Hey everyone!!! It's my first time really getting on the internet since this vacation's started. It's been a hectic past few days. This post is probably going to end up being semi-long so I'll start with the important stuff now.
We pretty much spent our Wednesday on the plane to Orlando and then from Orlando we drove to Gainesville (where the actual wedding was taking place).
We went to the mall and toured a little in Gainesville with my uncle (he's the one who was getting married) and my two older cousins. We also had extra time so we watched our Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door DVD.
My older sisters, mom's cousin, and my mom's cousin's daughter (I hope you understand that) came to town from the airport in Tampa. We picked them up and since St. Pete (where I grew up and lived before we moved to Illinois) is only less than 30 minutes away, we went down there. While they all toured around, me and 2 of my sisters had to go get our hair done. It ended up looking worse than it did before. Well, now it looks worse. It didn't last more than that day xD
We met up with some family friends too. My mom's best friend has daughters around our ages and we hadn't seen them in 3 years so it was cool. They were going to the wedding too so we drove back to Gainesville with them. There was a pre-wedding dinner but we were late because the drive was so long. We showed up though and I got to meet some aunts and cousins.
It was such a hectic day. Our cars were late, the limo to pick up my aunts and mom never showed, we were still waiting for a ride until like 5 minutes before the wedding was supposed to start, but we still made it. At one point, we had to stop at a red light and rearrange the seatings in the car since one was almost empty while the other had people sitting in the trunk. A bunch of people were jumping out of cars and switching, it was crazy. The whole time I was just hoping that light didn't turn green XD
It was such a prettiful and expensive wedding. I have pictures on my camera, but since I don't have my USB cord, I'll upload them later. I'll show all vacation pictures when I get back home (we're not back yet. We're coming back Thursday night).
It was a mixture of Nigerian and American culture. They still did the bouquet and the garter which are American things, but added this one part where the groom dances with his mom and everyone gathers around and throws cash all over them ^^;; It was an interesting dance. There were lots of weird Nigerian dances. I feel so under-cultured. I can't even speak the language >_> I would go into more detail about the wedding, but I don't want to bore you guys.
We hung out with our cousins in the morning. My one younger cousin Blair is the cutest thing in the world. He's 7 and has this little stuttering problem, but it makes him even cuter. His older brother (he's 13) got all angry that Blair got all the attention, but it's hard to resist the cuteness ^^
After they all left, we went back to my now-married uncle's house and hung out with my mom's friends and the bride. One of my cousins stayed. He's so tall. He's like 6'7 which is pretty huge compared to my 5'6 XD He plays basketball (obviously since he's so tall) and we wanted to see how high he could jump. He jumped over me, which was pretty weird >_<
After we left we drove down to Orlando where we're going to be for the rest of the trip. We're staying in this awesome, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom hotel suite. It's huge for a hotel. There's so many activities to do just in the hotel. We might go back down to St. Pete one day. I'm not sure when. It's so hard imagining living in Florida after being gone so long. I lived here for most of my life, but for some reason, Illinois feels more like home.
Well, this post is long enough and I didn't even go into that much detail. I guess since it's 2 a.m., I'm not really in the mood to remember every little thing. If I forgot anything important I'll just add it in the post I make when I get back home. Laters
