The New Uncanny X-men
Introduction
Charles Xavier a brilliant genealogist; pondered the future of America 1962. He perceived the racial tension of the era was beginning to boil over and would scold his fair nation ever after. Leaving the posterity nothing to gain unless they retaliated now and took what was theirs. Compared to the option of domestic turmoil and political tyranny running amuck; “protecting and securing a world that may always fear and hate” isn’t so bad.
And so the X-men were born, “Children of the Atom”, FREAKS. The first student and adopted son of Xavier was the reckless Scott Summers. Orphaned at an early age, and possessing the ability to emit concussive beams from his eyes. Although his abilities do not blind his sight Scott sees the world with a heart that trusts few and risk little. It is because of this frugal sense of virtue he is committed to a life, even after many deaths.
It is the year 2006 and the X-men have disbanded nearly 40 years since the beginning of their agency against racism and the society’s abuse. All that remains of the original team is Scott, Warren, and Bobby. Jean, the Professor, and Hank were killed in the battles against Apocalypse along with other members of super-heroic teams and offsets of the X-men. Many of those groups have also disbanded.
The New Uncanny X-men
Prologue
The world has changed. Following the collapse of Apocalypse’s regimen the once powerful economies of the world are laid bare and their cities desolate. The Nations have united in an effort to return to a stable, secure way of life, but the consequence of this Union is a world under “one hand with many heads”, and many different agendas.
Despite Apocalypse’s ambitions many of those he employed (beside his horsemen) in his worldwide human genocide campaign were humans in powerful positions. And although the armies of the world opposed Apocalypse, their efforts were surpassed by common heroes once regarded as freaks and the super endowed individuals no longer feared or hated. Mutants have entered an age of acceptance, but now much is expected of them. Might this new age of enlightenment and reconstruction be wasted on the new generation or will those who can, and those who must, carry on the legacy.
Mason Summers is the son of Scott Summers and the late Jean Grey-Summers. He is not at all the Summer’s biological child. He is the accumalation of many mutant genes; he resembles the catalyst of the genes, the immortal mutant conqueror Apocalypse. Accordingly Scott Summers has been a detached father but nevertheless a figurative part of Mason’s life. Mason has grown to become a mature but pretentious 15 year old boy. Mason’s closest family is Ororo Munroe, the Wagner family; from whom he has learned the most from during his home schooling with illustrious former members of the Uncanny X-men.
Prologue
“Time is not linear in any sense. No course stream to be waded or endless path to be wandered. It is a pool and an oasis, a sky of wonders and clouds that no man can persieve or navigate. It is our purpose to take a place in the odyssey. Strike an adventure, and dive into the mass of chance.” -Ignatius
