   Chapter 1
Chapter one

Area 92, Sector V
Deep underground in Area 92, sector V, Canti awoke. Slowly opening his eyes he thought “where am I?” as he studied his surroundings. He was suspended in a glass tube filled with slimy green liquid that took some getting used to moving around in. As he slowly turned around in a 360 degree turn, he realized that whoever put him here didn’t want him to get out. The walls were made of titanium slabs, and the door was steel plated. The only clue to where he was a thick glass window on the left side of the door directly in front of him. A lone single wire was protruding from the bottom of the tube, slowly winding its way across the floor, up the wall and into a small hole in the ceiling.
“ugh…what happened?” he thought as he put his hand to his head. “wait a minute…” he thought. He was sure he was touching his head with his hand, but he couldn’t feel it. Slowly raising his hand to eye level, he saw why.
“My…My hand!” in a sudden realization, he checked his entire body. “ARGH! What happened to my body!” he gurgled. As fear swept over him, he frantically punched at the glass trying to get out. “This can’t be happening to me!” As he punched and punched, a guard came racing into view of the window and burst through the door. Looking horrified at the site of Canti, he grabbed for his walkie talkie and yelled something into it.
“H-Hey! You! What happened to me!” screamed Canti through the glass. But the guard just backed away, horrified.
“Don’t kill me!” whimpered the guard as he ran out of the room screaming for back up.
“Damn it! Get back here!” and with a final punch, Canti broke through the glass, shattering it to pieces. Canti fell to the floor, straining against his new muscles to stand. “what’s happening to me? How did I get here?” as the questions kept coming, Canti stumbled to the glass window. As his form slowly appeared in the reflective glass, he studied himself. He couldn’t remember anything about his past, or even how he got to prison cell #8 in sector V of Area 92. All he could remember was his name and what he used to look like.
But instead of his regular body, his new body wasn’t made of flesh and bone. Instead it was now made of metal and wires. His old organs and muscles were no more. In there place were chips and monitors. Canti had been transformed into a robot.
“I can’t feel, I can’t smell, I’m sure I can’t even taste food…I don’t even eat food anymore…” As Canti stepped outside, a voice was booming over the intercom.
“PRISON BREAK IN SECTOR V…BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR SUBJECT I-38…REPEAT…BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR….”
“Perfect.” Canti said as he raced down the hall. As he reached a four way intersection, he paused. “Um…hmm….eenie meenie minee….MO!” He took a left, then a right, then another left. “This is insane, this place is a maze...” As he rounded a left corner, he stopped dead in his tracks. Four guards were aiming at him with their green plasma pistols.
“F-F-Freeze!” Stammered one of the guards.
“Wait! Don’t shoot!” he yelled.
“huh?” the guards exchanged confused glances. Something clicked inside of Canti’s vocal unit.
“I said don’t shoo-” but before he could finish, his entire body started moving. His arms split in two, his knee caps moved to the side, and his chest opened up like a cabinet. At each opening a missile shot out at the guards.
“AAARGH!!!” screamed the guards. As each missile hit it’s mark.
“…How did I do that?” Canti wondered, but before he could figure out how, his entire body moved again, this time covering up the holes. “I didn’t even think about it. I did it by myself…” One of the guards stirred, Canti grabbed him forcefully by his shirt and picking up a plasma pistol.
“Now your gonna tell me what is going on… and if u don’t….well..” Canti put the pistol to the guards head, “let’s just say your gonna tell me..”
“W-What do you want to know?” said the guard.
“Why am I here?”
“You’re subject I-38, right?”
“That’s what the intercom keeps saying,” said Canti pointing at the intercom with the gun. “now answer the question.”
“When you had your original body, you used to be one of the greatest fighters the evil Aliens had.”
“Aliens?”
“Yes, you bastards attacked our planet two years ago and killed millions of innocent people, and you led their attacks!”
“No…No NO! I wouldn’t! I would never hurt innocent people!”
“You did…But it gets better, we finally trapped you and put you into suspended sleep. During the trap, your body was broken. We were able to move your mind and memories from your old body, to this new one.”
“But I can’t remember anything…”
“That was a draw back, we were only able to copy your abilities and personality, only a few memories were saved.”
“That’s all I need to know,” Canti said as he tossed the guard aside, “but how do you know all of these things?”
At this the guard looked upset, “I used to be in charge of your recovery, I was in charge of filling your memories with new ones, making you the militaries new warrior, we gave you one of the best robot bodies we have, missiles, guns, automatic armor, u would’ve been leading an entire army of robots, just like you. The other robot’s would become our best fighters armor, everything would’ve been set for the final attack agains u aliens, but we ran into some difficulties.”
“What happened?” questioned Canti, still pointing the pistol at the guard.
“After your body refused to accept the new memories, all my work went down the drain, if your body wouldn’t accept the memories, then we couldn’t convince you that you were our warrior…so you were scheduled for termination”
“And then I woke up…”
“yep”
Canti stood contemplating this new information he had just heard. After what seemed like an eternity, Canti asked the question that feared him most “is there anyway to get my original body back?”
“….well…the only ones who could have a chance of getting your body back would be your little friends in the space ships,” said the guard pointing to the sky, “but your chances of getting there are slim to none.”
“I’ll take my chances.” Said Canti. He let go of the guard and ran off
“You’ll never get out of here alive!” yelled the guard.
As Canti looked back, he could’ve sworn he heard the guard say something, but before he had time to wonder about it, the intercom was yelling something else,
“SUBJECT I-38 HAS BEEN SEEN NEAR PRISON CELLS, ALL SECURITY REPORT TO LEVEL B8 IMMEDIATELY!”
“Well I’m not sticking around to wait for security to show up…I’m out of here” said Canti as he ran around searching for a ventilation shaft. After finding one, he crawled through the tunnels for half an hour until he finally found a way out. Without turning back once, he ran as far away as he could into the dark of the night.
