Glee!
I have had a very good day. I woke up at a quarter to noon, I bought two Chicago records, I got tickets to Eric Clapton, my SAT scores came in...
... and Full Metal Alchemist posters have come in at Anime Kingdom! I bought one, and it is soooo shiny... (http://www.fullmetal-alchemist.com/gallery/detail.asp?iType=31&iPic=238 being the image). Lea, the lady who works there, and I both agree that Roy is the epitome of coolness. As she put it, "he burns things!" We both want his gloves, hee...
That's all for now... I live in glee today...

for no reason whatsoever!
Just posting for brainstorming purposes. I find that typing stuff really helps me get my brain going when I need to think of stuff. I love conscious streams of thought. ^.^;
Anyway, my to-do list for banners is as follows... suggestions are wanted and will be added as provided.
I brake for unholy holy men
I brake for Mibu Wolves
I brake for Flame Alchemists
I brake for Hitokiri (or Hitokiri Battousai, or something... I can't seem to make this one sound right somehow)
THAT: the only club where you get to stalk and torture attractive men without shame or fear of arrest. join us. you know you want to.
I DON'T brake for Barry (if you've seen the 20th FMA, you know what I mean.)

Banner fun
Two new banners have happily arrived at the banner site. The first in celebration of the selected colors for THAT - red and gold! What good choices! What inspiring colors! What a job that was to get all the fire just right, but to heck with it!
The second one, upon Red's request... splicing and merging all the images was something of a failed attempt, but... yay for gradients. They can hide ANYTHING.
Like 'em? Go grab one!
To do:
"I brake for unholy holy men"
"I brake for Mibu Wolves"
... and more that I can't think of but have written down somewhere.
Off to read this book for math class... Damned Lies and Statistics. It sounds good. Love you all!

FMA musings: the sins
Yay! Full Metal Alchemist makes my brain think!
Okay, there are probably loads of spoilers in this one, so... yeah... spoiler city. Don't read it if you haven't seen most of it, I suggest you not read. Okay? Okay.
(a bit of a break just to make sure. ^.~; )
So, I've re-watched FMA up to the end of 21 now, and things are kind of falling together. A little. Not as much as I'd like, but... a little. And, it's 10:40 at night, I've had too much sugar, and I'm hyped from my voice recital, so HERE GOES! *bang!*
So, a Homunculus is created when somebody tries human transmutation, am I right? So...
We know that Scar's brother tried to transmute someone who died - Scar has remembered at least twice his brother sitting with a girl whose face resembles Lust's face (I'm assuming she was his girlfriend or wife) - and failed. So, I'm thinking that Lust was the product of that transmutation.
We've been told that Wrath was the product of Izumi-sensei trying to transmute her dead child. So, this leaves Envy, Gluttony, and Greed (so far, at least) that we don't know how they came about.
As for Envy, he said at some point or another that he has Ed's father, Hohenheim Elric, to thank for his existance, I believe. If that's right, then Hohenheim either tried human transmutation at least once, or did something that allowed other people to do it (i.e. extensive research or experiments on the topic).
Greed - and I'm assuming that is Greed who was in that creepy room in the 5th Laboratory - states that he had been there for around 130 years. This makes me think that Hohenheim did actually try human transmutation rather than contributing to the research, since it seems like the possibility must have been there long before Hohenheim was around, if Greed is indeed 130 years old.
Gluttony - I don't think we know much at all about him, do we. He really creeps me out, though.
We're still missing two sins, aren't we? We have Greed, Lust, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony... could someone enlighten me as to what the other two are, and whether or not they've shown up (maybe I've just missed one, I dunno)? I'm not too well-versed in this sort of thing. *sheepish*
More... The symbol on the floor of the Philosopher's Stone room in the 5th Laboratory and the symbol that Scar reacts to in that crumbled house in the Ishbal camp in the 30th episode are the same, aren't they? It also seems to me - though I'm not sure - that the transmutation circle on Scar's arm is quite similar to the one that encircled the Philosopher's Stone room. We know that Scar's brother wanted the stone, and that incomplete versions of the stone were used to destroy Ishbal. What were the circumstances under which Scar got his arm? He states that his brother gave it to him, but... what did that entail?
... and finally, what Homunculus was created when Ed and Al tried to transmute their mother? Lust is the only female Homunculus we've met so far, right?
That's all for now... my brain is tired. I want to sleep.
(By the way - yay, more! o.o; - does anyone know if there actually is fabric like Roy has in his gloves? The kind that sparks when you rub it fast enough? I want to make gloves like that, seriously... that'd rock!)
(lookie, Aurus the Honorable Inferno really IS a pyro!)
{Shut up, they know that already anyway!)

good stuff.
I am happy, yes I am... *grins* I bought a set of Weiß Kreuz playing cards at Anime Kingdom today. They are so very pretty, yes they are, yes... *meeps with glee* It makes it kind of hard to play games based on speed, because they're a little distracting... ehehe... that they are... I need to see the series, it has been decided. People keep telling me that it is SO FREAKING GOOD, Aya aside... heh heh... I need a paying job now, I really do.
Going to watch Wolf's Rain tonight. Happy. You know, that one dude, one of the younger wolves... he's gotta be Vash's English voice actor. There's that particular way that whoever it is speaks, something unusual about his consonants, that I swear I would recognize anywhere.
Last but not least... I got new glasses! Twas time again for an eye appointment, and I needed a slight adjustment, so we figured since insurance would cover it, why not get a new pair? So, I got the same frames as my old ones, but in black instead of beige. I LOVE them. And my vision is all sharp and good now. ^.^; Makes me happy.
Note: Japanese bubble gum is SO much better than anything you find in America. Thank you.

blar.
So... yuck. I burned my hand last night. Accidentally hit it against the broiler in the oven. Not cool.
... you know, it's funny. When I first hit it, it didn't hurt... I just felt that my hand had hit something and that it was hot, and since it was in the freakin' oven, I screamed "SHIT!" and got it out of there as fast as I could. When it touched the coil... I could hear my skin sizzle as it burned.
That does a lot of bad things to your brain, hearing your skin fry...
The burn itself was white and the skin around it was all red... did the most sensible thing I could think of, ran it under cold water for as long as I could. After that (and by that time, Mom had come home; my grandmother had been here the whole time), we dressed it with some major painkilling ointment and wrapped it up. It was okay at school, and it doesn't hurt now... I guess that's good...
Whew. So that was my Wednesday. Not cool.
Oh, can anyone point me to a good recording of Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen? The song kicks ass, and I found the sheet music...
*clings to FMA* Al's voice doesn't sound as nice as I could have hoped in the trailer... blast it... oh well. I'll have to wait and see what the rest of them are like, I guess. I agree with just about everyone else here - I'll always prefer the Japanese version. Nihongo itsu mo!
(Did I say that right?)

heh...
So, for old time's sake, my brother and I watched the first five episodes of Rurouni Kenshin. I'd forgotten how cute it could be... I haven't watched any in a while, since I can't afford any more DVD's (I stopped buying them once I finished the part before the Kyoto Arc, since I figured getting the boxed set would be cheaper - of course, I'm saving up for a good digital camera right now, so I can't really buy anything else, ech), so it was fun to go back and watch the early episodes.
... I'd forgotten how sexy Sano's voice (in the sub) is. Hee.
Aaaaanyway... *cough*
... in other news, some friends of mine are embarking on a manga project... at the moment, it doesn't have a title, but I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but I just can't draw well enough (or enough period) for a manga... I'm lucky, though, I have some talented friends. Hopefully there'll be more news on this on Monday once we've met at school and talked a bit.
Anyway... gonna go peck at my evil website now. Gotta get the new layout in gear. Gotta find a better guestbook that's not gonna stuff itself full of ads. I want something sweet to eat...
(Oh... my brother found THE BEST hat ever... it's all hippie-ish and psychadelic... seriously... I gotta get pictures...)

*sob/smile*
I finally watched the last of Fruits Basket.... and... wow, that was sure not the direction I expected it to go! Still... I felt like the whole anime was really well-done, and so touching, I was in tears by the last episode. It makes me want to hug all of them even more, you know?
I won't do much more ranting or analyzing, because I think once I start, I won't be able to stop myself when I get to spoilers... What an amazing series.
I didn't mention this before, largely because I couldn't remember his name... but at SakuraCon, I got a chance to talk to Hiroshi Nagahama (via someone hired to translate for him, of course). At the time, I had only seen the first six episodes, but I told him that I could already tell that there was so much depth in the portrayal of the characters. Now that I've seen the whole series, I don't think I could have said anything more accurate. ^.^; I want to buy the DVDs for myself, now, instead of mooching them from my friend... and I want to get my hands on the manga and the soundtrack (and posters! many posters!). This is such a beautiful anime, and even though it's left a lot of questions unanswered with a very open ending, I'm very pleased with it overall - not just with the development of the story and characters, but also with the quality of the animation and the soundtrack. I'm sure the English dub is decent, but I haven't actually seen the dub yet, I just watched the sub. ^.^;
*jumps off the soapbox* You know, they have Yuki and Kyo plushies available, now? Saw 'em at SakuraCon. So... kawaii... *meeps*
Unrelated notes of randomness... my voice recital is in ten days, Laramie Project opens in about three weeks, and my choir's spring concert is in four. I'm so glad that AP tests are over.
Good night!

I AM Honorable Inferno!
... *strikes a samurai-pose*
Repeat the mantra, everybody. Red! Is! Wonderful! She gave Aurus a shiny-cool assassin name!
I am now... *dun dun dun!* Honorable Inferno, a samurai-assassin with a love of fire and shiny objects. She strictly follows the code... except she hasn't been able to find an exact copy of it yet. Artwork is forthcoming. *evilgrin*
Uhm... I should scan my SakuraCon photos. There's probably sixty of them, total. GAH.
... on another happy note... took my final AP exam today... had American Lit yesterday, and Statistics today. I am done. This is good. My shoulder is killing me from being hunched over a desk for so long. o.o;;
Anyway... stuff... I don't feel like doing anything, and yet I feel as if I must do something. Gonna go find something to do. *floops*

*dies*
... but not before taking the SATs down with me... x.X...
Er, anyway. I have advice for people younger than me. Start your SAT preparation now.
... mkay, I don't really have anything else to say, I'm just killing time. Post time for the Kentucy Derby is in an hour and four minutes, so I'm kinda sitting and unwinding and listening to music.
I went to Anime Kingdom right after the SATs to buy one of the Rurouni Kenshin soundtracks, to find that the parking lot was blocked. By a bus. There had been a near-collision and the bus driver was pissed and there were police and a tow truck there... so I looped around the block and somehow managed to get in the next time I came around. Turns out that the people in the car that had nearly hit the bus had been on their way to Anime Kingdom... and one of them was one of the Ed's that I'd seen at SakuraCon (the one who had a cute little plushie of Al! Eeh!). She was wearing her Ed-coat-cloak-thing, too.
Anyway, now I'm listening to my CD (incidentally, ALL the text is in Japanese, so I only know that I'm listening to Starless now because I have the sheet music and I'm learning it on the piano)... I bought the CD with mostly instrumentals, hoping that it'd help me unwind... not really working. Starless is soooo pretty and I love it very much, but most of the other songs are just making me all jittery and stuff. It's a lot of fight-scene music, after all. Bad choice on my part... but hey, that's OK, it's still good stuff.
On the same note... it's kind of depressing to find that you've FINALLY found the sheet music for a song you love, and you play it, and you play it again, and again and again... then finally get the recording, listen, and discover that the transcription doesn't actually have all of the harmony. Oh well... the transcription that I have is actually within my meager ability, so I guess I should be happy that I can at least play it, right?
Countdown... fifty-six minutes until post time! I'm wondering if I should shut up and get some lunch now.
What I really want to do, actually, is watch more Fruits Basket, then watch more FMA, then eat pocky until it comes out of my ears. That'd be kind of interesting, actually.
But I don't think I will... I think I'll go get lunch. Then maybe stew over ways to evade this 3VIL character limit on our intros... (note to self. Iframes are buggy. Find out how to fix.)
A happy weekend to all. I'm shutting up! Yay! *dies*
