Confession of an Otaku (from Junior Inquirer)
I'm an OTAKU. You know an anime fan. I collect anime stuff of all kinds, from cards to posters tapes and Cds, T-shirts---everything. I enjoy singing their theme song over and over again. I love to draw every popular anime. The walls of my room are covered with posters or cardboard cut-outs of these anime. My drawer's overflowing with notebooks of my anime sketches. I have surfed the net for anything about anime, saved the picture files on discs and I've printed out, read and kept various info on my favorite anime characters if im not an otaku, I dont know what it is.
My mom says I'm being brainwashed by all these bubble-eyed anime characters. She says they take me away from my usual what-to-dos. I dont think so. I dont think I'm overdoing it at all. My sister says I'm obsessed, so obsessed that I watch anime even on late night TV and still make it to school. So obsessed that i often miss my meals to watch TV. So obsessed that I skip recess and lunch break so I can save my allowance to buy the latest manga, or Japanese comics, I can lay on my eyes on.
But let me just sat I'm satisfied, totally satisfied. This is the way I wanted to be. This is the way otakus are. When we're engaged in these activities, we otakus create a world where our dear anime characters are with us, alive and real. We watch anime flicks then like them forever.
Once one become an otaku, one wants more and more of anime. So if you're one of us, be proud! We live in a pastel-colored dimension where we can't tell fantasy from reality. We are anime!
