this is part.................. 7? is it part 7? i dint know. anywho, enjoy!
“Oh, hush up, you! Sazaki, I’m giving you the day off, ok?”
Sazaki’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Why?”
“Because I said so!” the older girl cried.
Raiuku nudged his sister in the ribs and whispered in her ear.
“Oh yeah! I almost forgot!” Karin exclaimed, giggling sheepishly, “Sazaki, there is something in the backroom for you!”
Sazaki cocked her head in curiosity, walking into the backroom.
“What does it look like?”
“It’s in a brown package.”
Sazaki glanced around, spotting it on the counter where they normally keep orders that they get from the local blacksmith to restock their shelves, or if they have special orders from their customers. An unopened box sat on the far corner of the counter.
“This one in the corner?” she called.
“Yeah! Bring it out here and open it!”
She cautiously picked it up and brought it out.
“She’s not going to be able to figure out what to do with it you know.” She heard Raiuku mutter, “Not at first. At least ‘till you tell her... Ow!”
When Sazaki entered the main shop again, Karin was lowering the white fan again, and obvious sign that she had smacked her little brother again. Raiuku glowered as she nursed the bump on his head again.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
Karin flapped her hand in the air as if blowing away her question.
“Nothing, nothing! Just open it already!”
Sazaki shrugged and took a kunai off one of the racks beside the counter and sliced the packaging tape open, sifting through the box. She came up with a small, thick feeling stick with large slits on both ends, and two holes in the top of it. Sazaki arched an eyebrow in confusion, holding it up to eye level.
“... A stick? What am I supposed to do with a stick?”
“See, what did I tell you? She doesn’t know what it is!”
Raiuku caught his sister by the wrist as she tried to whack him again.
“Will you please stop hitting me? It’s getting annoying!”
Sazaki cleared her throat impatiently, tapping her fingers on the counter.
“It’s supposed to be a staff.” Raiuku explained, “It was made especially for you.”
Karin nodded and picked up where her brother left off.
“You’re supposed to push air into the two holes on the top there, and it forces out two pieces of wood on each end that lock up when they come out so that they don’t go back in when you’re fighting. When you’re storing it, you’re supposed to suck the air back in, and the two ends come back in.”
Raiuku nodded as Sazaki held it up to examine it again.
“Go on, see if it works!” Karin cried, grinning from ear to ear.
Sazaki tested it in her hand for a second and twirled it in her fingers experimentally. When she got a good spin to it, she quickly pushed air into the holes on top.
WHOOSH!!!
The two ends came flying out at tremendous speed, almost making her drop it in surprise. Drawn out, the whole thing was taller than she was by at least six inches.
“Hey, cool!” she exclaimed, twirling it around her body and over her head.
“It’s specially made so that you can do those air stunts with it, too.” Karin stated.
“That’s not all.” Raiuku said, smiling, “I took the opportunity to make something else in it. Look at the sides at the top of the staff.”
Sazaki looked at the end where he was talking about and felt up the sides with her fingers. She felt two small bumps on each side with small holes in it.
“You feel them?” he asked, “There are two more at the bottom. If you force air into those, the sides fold out into wings that are attached to the staff, transforming it into a glider. It works the same as the method to open the staff.”
Sazaki grinned and surprised the two siblings by giving them both fierce hugs.
“Thank you so much!! “she gushed as Raiuku’s face flushed a deep, deep red, “I’m gonna go show this to Naruto! I’ll see you later!”
Sazaki turned and ran out the store and was gone. Karin glanced over at Raiuku and grinned slightly.
“You still like her?”
Raiuku’s face flushed even deeper at his sister’s teasing.
“Shut up!!” he snapped.
Then his face softened slightly, a worried look in is eyes.
“... I wonder if she’ll be ok...” he muttered, “It’s tough being a ninja...”
Karin ruffled her little brother’s hair affectionately.
“I’m sure she’ll be fine.” She said with her voice full of confidence, “She’s tougher than you think, Raiuku. She’ll get along fine. I do, however, feel sorry for who ever her team leader is. Sazaki sure is a hotheaded, stubborn person. She’s gonna be a handful!”
Raiuku grinned and walked into the back room to collect more shuriken for the store.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I just hope that she keeps her head.”
Karin smiled again.
“She will. Like I said, she’s tough.”
Karin was quiet for a minute, sudden sadness etched into her features.
“... Just like her mother...”
