Genie, the neglected child
![](http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g228/ayame_envy_luver/samuraichamploopost.jpg) | .:Bbast:.
I had to research about his for extra credit in psychology, and I thought it was intersting/shocking, so now you all get to read it, too!
Genie
Genie was a small withered girl who had been locked up and kept separated from the outside world and other people by her father. She was found at the age of thirteen, but was so small that she appeared to be six or seven. Her father had locked her up to protect her from the “dangers” of the outside world. She was tied naked to a toddler’s potty seat all day long and slept in a sleeping bag with arms restrained in a wire and wood crib-cage at night. Whenever she made a noise her father would bark at her or beat her. She was only given baby foods and mush to eat. Her toys were all old junk, like cottage cheese containers and thread less spools. She only recognized about 20 words, and could say only a few, all of them negative ones, such as “no” “stoppit” “and “nomore”. Once she was found, psychiatrists were all trying to study her, and she became more of a guinea pig than anything. She was thrust into society and didn’t adapt very well. She is now currently living in a home for retarded adults. (NOTES This all began in 1970. Her father shortly killed himself after Genie was discovered.)
Yeah, very shocking. I can't belive that could actually happen, but there are very sick, stupid people out there. And shame on the psychologists and scientists for just using this poor child. Whe the Doctor-guy's grant and child money ran out, he just put Genie in a foster home! How awful is that?! Grrrr. . .makes me mad, what people do. . .*fumes for few minutes* Anyway, hope everyone had a good day! I got new cleats, and they're wicked awesome, cause thy're nike and black and silver! And I got new shinguards, and they're gold! Yay for new things! Later.
