Nari bit her lip and then suddenly tasted blood. She panicked and looked around to find a bathroom as her mouth slowly filled with blood. She finally found a bathroom by her new locker and ran inside, hoping that no one was in there. She ran to a sink and spit out the blood, panting. She wiped her mouth and started the water to wash the blood down the drain. She opened her mouth and found her fangs sharp as when they were at night, and cursed to herself silently as she watched the punctures slowly heal. She heard giggling and shut her mouth, then walked out the door, slightly brushing against a pink clad giggler. She shuddered in disgust and went to her locker. When she opened it a huge shower of black tissue paper bats hit her and she fell over. She heard laughing to her left and turned to see "the five". She'd borrowed the name for them from the book "Blood and Chocolate", even if in the book it was about werewolves. "Damn..." she said under her breathe and stood up, taking a bat out of her short red hair. She kicked the bats out of her locker and shoved her heavy English book inside on a shelf. She couldn't believe her mom sent her alone to live with the rest of the tribe by herself. She hadn't seen any of the clan since she was 8, and she hadn't really been looking forward to it. "The five" came over to her locker and leaned against the surrounding lockers, encircling her. "So, Nari, how's your first day so long?" Benaii asked, grinning at her. "Put your fangs away and leave me alone!" Nari hissed as she slammed her locker shut and stalked down the hall, trying to find her next class.

The late bell rang and she was still confused, looking at her schedule and looking around hopelessly lost. A teacher 20 feet down the hall eyed her baggy black jeans and blood red MCR tank top suspiciously and Nari started to panic. "You look lost." a voice said from right behind her. Nari spun to find a 6'2" gorgeous guy standing before her. She was at least 5" shorter than him and had to look up slightly. Nari blushed and looked slightly past his left ear. She nodded and blushed deeper. "Got a schedule?" he asked, nudging her down a small hallway. Nari dumbly handed it over and put her hands in her back pockets. They heard foot steps coming down the other hallway and suddenly Nari was pushed against the wall by the boy helping her. After the footsteps faded he stepped back. "Sorry, Mr. Yanaky's brutal, you don't want him to catch you late to class." he said and glanced down at her schedule. "It's right down here, come on." he said and walked off with her schedule pulling her along by a back-pack strap. Nari went after him and he opened a door then stepped back for her to go through the door first.

Nari stepped through shyly and found everyone in the room staring at her. "Sorry I'm late Ms. Daney. Had to snag-"he paused and glanced at her schedule again, "-Narina Nalacina to your lovely little class." he said and closed the door. The teacher smiled tiredly at Nari. "Thanks Kogano, now sit down!" she said jokingly. Nari stood by the door and watched as Kogano moved to the back of the room and sat down in one of two empty seats. "Narina, go ahead and sit, well, next to Kogano, that's the only free seat." Ms. Daney said and turned back to the computer sitting on her desk. Nari nervously made her way to the desk next to Kogano and noticed that Benaii was in the front row. He grinned at her and she grimaced. He smacked her on the ass playfully as she walked by and Nari covered her face as she dropped into the seat and put her head down on the desk groaning.

She felt eyes on her and looked up to see every Goth, punk, and emo guy in the class looking at her, even Kogano who grinned at her. Nari blushed and pulled out a book, burying her face in it. Kogano laughed and started to doodle on a piece of paper. Nari glanced at the teacher. She didn't look like she was going to get out of her chair. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pen. She put her book down and started to write on the edge of Kogano's paper. 'What do we do in this class?' 'This is basically study hall, but Ms. D doesn't care what we do.' 'Oh...' 'I'm Kogano, by the way, but almost everyone calls me Koga, like in Ranma 1 / 2, it's cool. : D' ': ) I'm Nari, I hate it when people call me Narina...' 'Did you just move here? I don't remember seeing you around here.' 'Yea-' The bell rang. "Sorry, I'll see you around." Nari said as she bolted for the door, hoping beyond hope that Benaii wouldn't catch her. He hadn't left her alone since she'd gotten there two days ago. She ran to her locker and pulled it open, stepping away from the opening this time, and sure enough another wave of black bats came rushing out onto the floor.

She kicked them away and put the rest of her books into her locker. An emo and a punk came up to the locker on her left and the emo started to open it. Nari noticed the punk look her up and down. He had a lime green Mohawk and a nose piercing like a bull and was ugly in her opinion. Nari pulled her hoodie out of her locker, pulled the last few bats out of it and then ran to the house. She locked herself in her room, knowing "the five" would be coming to try and get her to hang out with them. She sighed and flopped on her black clad bed. Her cat came in the window just then and came to the bed. He was completely black except for a white star shape over his right eye. "Hey Ami, how was your day?" she asked and scratched under his chin. He stared at her then went back out the window.

She heard hoots coming up the stairs and groaned. Kodono pounded on the door and called teasingly through the door. "NAAAARI!!! COME OUT AND PLAY!!!" "No...go away...don't you guys have anything better to do than bother me?" she asked. "Nope, Taniah, Akila, Kilana, Nanami, and Ash are off somewhere, and we want you come hang out! Please?" Janei said. "GO AWAY!!!" she yelled and threw a pillow at the door. After they finally left she fell asleep. Around midnight her alarm went off. She yawned and stretched, her fangs growing sharper. She walked to her window and stuck her head out, looking for any lights on in the neighborhood. When she saw none she climbed onto the roof and gracefully dropped to the ground.

She breathed in the night air and looked at the moon. It was full, no wonder her fangs had gone sharp, or maybe that had just been her nervousness. She walked out into the alley behind their house and stood in the darkness listening. She heard someone coming down the alley and turned. A tall dark figure was slowly walking down the alley. Nari waited and watched the figure come closer. Her fangs ached hungrily, she knew she needed to feed tonight or tomorrow night. Nari crouched low, waiting to see how appealing his blood might be to her. She was startled when he got close enough to see his appearance. It was Koga, looking even more cute in the shadows of night. Her fangs ached more agonizingly and she moaned softly to herself. She slowly stood up and watched him start in surprise. "What were you doing down there?" he asked. "Tying my shoe. I should be asking you why you're here." she said, eyeing him.

He was wearing a black button down long sleeve shirt with red thread X's on random spots and black baggy guy jeans with silver chains hanging from his right side. His hair was black with a red Mohawk the shade of her hair down the middle of his hair that was about 4 inches long giving him a shaggy look that made her agonize even more. She always chose a guy like this to satisfy the hunger, it made it sweeter in a way to have the guys she loved to look at all the time. It usually only took 10 minutes to have them so hypnotized that they didn't even realize she was drinking their blood, not just biting their neck. She didn't always like playing that game, but she wouldn't do what most of the vampires she knew would do. They would ambush random people in dark alley's, scaring the crap out of them and having the possibility of killing them in the struggle for their blood. She wasn't sure if she would try to take Koga's blood, it might be too risky with him going to the same school as her and knowing her. She'd always chosen the guys she didn't know, but loved the 15 or so minutes they would spend together.

She was ripped from her thoughts by his voice. "Hello? Anybody still there?" he asked jokingly, waving a hand slowly in front of her face. Her eyes followed his wrist and the blood rich vein it possessed. She licked her lips. "Sorry, just thinking..." she said and ripped her eyes off his wrist and looked just past his left ear as she had done before. She noticed that his ear was pierced several times which Nari found extremely attractive. His hair was covering the other ear when she glanced to his right ear. Koga, most likely knowing what she was doing, tucked some of his hair behind his right ear. The right was free of any piercing except for one, a small but noticeable black stone, at the point in the top of his ear. His ears were slightly pointed at the top like hers.

She knew that all vampires had that, but some normal people had ears like that so she still wasn't sure if he was a vampire or not, she would have to figure it out because if she was caught with a member of a rival clan of vampires she would be toast, banished from the tribe and any house they lived in, she'd be on her own all alone. "I'm an insomniac, I guess you could say, I don't sleep more than a few hours at night so I roam the streets, mostly alleyways to avoid the other people walking around. Why are you out?" he asked as he put his hair back the way it had been. Nari put a hand on the back of her head and realized she hadn't tried to fix it from sticking up so weird after she slept. She blushed and tried to flatten it. "Same, I don't sleep much at night. And I live just down there." she said pointing down the alley behind her. She lifted her glasses and rubbed her nose.

"Two vampires in the night's what we are." Koga said, making Nari start suddenly. But then she remembered that people used that fraise all the time so her heart slowly slowed back to it¡¯s normal pace. "I know it's corny, but there's a park just a few blocks away from here. That's where I was headed, you wanna come with?" he asked, studying her face and ears. Her shocking red hair was about 3 inches long in the back and around her face and she had 2 inch bangs, and parts of her hair lightly covered her ears. She moved her hair behind her ears and saw his eyes light up. She had three piercings in a row on her left earlobe and on her right she had her ear pierced up to the point. She also had her nose pierced on the right with a small blood red stone. She smiled lightly, hoping that her fangs weren't possibly showing and nodded. "Sure." she said. Koga smiled, but not as big as he had that day in class. She wondered what had changed. "I'll even push you on the swings if you want." Koga said as he took the lead and steered them back the way Nari had come.

"Ow..." she heard him say and put a hand to his mouth. In the dim light she saw some blood on his fingers when he pulled them away from his mouth. She felt her fangs ache again and resisted the urge to moan again. She stopped in front of him. "Let me see. What'd you do?" she asked, hoping she wouldn't do something stupid like lick the blood off his fingers or kiss him just for the blood coming from his split lip. Her body ached with the effort. "No, I'm ok, really, happens all the time..." he said and wiped the blood on his pants. *What a waste of blood!* she thought to herself. He moved around her and continued walking towards the park. When they got there they sat on the swings and talked for a little while.

Koga had lived there all his life. He thought it was cool that she had lived in England until she was sent here to the states. They both had no siblings but had a lot of family that lived in the town. "So, what was the deal with Benaii smacking your butt earlier? Are you guys a couple or something?" he asked. "Oh, god no! He's my cousin, well, sort of, he's kind of part of the family but not completely related. But he's basically my cousin which makes the way he acts even freakier! Another reason I didn't want to move out here, "the five"." she said, kicking sand. "Blood and Chocolate, good book. Too bad it's about werewolves." he said, causing her to look at him in surprise. "Have you read the Silver Kiss? It's really good." he added. Nari nodded dumbly. "I love vampire books, even though some are out date-" she stopped and turned away. She'd almost talked about how vampires were evolving. Only a few generations before hers had they finally been able to go out in the sun.

Koga made no effort to make her continue. Instead he moved behind her and lightly started to push her. After a few minutes she dragged her feet and he stopped. When he sat back down on his swing she noticed his split lip was gone. Another sign that he could be a vampire, they healed fast. "Your lip's not split anymore." she said. Koga reached a fingertip to his lips. "I heal fast." was all he said. Nari's body ached with hunger for blood, she needed it soon and she wasn't sure if it would wait until tomorrow night. She figured she would have to take Koga's and hope that things wouldn't get to strange between them, she liked him but she wasn't sure how.
