Fair concerns.

Before I start I'd like to say that I respect John and what he said, but I just wanted to talk about this.
From John
Although I do share all the views of pretty much everyone else that's commented on here - how could I not? lol - but I frankly don't think this post was necessary. Stating your views on the thread is one thing, but asking other people if they feel the same way and then carrying on with a full-fledged conversation about them (or against them, rather) wasn't your best choice in this situation. I know this because I personally have seen a lot of this in real life, and with people that I otherwise respected. If you wanted to know what others thought about the situation, you should've just asked them to post their opinions in the thread, where Lady Rin would see them. Not here, where it's basically like whispering about her behind her back. Thumbs-down, B-man.
My reply
Fair enough, John. I can respect that.
But, on the other hand, ranting about that in the thread is not the way to go. Threads are for issues, not personal views. myO is where I can talk about whats going on in my life, where I can voice my opnion on matters.
Is it going behind her back? I think not. At any time she could visit. I'm not particularly worried. I'm not saying "OMG she is such a bitch lets exclude her". I wasn't saying that she was a bad person. My whole post was subjective and based on my opinions of her. And then I asked what other people thought about her.
I wondered if it was just me.
Thankyou though John. I can see where you're coming from.
That is in the comment box two down from this one. I can understand John's concerns. The content of my last post is surely...contentious. But my intentions were anything but to go behind her back. How would a thread like that have been recieved by OB? Not well, I'd imagine. mO is for anything personal you'd like to throw out into your own arena. So, I'm sorry if you didn't like that last post John. I just thought I'd explain my feelings to you.
To you all. |

This post exists for the sole purpose of ranting about Lady Rin. So, if you like her, feel free to take this post with a pinch of salt.
Now, onto the subject. This woman annoys the living hell out of me. I hate her 'holier-than-thou' attitude, and her whole online manner. The way she comes in, and overnight seems to want to single-handedly change the forums. Her whole manner is one of... patronisation, I feel. Maybe it is just me, I don't know. But the tone of many of her posts just rubs me the wrong way. And then there is....Ranger. Cop this; "The dumbest thing? Baron Samedi asking Rins age. I'm surprised she didn't put you into time out."
I didn't even ask how old she was. And it is posts like this that just amaze me. If you want to see the whole sordid deal [and my subsequent replies] visit This thread.
Most of the gory stuff starts on page two, but read it all anyway. So, in summing up: How do you feel about Lady Rin? Do you like her or not, and why?
And was this post justifiable or not?
Frankly I don't care if you think it was, because this is a subjective thing...but tell me anyway. Feel free to rant at me if I'm unjustified. Have fun. |

Camp
Comment |
Permalink
Well, I'm back from camp. I had a pretty good time to. We did a lot of fun stuff, and some serious stuff too. We visited some Universities, a few things like the Supreme Court, Maritime Museum and stuff like that. We also went to Q-Zar which is like a lazer shooting game, where you're in a big mazey-type level thing, with two storeys, and you run around shooting each other. Its fun, lol. I think I got the highest score out of both teams for it, actually, which is cool.
I kind of expected most of the people on the camp to be Nerds...but, actually, most of us were normal. lol. A pleasant surprise, heh. We also went on a high ropes course...but I might do a post on that another time...I'll need content for more boring days.
A fair bit of stuff happened on camp actually. Yeah, some interesting stuff. But, sadly, some of it was marred by a particular jerk-off, by the name of Adam [no relation to our esteemed Founder]. Anyway, this guy was a complete....loser. Ggrrr. Don't you hate that?
Anyway, it was relaxing and fun, and stuff. So, the camp was good. I give it an 8/10 rating.
[Edited: This is just some work I need to get home from here]
The opening scene of the film shows Helen digging up potatoes in [her garden?] whilst
in the background she recounts a childhood memory of the neighbourhood bully. She uses
this reference in context with their fight againt McDonalds, and how what her mother
advised to deal with the bully, worked with mcDonalds too. You have to hit them back.
And if someone is trying to make you do something you don't want to, you
"have to stand up to them and say 'No, I'm not going to do it, I'm not going to give
in to your intimidation and bullying'"
The visuals themselves begin with Helen unearthing a potato, which could be an indication
of their 'healthiness', the fact that they're eating healthy, natural foods, and then
it shifts to Helen when the audio commentary she made switched the bully analogy over
to McDonalds. This 'grass-roots', approach to the introduction helps us feel closer to
Helen and Dave. The more that we see of them in their natural lives, the more we realise
that they are ordinary people, fighting against extraordinary odds. The purpose of this
early scene was obviously to bond us to Helen and Dave...it gives us our first impressions
of them.
By showing Helen digging up her vegetables, it softens any harsh images we may already
have of her in our minds, whilst nthe childhood memory recounting makes us feel close,
but also gives us a better understanding of the context that is going on.
The scene where Dave is telling his part of the Private Investigator story is a well
designed element. It crosses over two main types of video work, Close-shot and Medium-shot.
Each serve their purpose, the first two interest us, and the second to disgust us, when
placed along side the innocent images of Charlie playing. It is this form of
juxtaposition, the conflicting tones presented by either two visual pieces, a visual
and an audio, or two audios that are one of the best ways to increase the depth of feeling
we recieved from a particular image or line.
The scene where Dave, Helen and Keir [their legal advisor] are discussing the difficulties
inherent in two civilians attempts to represent themselves in a legal case. Each take different
areas of the problem, such as the actions of the judge, the difficulty Helen and Dave would
have in proving their claims, etc. The shots are mostly a variety of close-shots, designed
to acquaint us in a more personal feel with the defendants. it positions us on their side.
The use of negative terms and feelings in regard to McDonalds ['breathing down your neck'],
as well as the feeling of pity we have for Helen and Dave in terms of the difficulty
of the situation they faced, are emphasised by the shot of Dave working in amongst reams of papers
and files, and his use of wording for the impression he got from the judge 'What are these
people doing in my Courtroom? |

Geez, I can barely see at the moment. I look at my computer screen and it's all bright and hurting my eyes >_<
Good thing I type and look at the keyboard. There are sunflashes all over my eyes, lol.
Anyway, I haven't been here for too long. Sorry to you all. Today I am going up to Perth, because all of next week I have a camp on for this special 'smart-kids' program thing that I do. It [the program] runs from Yr 8 to Yr 10, so this is my last year doing it. It should be fun. I have so much stuff to tell you, but now that I am here typing it up I can't remember any of it lol. Doesn't help that my eyes are really pissing me off. Anyway, LSN is coming along decently. I should be just aboiut finished soon, I think. Aside from getting it up online, configuring radio.blog, configuring MoveableType, figuring out other stuff...yeah, I'm almost done :p
One things for sure. mO looks far better in IE than it does in Firefox. In fact, mO looks like crap in Firefox >_<

LSN is coming along famously.
Today I made twenty-four 50x50 links for it. Six lots, with four per series. Each series is based around a certain theme. First sseries is based on my LSN graphics, second is based on my current mO scheme, third series is based on an awesome desktop I have, fourth is based on a series of identical backgrounds I made, fifth and sixth are based on a combination of banners/avatars and old mO themes. Seriously, it was such a memory trip.
And, of course, I have a Hagar image. Nice.
I had all these awesome visions of using CSS margins to make my site all neat and stuff. Unfortunately...well, it just didn't seem to work. So, I committed a horrible atrocity: I used tables to design my site.
Oh, the horror! At least it was easier to do though, lol. If I'm ever going to get this site up here, I'll need someone to validate it for me in Mozilla. It looks great in IE. But, I opened it in Mozilla and...
Well, I shut it quickly, lol.
I'm going to make a few 35x100 links as well, tommorrow. I've completed the Linkage area of my site, just about.
I have my input [LSN links] and my output [links to other people] done. Most of it, anyway.
I'm planning on making my clan site tommorrow morning. Oh, and why did I get all of this stuff done today? Because we had a day off school. Excellent, hey!
Sorry to bore you to death with my site information, but thats the digs. Or something, lol.
Enjoy.

Project LSN

Josh has a big project.
Josh is making a website.
Josh has started the index, and finished the splash page.
I've still got a long way to go though >_<
Aah well. It's really enjoyable. This term I have a web-design class, and my website is going to be designed for the domain-name "laststandingnetwork.com".
So, if anyone would care to buy me an early Xmas present of a domain name...I'd be very happy ;)
Anyway, it'll probably never be 'realised' online, i.e. I won't ever got it online. But making the website is enough for me.
It's a bit of a learning experience. I'm primarily doing it in HTML, but I've used a smidgeon of CSS [to remove underlining in hyperlinks]. I can't say that my site will be "HTML 4.0 standardised" and whatnot...hell, I don't even know what that means. But it will look good, and thats all that really matters, lol. To me, anyway. Hopefully I can figure out how to get Moveabletype up and running, and find out about 'PERL' and all this other stuff.
Anyway, in further news, I've been incredibly active on OB. Around 50 posts in the past week, I believe. Actually, it's about 9 days. Maybe it's been more than 50 posts- I'm not sure. But I have been very active on the Boards, just not so active here. Consider yourselves privileged to recieve an update ~_^ lol.
Also, broadband is out on the horizon, for sure. I'm just waiting to see if the ocean's current will carry me and my raft to the island, or send me out to sea. It'd be nice. Oh, wait, no it wouldn't.
It'd be f**king excellent. lol. Excusez moi francaise, lol.
Sorry for the dreadful lack of direction or continuity in this post. But, hey, you got a post outta me. Stay tuned for further updates.
PS: Yippee! I've broken the 3000 visits barrier! |

I'd like to thank you all for your...responses to my post yesterday.
It was...good, heh.
Anyway, I did stuff today, but nothing I can really be bothered mentioning. Sorry, lol. At the moment I am at home alone. I was home alone last night too. My mum is in Mandurah to watch a choir performance with my nanna.
So, yeah. I did a lot of OBing today. And had a friend here for a while.
I can't get back into the swing of posting...but someone who doesn't need to is DDG who has posted for over two and a half months on every day. Impressive, nay. I thought so too. |

Quoth the raven, nevermore:
I am unaware of what exactly constitutes a "repeat image", but I would assume that it'd involve the same picture. Yes?
Now, the two wallpapers of mine that you deleted, were, until light of further evidence arises, wantonly deleted. i.e. for no reason. They were different to the others. One of the Black and white images you deleted had eye colour [a common alteration on black and white images] and the other was a sepia-toned version of the coloured one. Different colours completely.
Now, I am at home. My wallpapers are at my dads. This means I cannot resubmit these pictures. Until the Christmas holidays. Which is 2 months away for me in Australia. Gail passed them all together, so she knows whats what with them. But, now I cannot resubmit. And have lost two wallpapers that were doing quite well.
So, yeah. Thanks. A lot.

Thats me and my rant against animefreack [spelling, anyone? I mean, come on, the dumbass variations people have] the wallpaper moderator who deleted two oif my pieces. As you may be able to tell, they were different. As Panda knows.
So, yeah. I'm thrilled to pieces.
[If you were wondering, that 'rant' was my reply to the 'Notification of Deletion' email I recieved from animefreack] |

Drifter In The Dark

Well, after that extended burst of activity, I'll probably be drifting off again. Sorry, but thats how my time goes. It's great to see others coming back though, especially sexy Karmi ;), but I cannot manage [with my limited net time] to keep up a good presence here. On weekends I'll probably visit but...yeah. It takes me two hours to do what I want to on here. I get about two hours Saturday and Sunday mornings...if I do no gaming. Maybe when [if I ever...though it should be soonish] get broadband, it may be different. But really, homework and marks are important,and I don't dedicate enough time to my work as it is. Morrowind, whilst I played it, sucked enough of my time up, whether I was playing it or reading about it. I don't have the best time management skills, and combined with [potentially] the worst bedtime ever, I cannot do both what I want, and what I need to in the precious few hours I have. So, sorry but I'm not going to be around much [again]. And this is just how the school-terms'll be. But expect to see a renewed effort over my Christmas holidays. This network is special to me ^_^;
And, if you can guess what my post title refers to, you get a kiss, or a hug or a handshake. You choose.
Seeya's around. Hopefully.
You know where to contact me. Email.
