2008 Movies of interest

-One Missed Call
Another remake of the Japanese film. I never really caught on to the story but apparently the lead role gets a phone call and hears her friends die, and then her friends die. o.x; In Japan there's like 4 of them, so I would expect the ending to not be "complete." To be honest, I saw the commercial and I couldn't take the evil spirit or whatever all that seriously. Because it/she reminds me of a frog o__o; But I'd probably be scared anyway..! lol.

-Cloverfield
I've seen so many commercials for this movie and the special effects look really cool..! But I just have no idea what it's about. All I know is New York gets attacked by something/one? Maybe some sort of monster movie or something? Well despite not knowing anything about it, the effects make it seem like it's still something interesting to watch though.

-Untraceable
It's about some guy who makes a website to kill his victims based on the number of hits the site gets. The police start to investigate, but then the murderer starts targeting one of them. That's about all I know about it, but it seems like a really suspenseful one. It's kind of questionable, though... I kind of am expecting a lot of plot holes. :T

-The Air I Breathe
From Wikipedia - "The concept of the film is based on an ancient Chinese proverb that breaks life down into four emotional cornerstones - Happiness (played by Whitaker), Pleasure (Fraser), Sorrow (Gellar) and Love (Bacon). The proverb speaks of these emotions, not as isolated fragments of feelings, but as elements that make up the whole of the human existence. Each of the four main protagonists is based on one of the four emotions; and like the proverb their paths are inextricably linked to each other." Overall it sounds really interesting... can't say I know anything about it though.

-The Eye
A remake of the Hong Kong film... I'm sure you all have seen previews for it, but it's about a woman who is blind, gets surgery to fix it, and sees images of people dying. I'm not quite sure how similar the remake will be, but that image they show on the posters with the hand coming out of the eye is creepy!! I hate images like that, makes my own eye hurt.. lol. Honestly I'm not expecting too much.. lately remakes haven't been so great [a few exceptions in the past year I guess.]

-Definitely, Maybe
I must say I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, but I read about it on wikipedia and the way they set it up is different so I thought I might mention it. The protagonist's daughter asks him about his love life before marriage, wanting to know about how he fell in love, and so he starts recounting his life to her, renaming the women in the story so that it she has to guess who he married. So.. in the same way, the viewer has to guess who is the woman too! I probably won't see the movie, but I thought it was cool haha.

-Jumper
It's about a man who can teleport himself anywhere. I must say, it looks interesting but with all due respect it had the weirdest trailer ever. He's "jumping" around and all of a sudden he jumps in a commercial for Windows Vista with Serena... and then she does her commercial exactly the same as she always does and he's just in the background... and then he jumps out at the end of the commercial. Product placement much? o.x;

-Be Kind Rewind
Basically it's a comedy film about two guys who try to save their video store after all the tapes are erased by a magnetic field. How? They make 20 minute films of every movie their one customer decides to rent. I haven't watched too much comedy, but I think this one has potential :D

-Possession
Another remake of a Korean film! This one is based on "Addicted" from 2002. It's about a woman whose husband and brother and law are in a coma... The brother in law wakes up and claims to be the husband. I never heard of this before, but I might check out the original sometime. It sounds interesting! [lol typical Korean film... there's always someone in a coma XD]

-Horton Hears A Who!
...I honestly don't think remaking all these Dr. Seuss stories into movies is a good idea. D: I mean, these books are like what? 30 pages of mostly pictures? Stretching it out into a 1-2 hour feature film is not a great thing to do. :T The animation looks kind of cute though haha. And Steve Carell will be the Mayor of Whoville! o_o;

-21
It's about a group of MIT students who train to become experts in card counting and go to Vegas. I'm not a gambler, but...! The math behind gambling always interested me. It's really cool actually. I'm kind of interested in if this will have too much of the math in it... it would be fun? :D Aaron Yoo is in it as well - the Asian guy from Disturbia. But I only know him from AZN channel so... haha.

-The Forbidden Kingdom
Don't know too much about this one except it's a collaboration between Jackie Chan and Jet Li o_o; So looking forward to it... Weird thing is, I was under the impression that Fearless was Jet Li's last movie?? o.x;

-Iron Man
Well, lately the superhero movies have been doing pretty well and I'm hoping this one won't be an exception. I can't say too much because to be honest, I don't follow comic books all that much, but I like the movies? :D;;

-Speed Racer
As a long time fan of Speed Racer, I can honestly say I have no idea what to expect from the film. I watched a preview and it seems really different from the Speed Racer I remember, but then again, the cartoon is a lot older than the movie and the audience might get bored if it was the old-style car and all that. And Racer X has a girlfriend. WTH? And... Bi/Rain [the Korean singer] is going to be in it. WTH?? John Goodman will make a good Pops though lol. I'll probably see this one when it comes out, but I have no idea if I'll like it or not. But yeah... I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Looking forward to the video game though :3

-The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Well to be honest, I think they could have stopped at the first movie... sequels are never quite as good as the first one (well maybe with a few exceptions). I used to read these books when I was a kid, so I'm kind of interested in how they'll portray Prince Caspian, though. I was really happy with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, so I hope they still do a good job with this one.

-Midnight Meat Train
This is TOTALLY NOT MY STYLE OF MOVIE... but I thought it was cool because Ryuhei Kitamura is going to be directing it! Won't change the fact that I'm not seeing it, but it should be good. The story is pretty much about a photographer who tries to find a serial killer named the "Subway Butcher."

-Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
So... lately a lot of these actors are making sequels to movies that they were in years and years ago. Which is all their choice and all, but a little strange to me. I mean.. he's 64 now right? :T But if it's a good movie, I'll see it. I hope it plays out kind of like the original though~. Because the original was really good! :'D

-The Happening
Well... I probably won't see this but the premise is kind of different. It's about a global environmental crisis in which the plants of the earth release neurotoxins that cause people to commit violent suicide. The protagonists try to escape the epidemic. o.x; Weird huh? Absolutely not plausible, but an interesting idea. Probably a super bloody movie. o.x; However... M. Night Shyamalan made The Village... which was also really stupid I heard. :T

-The Incredible Hulk
Well I was never a big fan of The Hulk (preferred X-Men and Spiderman lol) but I saw some production features and the special effects look pretty amazing. o_o; Technology sure has taken us a long way lol. As long as they put a good story to it, it probably would be fun to watch (:

-Get Smart
:DDDD I'm really looking forward to this one. I used to watch Get Smart on TV Land when I was younger, and I think Steve Carell is a good choice for him. I'm hoping that it will be a good film, because he really deserves to be in one T___T For those of you who don't know, Get Smart was a spy parody show on TV in the sixties. It was really funny~ :'D

-WALL-E
Pixar has not yet disappointed me, and I can't wait to see this one! It looks like a really adorable film about a little robot who is all alone on earth and is programmed to help clean up and falls in love with EVE, a robot that comes from a probe to examine the Earth. I have really high hopes for this one. :D

-The Dark Knight
Well Batman Begins was a really good film. I don't know how good the sequel will be, but I think this is only the second film so I don't think it will be too bad (: This one features the Joker.. I think the look they gave him suits him well for the film.. you can really imagine everything about him just from his outer appearance. Hoping this one will be as good as the last.

-Dragonball
Um. No. I don't think this is going to work out. A live action Dragonball is weird. A live action Dragonball with Justin Chatwin as Goku? Um... no. o.x; Overall, I think there are some things that simply aren't meant to be live action, and this is one of them. o.x; And wow, Park Joon Hyung is going to be Yamcha. I can't picture him as anyone but g.o.d.'s rapper... o.x; [just looked him up at Wikipedia, I had no idea he went to CSULB!! What's with all these California schools that Koreans like so much? lol]

-Where the Wild Things Are
Yeah... I really don't think books like this should be made into a movie. o.x; I think it's always nicer as just a simple picture book.. :T

-High School Musical 3: Senior Year
I am not a High School Musical fan. But my sister is, meaning I will inevitably see this movie one day or another. D: BUT PLEASE... I know Disney is making a lot of money off of this HSM thing, but seriously I think it's time for them to start making another movie. There's only so much you can say about high school, and I think it's just getting to be way too much. D:

-Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Well, we're almost done with the Harry Potter series! I was happy with the fifth one, so I'm hoping I still will be for this one, althought it will be substantialy harder what with the book being maybe 200 pages longer o.x; It seems like they will be having a lot of what was in the book originally, so the concern would be that they only touch on each event and make it kind of confusing for the viewer... overall, I still will go watch it either way. haha.

-Star Trek XI
Too many Star Treks...!! Kind of weird that they're using the characters from the original series.. lol.

-9
An animate movie from Tim Burton! "9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A community of fully mobile rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Elijah Wood), displaying leadership qualities that may help them to survive. The conflicted but resilient community includes 1 (Christopher Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Martin Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (John C. Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Crispin Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Jennifer Connelly), a brave warrior." --Wikipedia. Sounds really interesting, can't wait to see it. Not scheduled to come out until next Christmas though ):

Future Movies of Interest

-Coraline
A stop-motion film that looks really cute...!! "Coraline is a young, bored girl who discovers that a bricked-up wall behind a door in her flat leads to another world, with another mother, and another father. When she tries to go back, she realizes that her other mother has kidnapped her real parents and she must fight to get them back." Apparently it was at Comicon 2007... o.x

-The Lovely Bones
Seems weird to have it as a film. I read the book and I think it would be kind of hard to make it a movie.. o.x; It's a pretty disturbing book :T lol

-Neopets
OMG WTH IS THIS? I didn't even know Neopets had a plot? o_o; Apparently it's going to be in CGI... but that's all that's really known about it. Seems pretty weird... lol.

-Angels and Demons
I haven't actually read it, but I heard it's a good book. But... judging by the Da Vinci Code.. I wouldn't really hold it to that high a standard. :T

-X-men Origins: Wolverine
It's supposed to be a prequel showing Wolverine when his skeleton was bonded with adamantium, seventeen years before the first X-men film. I'm a fan of the X-Men series, so hopefully it will be good.

-Up
Another film from Pixar about a "seventy-something guy who lives in a house that "looks like your grandparents' house smelled." He befriends a clueless young Wilderness Ranger and gets into lots of altercations. Says Pixar: "Our hero travels the globe, fights beasts and villains and eats dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon."" It's not set until June 2009, but the preliminary sketches are gorgeous T___T

-Ponyo on a Cliff
Miyazaki's latest film. It looks really cute.. about a goldfish princess who wants to be human. The art is mostly watercolor-looking, and it looks really cute~ lol

Other films that seem intersting but have no information lol
-The Jetsons (live action??)
-Justice League
-Magneto
-The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - last one..!!
-The Hobbit (prequel)
-Mr. Peabody and Sherman
-Astro Boy

Other sequels and remakes that are probably too much..
-Transformers 2
-Ice Age 3
-The Birds - why mess with a classic? D:
-Jurassic Park IV
-Shrek Goes Fourth
-Shrek 5
-Puss in Boots: The Story of an Ogre Killer
-Spiderman 4
-Toy Story 3
