Harry Potter
So, right, I'm a fanfiction writer, among other things. This means that I write fanfiction. Now, I don't often bandy it about, because chances are that if you're a fanfiction writer, and you tell someone, they're going to laugh in your face. Especially if it's Harry Potter fanfiction. It just seems so...geeky.
The thing is, most of the fanfiction I write is [and i'm being ever modest] very good. Really good, in fact. And it's dark, and quite simply, good. And, while I might not give out the adress to many people [okay, almost no one] I really take pride in my work. And I should.
While some of my stuff is quite squicky, and some people won't like it, it's still artsy. And it annoys me when people are so...closeminded about things like fanfiction.
And, yes, there are a lot of odd pairings. Slash, Femslash, incest, and so on. I know people who pair Hagrid and Dobby, for goodness sake.
And while I don't really...appreciate...certain pairings, if I'm reccomended to them, I can look at the writing and like it, even if I don't like the pairings and so on in the story. This whole 'Totally intolerant to slash' thing is rather...annoying.
