Preview of X-Japan's new song. Who would've ever thought this would happen ten years after their disbandment and nine years after hide's death. Admittedly, I've never been the biggest X-Japan fan, but I've always had a great amount of respect for them. And this preview, all thirty seconds of it, sounds absolutely amazing.
(For the record, I love how J-Rock is slowly worming its way back into my life, even though I'm primarily a K-popper at the moment.) Comments (0) |

This makes my entire life:
Preview of Koda Kumi & DBSK's LAST ANGEL PV. It's only forty seconds long, but it is the best forty seconds EVER. From the looks of things, this'll be the only Japanese music video of theirs thus far that might rival their Korean MVs. Seriously, I will be stalking bestiz like crazy from here on out waiting for the full version. [x_x = me in two days if this PV isn't released by then]
Bizarre Cultural Note About Japan: The term S&M doesn't have sexual connotations there. They're actually considered personality types. If you're the sadomasochist type, you're more domineering in friendships/relationships. If you're masochistic, you're more submissive. There's even online personality quizzes and such to determine which type you are.
So if you ever find yourself trapped within a group of Japanese schoolgirls for what ever reason, and one of them says, "Erika-chan wa S TAIPU da ne," now you know what the eff they're talking about. Comments (1) |

This had me laughing for 3 minutes straight. I don't know why I find Jaejoong as an abusive pimp so funny, but.
I was in such a funky mood all of today. Case in point: when I was preparing to eat cereal this morning, I grabbed a cup and a fork. A cup and a fork.I blame everything on Joongie.
I'm not entirely sure what I think of this song. I think I like it? But it sort of seems like something is missing and keeping the song from being really great. In any case, I can't wait for the PV! I'm SO happy that the boys play such an integral part in the song when they easily could have been relegated to singing accompaniments only.
And better still, it's a dance song! FINALLY, Avex is taking advantage of the fact that: danceable music + Korean people = crazy dance routines. Seriously, it's all in the math.
EDIT: LOL. I don't even try to use transitions anymore. What is the point. Comments (0) |

It is good to have friends with money.
...Because the boys are releasing a $50 five-disc DVD set (with English subtitles!) that comes in a gorgeous box set, with colored inserts of each group member and a folded poster included with each purchase. And I would totally buy this myself, except all the cash I currently have on hand is going to Remy. (Being in two expensive fandoms kind of sucks kthx.)
But thankfully, Friend With Money(TM) comes to the rescue and offers to buy the set so that the two of us can geek out over it together. And I'm stealing the poster when she's not looking.
A preview of what we're getting. Apparently, one of the discs contains a filming of the boys' very own embarrassingly retarded variety show. THANK YOU, KOREA. I sincerely hope SM pays the boys a lot of money to do this kind of crap. <3
And I like how I can actually understand bits and pieces of what they are saying. OMG. Their language isn't just meaningless garble to me now! Comments (3) |

If there is an alien. And he speaks Korean, what would you say? He doesn't speak alien because he's half-Korean. Let's call him ...Wae-dong.
I went to my first college visit yesterday. While I was there, I attended a meeting about International Studies as a major, took a campus tour and saw the really large dorm rooms for upperclassmen, ate (free!) lunch with a college student who just so happened to come from my school's primary rival school, haha. I also found out that the school had a really big thing about sending students abroad; there's even the possibility of sending a student to study in two separate countries within the same year without it interfering with course credits and such. It was really nice overall... in spite of it taking 6 hours in total to drive there and back. :(
Changmin's newly short hair! He looks kinda Latino now with the way that it's curled, but eh. He recently got his first modeling gig in a Japanese fashion magazine, which he totally, utterly deserves. Go Min! *o*
On a much more sour note, my Korean teacher is kind of retarded. (Or maybe I'm retarded for taking the one and only language ever in which I seem to have trouble with spelling?) But I love DBSK Korea enough to PUT UP WITH IT GODDAMNIT. Comments (2) |

According to my iPod, I am insane.
You guys. That's officially over 1,100 pics of the boys in total. And that's not even including a couple more I saved just nowAHHHHHHHHHH. I fear that my collection will become so huge that one day I will venture into my Jaejoong folder and never return. :(
Heck, forget pictures, just look at that playlist! I don't know why all this still surprises me at this point, but. I'm going to have to join a support group soon, I swear.
I spent some time making gifs earlier. The only reason why I haven't been making many of these as of late is because I actually had no editing program to use until a couple weeks ago; when I first started creating gifs, I was using the trial version of a program. XDDDD
AMAZING NEWS.
So it just so happens that a fellow JE/DBSK fan who I know through LJ attends one of the more "reach" colleges I'll be applying to within the next couple months. I'm planning to do an overnight visit some time early next month, and even though I'm not particularly close to this girl, I figured I should muster up the courage to ask if I could tag along with her throughout the duration of my stay.
And she said yes! I'm particularly excited about this since her dorm room is so awesome. She owns a futon that she said I could use for the night, and best of all, her walls are completely covered with posters of JE boys, DBSK, and Super Junior. Seriously, her room is more decked out than Gia's.
...Now, to actually set up the appointment. x_x
Junsu's Rainy Night solo performance. Because I don't fangirl over this man enough, despite me having the utmost respect for him as a singer. He is thusfar the only member of DBSK who has managed to make me tear up through his performances. (Because I'm a sap like that.)
Question.
Why is it that on the college apps, when they ask what your GPA is on a 4.0 scale, there's always an option of "4.0 or higher?"
If they're basing it on a 4.0 scale, that means unweighted, right? So how could someone have higher than a 4.0?
EDIT: Also, what exactly does "250 word minimum" mean? Do they actually want around 250 words or are they really expecting more than that? o_o;; Comments (4) |

I really like how these turned out, even though I made them with no real purpose in mind. But I think I've sincerely learned to appreciate how well these boys take pictures. Even if I weren't physically attracted to them, I think the photographer in me would love to work with them, if ever given the chance, just on the basis of how photogenic they are. (And photogenic to me means something more than simply "attractive.")
And speaking of photogenic: Super Junior. I'm totally supposed to be ignoring them in favor of DBSK, but their new MV reeks of nice clothing. I even watched their new movie last night, and it was horribly entertaining. Good looking bastards. :(
EDIT: OMG apparently I'm so anal that I went back and edited one of the pics in the Jaejoong/Yunho collage that was slightly blurry. And I'm supposed to be working on college apps right now, so why am I still spending time gushing over Korean boys AGHHH *keels self* Comments (0) |

Sugoi ja...jamen.
Lately, I've found myself subscribing more and more to the "screw standards; I like what I like" way of thinking. Which is incredible considering that, until just recently, I've always been a snob. This was especially true for music. Whenever I liked a song of a genre/group I typically snubbed, I would refuse to acknowledge that fact simply because the song didn't fit the self-imposed quality level of music I was supposed to like. Which, frankly, is just stupid.
I think it takes a great deal of confidence to openly like something, particularly something that you're aware others might considered banal or tasteless, without fear of being judged or lumped into a category. And it's (hopefully) the direction I've been heading in over the past few months.
So basically, I've been trying to Americanize my music listening habits a bit. I think this effort was partly inspired by my finding out that the K-Pop fans in Singapore know more about American music than me, which is just so sad. Though I figure if I'm already at the point where I can listen to Justin Timberlake songs and genuinely like them, I'm already doomed. XD
Anyway, on a much less heavy note:
My CD came in on Thursday! It's one of those merchandise oddities that looks way better in person than it does on camera or scanned. I honestly thought the cover image was flat-out unattractive when I first saw the preview of it online, but the overall package turned out looking so snazzy. LOL @ me thinking that something with DBSK on it could be anything less than pretty. :3 Comments (1) |
