   Selfish Girl

Selfish Girl By Jessy Lakins

She is confused,

the world is aware.

But in her confusion,

she is happy.



The days are too long,

the night should last forever.

He is so kind to her,

Still she is happy.



He claims her as his friend,

she loves his company.

He never complains about her,

she wonders if he's happy.



Most times she can't sleep,

thoughts of him corrupt her mind.

But they make her smile,

she hopes he's happy.



He tells her of his thoughts,

she tells him of her heart.

They are good for each other,

She is happy when he smiles.



He's beautiful,

she's never seen him.

But still she knows,

He makes her happy.



She cares not about his looks,

His beauty lies in his soul.

She cares so much but,

She doesn't make him happy.



He makes her laugh,

she makes him sad.

She can't be selfish,

she's only making herself happy.



They both know it's true,

She doesn't want him sad.

She is so sorry,

She just wants him to be happy.



It doesn't matter the cost,

As long as he smiles.

She'd give up her whole world,

if only to make him happy.



He is her best friend,

Or at least she'd like to think.

But sometime she wonders,

what could make him happy.



Secretly she hopes,

and secretly she prays.

That she can solve this riddle,

and someday make him happy.
