Hey everybody. How's it going?
*Yawn*, went to church earlier this morning. Naturally, my brother had to make it a painful experience, but hey, what do you expect from a turd like him? It's just so great knowing that not even church can be a relaxing experience with him around.
I have the Art Kaiser's class tomorrow. XP Bleh, I hate her class.
Anyway, since I have a good amount of free-time today, I figured I'd get back to doing these FMA-screens like I was a while ago.
Sorry I kinda' forgot about doing these. ^_^"
OK, for those who don't remember, all this basically is is me posting screens from the first episode of FMA as a nostalgic re-cap, and of course with my trademark Logan-kun style of commentary.
I don't suggest reading this part unless you've seen the first episode of FMA, obviously.
I'll pick up where I last left-off.....
Heh heh, it was always funny how people assumed Al was the "Fullmetal Alchemist". XD
*sigh*, and here's where Rose-chan was introduced. Personally, I think she's cute as Hell, and I love her design. Those pink bangs totally make her color-scheme. She was also an incredibly interesting character.
****Mild, vague Spoiler for those who haven't finished the series yet****: It's too bad she was completely brain-dead by the end of the series.
*melts*
Edward introduces himself.
Not a good idea. X3
XD
I like this over-the-shoulder shot of Rose for some reason.
Okey-dokey, I'll be doing more of those in future posts. Hope you enjoyed em'!
Oh, and a 'thank you' to all who took the time to take yesterday's post! I appreciate it! ^_^
"MP38 -Sip" by StudioQube:
'StudioQube' is probably one of my favorite new art-teams in the anime field. Their work looks like it's of professional movie-quality, maybe even comparable to that of the immortal Miyazaki.
I was particularly impressed with this piece by StudioQube. As with any of their work, the lining, coloring and shading are all smoother than the edges of a wispy winter-time could. The proportions and perspective are all perfect, and the rendering of the little school-girl's features are done in an original yet warmly familiar style. Though the colors aren't Quentin Tarentino-vibrant, I'm sort of glad they aren't. The colors in this piece flow like a solid but gentle summer-breeze.
But what really gets me about this piece is the sense of contrast. I love the contrast between the young, innocent school-girl and the classic, dull-metal WWII weapons she's holding. There's no story to this pic as to why a little girl would be posing with such things (get any images of Columbine out of you head); this piece was done for concept, not to tell a story or represent an idea. This piece came about from the artist's interest in old mechanics. The gun is a German MP38, which was later replaced by the MP40 (easier to mass-produce, and eventually got twin-magazine capabilities). The transition between the model of gun used made no difference to the Nazi army, but the effect on the German economy was great. (Information paraphrased from the artist's description.) In the other hand, the girl holds the classic WWII grenade; a model used my all sides as far as I know.
Speaking of the weapons, look at the soft shading on their metallic surfaces. The glossy texture of the duffle-bad was well done too.
Whew, pretty poetic art-review there, eh? Sorry if I started to bore any of you. ^_^"
You can definitely expect to see more from StudioQube, and I'm hoping I've gotten the rest of you interested in their work.
OK everybody, I'll see you tomorrow!
