

* I got two artists to draw anime-style pictures of me. I'll try to scan them in.

* Did you read my one-question interview on theO's main page?

* It's really awesome seeing a long line and then flashing your VIP card and getting through.

* A lot of people really aren't very social at booths/tables.

* Nobody really paid attention to my press pass/theO t-shirt, which was disappointing since I was hoping some members would say 'hi.' One of the head convention volunteers said she was a registered member though (to download wallpapers).

My Hips Don't Lie
It's a huge disappointment, but because of some minor paperwork concerns, it looks like Maggie can't formally join our network. Hopefully though we can work together on smaller projects on the side and she's welcome to stay with our community. Ah well.

It's been a while since we've BINGO'd, what's up with that? : )
