Oh dear God, the pain.
I would just like to say to all the men that you are very, very lucky that your insides do not consistantly bleed every month. Painkillers of the world, unite. Please. Dear God, please.

Happy Fourth Of July to everyone it applies to and then some. I hope you have fun with fireworks. And if not the fireworks, at least the matches you use to light the fireworks. I know I always do.

Yesterday I went to Red, Hot, and Boom (or whatever the hell it's called) in Altamount Springs. One of the local radio stations in the area teams up with the city and they do a pre-fourth celebration every year. They invite out a bunch of bands and local artists and you get to sit around and listen to them for free. The food pretty much sucks, but the mall and a few decent restaurants are nearby, so most leave to eat.

Yesterday was the first time I have ever been to one and I'm glad it was the only time I've ever been because the entire day was absolutely miserable. When it wasn't scorchingly hot, it was raining. The humidity was awful, and the bands weren't particularly good. I paid five dollars for a personal pan pizza from Papa Johns and had one slice before I realized that my dog eats better food.

We got there around 2 in the afternoon and surprisingly found a few friends there already. I hadn't expected to see them, although I really should of known. They're huge Hanson fans, and Hanson was one of the bands there. They had been there since 8 in the morning (the psychos) and had some great seats, so we joined them. And then we sat and died for a couple hours before me, Jen, and Erica decided that we'd like to wander around the mall for a bit to get away from the heat.

So we wandered around the mall for a bit, looking around, and stopped in Suncoast to check out DVDs, anime, and the like. I was looking through the posters they had back in a stack and what did I find? A Labyrinth poster. And lo, there was much rejoicing.

Later, while I was trying on some random clothes, my sister knocks on the door and tells me that they were evacuating the concert grounds. Although it had been raining off and on since about 4-ish, there was supposedly some pretty nasty storm cells heading in. Ten minutes later, when we headed back out into the general mall area, the sky was dark and you could see the rain rolling off of the glass window things above us in waves. Needless to say, the mall was packed. Way too many people. We ended up getting some Dairy Queen and then tried to find a spot that wasn't crawling with the rest of the crowds.

Eventually it stopped raining, although it remained pretty gloomy and overcast for the rest of the day (Yes! Freedom from the opression of the sun!). We got pretty close to our original spot and waited for what seemed like forever for the music to start up again. It was only after the sun set that they began to play, and really, it was only until the last three bands came up that any of us had any fun.

The third to last band was Hanson, and contrary to some belief, they don't absolutely suck. I'd rather listen to them than Good Charlotte, at least. Anyway, my friends had a good time, and they left directly afterwards, so we swarmed a little closer. I got a spot on the bar, which was awesome. Something to lean against!

After Hanson they did the fireworks. I love fireworks. I haven't been to a really big show like that in years and honestly, it made the entire day worth it. They were so awesome, and they were playing some great songs along with it. Everybody was singing and clapping and cheering and it was pretty damn cool right then.

Next was Kimberly Locke, whom I didn't know in the slightest until one song. I happened to recognize the chorus of it, and then it sort of dawned on me - she was that American Idol girl that didn't win. Oh yeah, her. Anyway, she was all right, but not good enough. She did sing Over the Rainbow, though, and I do love the Wizard of Oz, so it all works out.

The last band of the night was The Calling, and honestly, they were who I went to see. Naturally, they'd be playing dead last. But eh, the wait was worth it. The guy who sings (Alex Band or something) has an incredibly sexy voice. Unbelievably sexy. I'm-going-to-rip-your-clothes-off-and-take-you-right-here sexy.

Now today, we'll be doing our usual fireworks thing with our neighbor and light a whole bunch in the street. If we're lucky, one will shoot astray into our other neighbor's house and make a real bang. Damn, I'd pay to see that.

Er, I mean... yay, peace on Earth.
