New Song Ideas
yes, this is me
I know I was in a slump before, but I finished "Mother" and I have two new song ideas: "Low Life" and "Grandma Found My Vibrator." I'm writing "Grandma Found My Vibrator" and just one more thing. My balloon song didn't really have any symbolic meaning or anything. It was just out of fun.
The Most Dangerous Toy
yes, this is me
One of our newer songs that was influenced by Don Hertzfeldt's animated short, "Billy's Balloon." Tell me what you guys think.
“The Most Dangerous Toy”
The most dangerous toy
On all of planet Earth
Is the helium balloon
When you parents are talking to your friends
The string on the balloon is choking your kid
And while you’re talking, your kid’s air supply ends
A lot of times, balloons try to suffocate you
When they propel their latex into your throat
Other times, they’ll lift you up in the air
But then drop you from hundreds of feet
And they’ll keep doing it
Until you get a concussion
(Bridge):
Why would any child want that?
Balloons have minds of their own
A floating balloon is evil
And its looks are deceitful
It’ll float in your bedroom at night
It’ll climb on your face when you’re sleeping
And then it’ll eat your face off
And whenever they’re in clusters
Of maybe ten or so
They’ll brutally attack a toddler
And wail on him with their latex bodies
(Bridge)
Or sometimes a balloon will lift a kid
Just high enough to get hit by a plane
While they’re waving to their friend
Who’s also being carried by a balloon
So please teach your child about balloon safety
Or they’ll get hit by a plane
First Rehearsal and Custom Suit
yes, this is me
Rehearsal went pretty well yesterday. No fights or anything. We got through most of "Acid Junkie" and a little bit of "Jerkface Disease."
This is the custom suit I was talking about. I know I didn't photoshop it very well, but I wanted it to look like this, as well as the pants, socks and shoes too. :)
Obsessed With Duality? Also, I'm Kind of Scared...
yes, this is me
Wow, I think I might be obsessed with duality. We've got the half and half picture, a lot of my designs are focused on halves, dualisms, dicotomies *sp* and twos. Plus, I've been wanting a half red and half blue designed suit, kind of like the black and white one that Two-Face wears for special ocassions or maybe for performances with The Mistake.
Wow, it's 2 am and I'm still online. But I'm actually pretty nervous. Our rehearsal is 3-6 today and I'm pretty scared that our percussionist and rythm guiarist might get in a fist fight. Our percussionist is still pretty angry about some "disagreements" they've had in the past, but if he just keeps his cool, they could probably work it out.
First Band Get-Together Tomorrow
yes, this is me
As you've read in my post title, tomorrow's the first get-together for The Mistake. I say "get-together" because we're figuring out parts for our songs. It's going to be at Shayne's (the bassist) house, and only four of us can be there. I've only got twelve completed songs (not including "Building 262") but it's still a pretty good amount to work on. They cover important issues like drug addiction, emos, masturbating not being a bad thing, school prodigies being overrated, people who are decietful, narcissism, prostitution and the denial of being drunk. so how are you?
Rock Opera
yes, this is me
Remember how my friends and I are a band now? Well, I stayed up pretty late last night (until around 1 am) outlining my idea for a rock opera. It has three acts and twenty-one songs. It's about an average joe named Teddy who lives in the near future where nihilism is pushed so far that it's a gov't policy and all forms of religion become illegal. Also, anyone who basically believes in anything is certified insane and put away in these massive asylums that are basically everywhere. However, Teddy's a sort of pious man, so while churches and synagogues are being torn down, he's now active in these "underground churches" where people have secret sermons. The gov't becomes aware of these meetings and arrests everyone involved, including Teddy. They're all naturally put away, and Teddy goes into "special treatment" where he's strapped down and given electric shock while the doctors try to change his thinking with their logic and slideshows. However, Teddy doesn't show any signs of "getting better." But later on, he hears about people pretending to convert to the government's non-religious policies to get out. Teddy tries it and is eventually let out. When he gets out, he meets and becomes best friends with a former priest named John who was also given "special treatment." Of course, they re-organize the underground churches, and everyone involved is arrested again. They're taken back to the asylum (B-262) but this time, they're in for life. When they get back in, the head doctor (who the patients cutely nicknamed "Warden Stacy") has her eye on Teddy. Stacy finds out about how John led the underground churches, reports him and John gets the death sentence. Teddy is willing to do just about anything to save him but the only way to do it is to sleep with Warden Stacy. If he does this, she'll agree to lie about John not being a leader in the underground churches.
I don't really feel like giving away the ending though...but I was thinking about calling it "Building 262." What do you think?
