Edge Walker's Oath

I here to swear this is what I, ___________, believe and want.

To be no one.
To watch from a distance.
To be like the fog on the lake,
You can grasp,
But you can’t catch.

To, occasionally, involve myself
With chosen key people
And events.
And see how that alters things.

To let no one know me.
To only involve myself intimately
With fellow Edge Walkers,
For they know how it feels.

To walk the edge of the worlds.
To observe and record.
To say, this was this then,
And this is this now.

Join our ranks,
Become one of us.
Be the shadow in the night.
Be our comrade.

Just as we are.

Thank you, my friends and comrades. I now have a goal, a reason. That is my life as an Edge Walker.

I wrote this a while ago, and I've decided to post it. It's very indicitive of the average Edge Walker's attitude. There are variants, of course. Teneil is the absolute head of the Edge Walkers, though she does have advisors. And, there are some non-humans in their ranks.
