I've been listening to this song repeatedly over the past couple days. It was written and sung by the now internets famous terra naomi.
The more time I spend on YouTube, the more I appreciate the plethora of homemade videos. There really is a lot of great stuff on there. Comments (2) |

A friend of mine said that I've "become so condescending."
I'll take it as a compliment. :3

The Departed is really cool. I had such a great time watching it yesterday. It's the type of movie that's especially fun to watch in theaters because it gets such a reaction from the audience; I've never heard so many collective gasps or oh nos in a theater before.
To those of you who have seen the trailer, it does a good job of showcasing the serious aspects of the movie, but the two things it fails to prepare you for is the 'inventive' use of profanity (Jack Nicholson is the biggest potty mouth in this) and the humor. Surprisingly the movie is really funny, though some of it is very dark. Like there's this one scene early on when Nicholson's character shoots some helpless lady in the back of the head, then laughs because "she fell funny."
It's definitely the most entertaining action movie I've seen in a long time, and I highly recommend it to anyone who can stand profanity and watching graphic violence. And I don't mean Kill Bill-style fountains of blood type violence; I mean repeatedly beating someone's broken wrist with the heel of a boot type violence. Still ridiculous, yeah, but just realistic enough to make you cringe. Comments (0) |

The above is the first five minutes of the not terribly well-known film What's Eating Gilbert Grape, which stars Johnny Depp as Gilbert Grape and Leonardo Dicaprio as his mentally challenged younger brother. I first watched this film a little over a year ago, and since then I've primarily used it as proof of two things:
1) Dicaprio can in fact act
2) Johnny ages extremely well
In any case, the film is worth watching if not just to see Johnny in one of his few not-so-out-there roles. (And he's stated that this character reflects his younger self in a lot of ways, so I suppose that alone would interest most fans of his.)
Wow, human world apples are great. What do they call this? 'Juicy?'
Now that I've seen the first episodes of both Death Note and D.Gray-man, I can safely say both are turning out to be excellent adaptions. (Though I'm still somewhat disappointed that the "skeleton crawling into the priest's mouth" scene was edited in the latter series. That scene was KEWL.)
"Generic J-Rock" opening and ending themes aside, DN has realllllly nice music. Depending on the scene, it's either reminiscent of the music of Escaflowne or Silent Hill, oddly enough. Also, was it just me or did anyone else find Light's DRAMATIC HAND GESTURES!!111 near the end of the episode absolutely hilarious?
With no good transition whatsoever, I'm going to start talking about movies now. :D
I'm seeing The Departed tomorrow, which I'm now totally hyped for. It seems like a lot of fun, at least for violence mongers like me. Two less publicized movies I'm also interested in seeing are The Last King of Scotland and The Queen, the latter of which I may or may not be able to catch at the Chicago International Film Festival this week. In Lit class, we have a weekly assignment of posting a certain number of replies on the class messageboard. Because I'm a total geek, I often read my classmates' responses, and I LOVE when friends of mine try to use big words to make their posts look more intelligent. Like one friend who wrote:
As my peers have so diligently indicated, the elements of a vampire story include the absorption of youth and or innocence in any carnation by a usually evil and older form of darkness in any carnation.
Last time I checked, carnations are the things you give out on Valentine's Day. XD
And just to write about anime for the first time in years, Paprika sounds really interesting. And woah, Megumi Hayashibara is in it! I wonder if she'll sing the theme song too. :3 Comments (2) |

~ Her skin was as white as Anthrax.
I need for someone to look over my AP Lit paper. Preferably someone who's read Frankenstein and can get the paper back to me by Monday night at the latest.
And someone who can differentiate between active and passive voice. Because, you know, I can't. >_> Comments (4) |
