I skimmed through the first two episodes of the Nodame Cantabile anime. When comparing it to the live-action series, what surprises me most is how much more silly the live-action version is; the slapstick and facial expressions are much more pronounced and exaggerated in the live-action. I was also surprised at how much more attractive Saiko is in the live-action, when it's normally the other way around. Compare:

And they skipped over one of my favorite Saiko-related scenes: when Saiko blatantly rejects Chiaki in favor of the "hammy" conductor who's studying abroad.

I also started watching the 2nd season of live-action Hana Yori Dango. I had almost forgotten how addicting that series is! In comparison to the first season, it seems that they've really stepped up the production values. There are a lot more extravagant clothes, extravagant jewelry, extravagant parties, extravagant hotel rooms, etc. It's all quite nice to look at. :D
