Is Ed balding? NO!!!!!! please no!
So, today my dad and I were
having a conversation.
Well…..one of those things
where you yell at each other and
expect the other person to hear
your opinion. But, this one was
very interesting. Topic: Is Ed balding?
My point of view:
ABSOFRICKENLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!!!!
Dad’s point of view:
He’s balding, look at how high
his hairline is on his head!
It started something like this.
I was showing him one of my
drawings (which hasn’t been
posted yet) of Ed, but drawn
somewhat realistically, like the
Hiederich that I did. Dad
looked at it, and went, “His
face is the wrong shape. It’s
more angular.” (yes, dad never
says my drawings look good
unless they are van goh-good.
Which hasn’t really happened
yet.) so, he’s like “Give me an
FMA book, and I’ll show you.”
I knew his face was a
different shape, because I was
drawing it REALISTICALLY. You
know, so it looked real. Not
the original style. But
still…..I brought out my fma art
book, and opened it up. We
flipped through, and he pointed
out a picture of Ed, and made
his case. I told him once again
that I was not tring to draw it
the original style, otherwise it
would LOOK like the original
style. He completely ignored
me. But, he suddenly stared
hard at the picture.
He said he noticed that Ed’s
ears stuck out, and he flipped
through, looked at a picture of
scar, and agreed with himself.
Then he looked again at Ed.
“Look, Alex, his hairline is
way higher than you drew it.
It’s almost to the top of his
head! God, he’s BALDING!”
Dad’s face….he was so
happy….anyway, I did draw his
hair differently, because in
real life hair doesn’t look like
pizza slices, no matter how much
you gel it. His hairline was
also different, but that was
just Arakawa sensei’s way of
painting. Anyway, I was
infuriated.
“HE IS NOT
BALDING!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS ED!
He is 14 #%@%& YEARS OLD!”
“Some people go bald young.”
“Ed IS NOT one of them!!”
“No, look, he’s going bald. See this? What you drew…you
added bunches. You’re giving
him a wig!!!”
He pointed out a picture of
Ed. It’s really true when you
look, that his hairline is
high. But he’s not balding. I
think everyone is with me on
this one. The argument
continued, interspersed with much
pointing at pictures and
flipping of pages. Finally, I
said,
“Look, if he was going bald,
Arakawa sensei would have said
something! Look at her author’s
note for his book!”
We flipped to the back, and
read; (this is the actual
thing, I’m looking at the book
right now)
“Another thing I noticed
was “Boy, the main character
sure takes off his clothes a
lot.” Of course, if I want to
draw his Auto-mail, then I have
to make him take off his
clothes. But maybe he strips
more often than major Armstrong?
Is Edward a stripper? No, guys
always walk around their room
wearing only their underwear.
My dad will even go outside to
the cow shed in the middle of
winter after taking a bath. (I
don’t think I can win against a
guy like that.)”
-The art of Fullmetal Alchemist:
original illustrations by Hiromu Arakawa.
“Well. No note about Ed
being bald.” Triumph!!
“Yeah……hows about you draw Lust in her underwear?”
No triumph……
“Why don’t you just go stand
outside Victoria’s secret and
droolat the models?” He frustrates
me…….parents are like that. His
favorite character is lust, by
the way. The only anime he
touches are CB, FMA, and now,
Planetes.
“No…..you really should draw
lust in her underwear.”
“FINE!!! I’ll draw her
bald, since you like bald people so much!”
“Okay, as long as she’s in
her underwear.”
Dang. I lost the argument.
Verily, tis a predicament of
melancholy happening. Dang.
But I lied. I’m not drawing
lust in her underwear until my
mother stops bragging about my
art to random people I don’t
know and giving them links to my
site. I may not draw her even
then. Sorry, guys.
XPPP
