"I am Sydney Bristow."
Current Mood: Relaxed
Listening To: Apocalypse Please - Muse

That's what my roommate said to me this morning. She brought the first season of Alias back with her after spring break and now I'm officially her Alias-watching partner. Which isn't entirely bad, since I've always sort of wanted to see it. It's the whole spy thing, I'm pretty sure. That, and Michael Varten is gorgeous. So that's what I'll be watching as of late, in between other things. I'm really hoping I can talk her into going to Blockbuster (or, preferably, to a good video store) so I can rent the Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions, if it's out. I'd like to see them, especially since James has been talking amost none-stop about the different themes in them. That sort of stuff just rocks my socks, so it'll be fun.

Yesterday, we went grocery shopping, and I had to buy some pens for class because I'm just about out. You have to understand, though, I have no willpower against school supplies. I love shopping for that sort of stuff. I don't know why, I can't explain the eccentricies of my mind, but I love it all the same. Especially... notebooks. Give me journals, composition books, anything with paper in it, and I go nuts. I have a collection of journals and notebooks that I write in. I don't even finish them off.. I just keep going, like the energizer bunny. And each notebook has a specific pen type. I can't write in my journal, for instance, with anything but one of those Pilot G-2 pens. The kind that writes really smoothly and doesn't bleed. And I always write in cursive in there. In a different journal, however, it's all purely stories, and I have to have a ball-point pen for that. The color of the ink usually doesn't matter.

So you see, I'm nuts with that. Absolutely bonkers. So when I went and bought those pens - the Pilot Precise kind, where you can see the ink in them - I immediately started looking at notebooks. And it's been such a long time since I last bought one. It's like an addiction, and I decided that it was time to feed it. I ended up buying two of the same notebook, just in different colors. The cover on both is sort of transparent, with a silver sun on the front, but one is white and one is light blue. I'm not a big fan of light blue (or most blues in general), but it looks nice. I felt extremely satisfied.

Beyond my apparent obsessive-compulsive tendencies, I've been all right. I've kind of had a constant headache, which is not too cool, but I can't say I didn't expect it. That always happens when I go back to school after a long break. Go figure.

As many people have noted previously, the Adventure Arena is really shaping up nicely, and since V7 went up, I've noticed a few people who have sort of stepped up since then - people like Cyriel, Sage, and Undefeated. They all seem to have strong, stable writing skills and are creative enough, but most notably, they move the plot forward.

That's not something a lot of people do - which is something that I can at least understand. Moving the story in any one direction is unfortunately made to seem sort of control-freakish and a lot of people seem really hesitant to take any sort of lead; it's easier to sit back and sort of follow the leader, so to speak, then take the risk. And that's primarily why a lot of stories die off - nobody is willing to push it forward.

Of course, there's also the few who have always been good, dependable RPGers within the Arena. Lynx and Wondershot have been around forever, it seems, and it really shows. Their characters are always thought-out and they bring a lot to whatever story they're currently writing in. Wondershot especially seems to have an endless supply of ideas. They don't always fly for one reason or another, but he doesn't stop trying, and that's a very admirable trait.

On another note, it's interesting to watch the trends in the Arena change over time. When I first joined, there were a ton of fantasy based RPGs. Lots of magic and heroism and the good vs. the bad sort of stories. Then Kill Adam appeared, and revolutionized RPGs. The ratings went up (not always with the quality) and a ton of mob-like stories were created. As that faded out, a backlash of more light, comedic stories came in. There have also been a lot of Final Fantasy related RPGs in the last month or so, as well. It's just a lot of fun to watch and speculate about what will be the next big theme.

That's my two cents for today, I suppose. After thinking about all of that, though, I've got the sudden urge to write down a whole bunch of new ideas, so I think I'll do just that. I just feel so inspired! Happy day!

Note: I can't believe no one got my Disney quote. I know it probably wasn't one of the more popular films, but still, I thought somebody would know it. Le sigh. Here's the new, easier one, then:

The future is littered with prizes
And though I'm the main addressee
The point that I must emphasize is
You won't get a sniff without me
