   The disbelief fades as we awaken to the bittersweet taste of defeat.

I know I said I might not be on for a while but I came on to post this. Just a note: That whole post topic about stupid people doesn't have anything to do with you guys. It's about some friends of mine.

Anyway. My reason for posting this: Portugal lost 1-0 to Greece yesterday in the finals of the Euro 2004. You might think it easy to say "Next time." but it won't be the same. We were playing on home soil and we had won every match except for our first which was surprisingly enough against Greece also.

The entire game there were fouls from both sides but it was plain to see that the referee did favour Greece when it came down to that. Countless fouls against Deco dangerously close to the Greek goal were ignored but when it was the other way around... It was extremely unfair. I don't think the referee would have even noticed if they had begun to literally beat up Deco. The game wasn't a very pleasant one. The Greek team has a very, for lack of a better word, ugly way of playing. They are extremely defensive and wouldn't let anyone in their area last night. Whenever Cristiano Ronaldo, an extremely dangerous player for the other team, got the ball about 2 or 3 Greek players were on him. There was a time when about 3 of our players got through their defenses only to meet 7 or so players trying to steal the ball. It was extremely difficult and after the Greek team scored their goal it was impossible to get back. They tried their hardest and after the last whistle blew it was a devastating feeling that settled. Cristiano Ronaldo was on the field crying. Pauleta soon began and Rui Costa, who had earlier on announced that this game would be his last on the national team, began after "saying goodbye". It was the last game he played representing his country in the national team and it didn't end well. t's a shame because so many people were counting on it. So many people wanted it. So many people worked so hard for it. They deserved it.

After the game so many people were crying, and rightly so. So much emotion and such a big build up 'til this point to have everything destroyed at the end.But everyone, after the match, was celebrating. We have never reached a final so that in it's own is a big achievement. Everyone is very proud of our National Team. Congratulations to them.

I'm sorry for boring you all with this. It's just an extremely important thing. I'm not that into football (soccer) but this was so important. I was crying before the end because I could see the result. It was such a big opportunity. I know lots of you don't care about it and I am sorry for boring you all. I can't really help it.
