   Llama llama
For some reason, I always feel compelled to post here whenever I'm leaving to go somewhere. :P

I'm off to Maine at some point today, to be staying at my grandmother's cottage until....probably Tuesday. Maybe Monday night; somewhere around then. It's our family reunion this Saturday, the one day a year I get to see my dad's cousins and their kids, who I still don't really know after all these years.

*shrug* Maine's a nice place to be, regardless of uncomfortable instances with distant relatives. :)

It's very, very relaxing. Very quiet, generally breezy on the lake (the cottage is on a lake, actually; Crystal Lake) and just....nice. I'd consider it pretty much the perfect atmosphere for reading. I get quite a lot of reading done when I go up there, partly because of the atmosphere, and partly because we don't do all that much up there. :P

There's no TV, a computer was only recently added as a means for my grandmother to send e-mail, but it's not generally open to everyone else's usage. The idea is to get AWAY from technology, see. So, yeah. It ought to be fun, as it always is.

Ummmm.....yeah. It's a shame, though, that we have to leave TODAY of all days. Today marks two months since I asked Carolyn out, and I had hoped to do something nice together. Alas...

We're supposed to leave sometime in the afternoon today, and it's 1:03. And I'm not packed yet. Soooo.....I'm kind of wondering when we'll be leaving, and if anyone else is packed yet. Hm. I guess I shall have to investigate this.

OH! Something else I just thought of! In addition to our going to Maine, Victoria and her friend Melina are going up as well this very weekend. I don't know how close they'll be to where we are, but I'd really like to try and coordinate something while we're all up there.

And not only is VICTORIA coming up, but my friends the Evolas are coming up as well. ^_^ Joe was in my class at Saint Bernard's, and Suzanne was in the class behind me. Suzanne and I also went to prom together, which was fun. ^_^

Now, I KNOW where they're staying, but I have NO idea where that place is in relation to where we'll be staying. I must needs look into this, methinks. :D

Alrighty then. I'm off to pack. But I'll not leave you empty-handed! If I can remember enough of my HTML knowledge, I can leave you a charming picture of myself before I'm off. :P

That's me, taken on July 6 at a family party. ^_^

Cardcaptors of the Clow, Expect the Unexpected Now!
Cardcaptors of the clow, expect the unexpected now!

I followed a link from a friend's site onto vsocial.com, and I've since watched just about every Naruto-related movie clip I have come across, including full episodes.

Let me say, I'm officially a fan. ^_^

I love how each and every character has their own unique abilities, even if they're from the same background. Gaara uses sand, Kiba uses Akamaru and beast jutsu, Lee is all speed and hand-to-hand combat.

And, I mean, they're all ninjas!

Or ninjas in training, at least. :P

I was just thinking about how this series could possibly solve the Ninjas vs. Pirate debate, but then I thought of One Piece. That's another anime series I like because of the varying characters. You have Senji and his singularly kick-based fighting, Luffy with his Gum Gum abilities, and Zoro with his Three Sword Style!

Mmmmmmmmm........anime...... O-O
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This sudden burst of interest in anime stems from the school library's recent acquisition of two Shonen-Jumps. I picked them up one day during my Off period, read them, and....yeah. I was hooked.
One of the issues had the battle between Lee and Gaara in the third round of the exams. *shivers* That was such an awesome fight. :P
Gaara is my favorite character, hands down. I have great admiration for Naruto and Sasuke, for being purely awesome, but Gaara is the character that I identify with the most.
(I have a tendency to identify with quiet, creepy, troubled individuals in anime.....hmmm....>_>)
I also found a few other clips on the site, too. *points at Subject of post* I always liked that rhyme from the Cardcaptors theme song. The show was....all right. Not great, but not bad. It was an okay cartoon to watch on Saturday mornings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, that's been my life this weekend, basically. :P

Mimmi: "But what else is new in your life? Do you have Christina on your arm yet? :3"

Well, I've made honor roll for the first three quarters this year (Straight A's the first two quarters, and A's and a B third quarter) and I got my second Student of the Month award. I was Student of the Month last year for the Theology department, and this year I was chosen by the English department as their Student of the Month. I'm the first, and so far the only student to have been chosen as Student of the Month twice since our school started giving out the award.

I know. I'm awesome. I'll try not to let it go to my head. ;p

College Info

Yale turned me down, unfortunately. I visited the campus and absolutely loved it a week or so before the decision came through. I never realized how much I enjoyed classical archietecture and marble until I visited the place. :P

Their rejection letter was very well written. I didn't feel so bad.

I've been accepted to Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, and Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Assumption has offered me a $13,000 a year merit-based scholarship and invited me to apply for their Honors Program.

I'm not really sure which I want to go to. >.>;;

I'll need to decide soon, however. *stress*

.....it's 2:30AM. I need sleep.

No rest for teh r0xx0rz
Mehfelgeddebegaatuflek.

I hate having things on my mind. Well...stressful things. I hate having stressful things on my mind. Pleasant things aren't so hard on my mind. Which is natural, I guess. Or something. I'm confused. No I'm not. I'm just randombling. Don't mind me. ^_^

Soooooo......tomorrow. My Off period drops out of the schedule until Thursday. Which means, unfortunately, that I don't have a free period to do anything tomorrow. No 42 minutes to do any homework I might not have gotten to tonight. Like that English, or that Networking, or...studying for my English exam essays that I have to make up tomorrow after school. Or preparing for my Environmental Science presenation. Nope, no time for any of it.

Tomorrow's projected forecast: Busy with a pessimistic view of suck.

I know everything will turn out all right, but right now I'm in a pessimistic mood and I feel like making everything seem worse than it really is. So bear with me, please. Things will be better tomorrow.

First of all, I have AP English. I'm not sure what exactly we're going to be doing tomorrow....Mr. Smith gave us assignments for Friday and Monday, but I don't think he said anything about tomorrow. So, should be interesting. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Honors Calculus is after that. Math. Hurrah! A dull class, but not a bad one. Merely a means to fill the time. Mr. Williams (current math teacher) is infinitely better than Mr. Pukstas (previous math teacher).

Latin I follows Honors Calculus. I don't know what we'll be doing in this class, but then again, I never really know. I still managed to get 100s on both first and second quarter and my midterm exam, though. It's an easy class for me, but the teacher (Ms. Crosby) is an absolute nutcase. It'll be stressful just to bear her presence.

Environmental Science. I have to give a Powerpoint presentation tomorrow in front of my class with my two partners, Kimmi and Courtney. I managed to talk my way out of it today, after skillfully dodging it before midterms. See, the project was done in lieue of a midterm exam, only, we didn't have enough time to present everything before midterms. I arranged it so mine was one of the groups who was not able to present, so Mrs. Garstka was forced to grade us based on the Powerpoint alone (or video, if a group chose to do a video instead). I had thought I was all in the clear.

But nooooooooooooooooo. To be fair, Mrs. Garstka is making all of those groups present who were not able to present before midterms. She called on my group today, and I told her we weren't prepared to present today, because we didn't know we'd be presenting. That was only partly a lie. :P Kimmi and Courtney could care less when we present, and I didn't really need any more information than I'd be reading off of the slides. Just the sudden shock of learning I had to present made me uncomfortable enough to make arrangements to present tomorrow.

Ergh. Public speaking. I don't mind it so much anymore, but I'm still filled with dread as I approach it.

LUNCH!

During lunch tomorrow I have to run down to Guidance and tell them what colleges I need my information (transcript, recommendations, etc.) sent to. Also, I need to find out if the special Yale forms I gave them have been filled out. -_-; Also, our principal wanted to write a personal recommendation for anyone who was applying to Ivy League schools, so hopefully he can get that done relatively soon, too. I'll need to get food and get all that junk done in....22 minutes. Yikes.

Networking follows lunch, and I'm thinking I might miss some of the period by still being in Guidance trying to establish that I will indeed have a future somewhere. I'm supposed to read all of chapter 4 in the book tonight, which.....probably isn't going to happen at this rate. (It's 11:34 right now) Mr. Baginski dropped a not-so-subtle hint, though, that we may be having a quiz tomorrow on said chapter. Fantas-matic.....

Theology comes after Networking. This class, again, is a JOKE. I just....ergh...it almost frustrates me to be a party to such a useless gathering of students. Not that the students are useless (well, some are) but there's no point to the class besides taking up time and giving us a Theology credit. Irksome.

AP PSYCHOLOGY! Tomorrow will be my first day in the class. It's actually a full-year class, but I had Creative Writing in the same period first semester, so I couldn't take it all year. Also, I'd taken CP Psych last year, and apparently the administration doesn't allow for students to take both for credit.

So, in a sense, I'm auditing the course. I'll be sitting in on classes and doing the work and such, but it won't count for anything except as a gauge of my...umm....attentiveness? The administration doesn't want me to just be having another Off, basically.

The idea or purpose behind me taking the class in the first place is so that I can hopefully be prepared to take the AP Test in May. If I get a high enough grade on the AP Test, it can count for college credit. Combined with the AP Tests I've taken so far, and the English one I'll take this year, I could have up to four college classes already completed. w00t w00t.

That, and I really liked Psychology last year with Mrs. Bednarz. It was a ton of fun, and I liked the subject. ^_^

As yet another factor for me wanting to join the class, a fair number of my friends are in it. It's a "smart" course, so most of the people I've had classes with the past three years are in it. It'll be a nice relief from all of the CP courses I'm taking this year with the common rabble of my class.

So. That ought to be fun.

After school I have to take the essays from my English midterm. I wasn't allowed to take them on the day of my midterm because at that point my tuition wasn't paid. Some weird school policy, or something. My parents made arrangements for payment, I guess, so I'm taking the essays tomorrow after school. Wish me luck. And sense. And stuff.

I'm tired.

But, before I go.....!

Annie is a classy dame. ~_^

   Go, Go, Hero Patrol!
All can thank the delightful Miss Annsie for my latest return to the Otaku community. ^_^

I was perusing MyOs, and I came across her plug for Hero Patrol in the Community Events section of OB. I checked it out, and wrote up a sign-up for it. Shy has such great ideas. ^___^

Shortly after I'd signed up, I received an IM from Annie! Such joy and rapture there was being had by me! =D She had seen my sign-up, and loved my character. So, we chatted for a while, and it was cool.

AND THEN FLAMING BOARS FELL FROM THE SKY AND DEVOURED THE EARTH!

Just checking to see if I still remember HTML tags. :P

Anywho, I've once again been lassoed into the Otaku community. Hopefully I'll be able to stick around and....like....not disappear. =p

So, what's up in the life of Ben? It's exam week! :D

Creative Writing: We didn't have an exam for this class; our teacher didn't really see a means or a purpose. Instead we had to hand in a 5+ page memoir or short story. I opted for the short story. I toyed with a neat little brain-in-a-jar idea. Didn't turn out too well, being written at the last minute. We'll see how that goes. >_>

Additionally, we had to keep journals all this quarter. First quarter I'd done a good job of journalling. Second quarter was abysmal I did maybe three out of the 30+ required, and then lost the journal. -_-;; I need to either find and turn in what little I have, or make other arrangements with Ms. Pam.

AP Psychology: Long story short, I'm auditing half a year of this course. If I manage to catch up on the first semester and learn the second semester, I'll be primed for the AP exam in May, and hopefully the recipient of college credit. =)

So, as a sort of status check, I took the midterm. I'd had regular CP Psych last year, and I copied a friend's entire notebook from first quarter. Only....I tried learning it all again basically the night before the exam.

I got a 63. o.<

But....! I still managed to score higher than some of my classmates who'd actually been in the class learning the entire semester. Go me. :P

I recognized all of the people and names of the stuff I didn't remember, so it's not as if I totally bombed the test. I'm just a victim.....of....of....incomplete learning. ;_;

AP English: I wasn't allowed to do the essay questions because my tuition isn't paid up. So....an hour and a half to do the critical reading section....BOOYAH! :P Have to make-up the essays as soon as my parents pay the bill. Extra time to study....yay!

Honors Calculus: Don't let the "Honors" fool you. It's for those not smart enough for AP Cal, but who have completed the other math courses. I'm in it by choice. :P The exam was fairly easy. Time-consuming, but not difficult. If it weren't for the fact that I always make some minor mistakes, I'd say I aced it. So I'll just say I think I did well.

Latin I: Yay! A whole community of people I can explain my Latin situation to! :D

My Latin grades for first and second quarter were both 100. If I had not taken the exam, and been given a 0 on it, I would have still had a semester average of 80. Say I took it and failed, but not completely. A 50. If I got a 50 on the exam, I'd have a 90 semester average. As it was, I took the exam today and rocked it. I think I had two half-blank answers because I didn't know what certain words translated into. It was....ridiculous.

Environmental Science: The class decided that we'd do a project instead of our exam. And I mean that. Mrs. Garstka had just told us about the project, and then proceeded to prepare us for our exam. Someone in the class piped up: "Hey, let's do that instead of an exam. It was voted upon, and promptly it was so. Mrs. Garstka loves me, and my presentation wasn't all that bad. We'll see.

Networking: Tomorrow I have my Networking exam. I have a study guide and a huge stack of blank notecards to use. I'll be set.....just as soon as I start using them. :P

Theology: This exam is going to be an insult to my intelligence. She gave us the answers to the questions in class last week saying: "These are the answers to the questions on your exam." She didn't list them or anything, but she gave us every shred of information we'd need for the exam and had us write it all down.

Gah. I miss Theology with Mr. Leone. At least then we were learning things. Theology this year has been one long kindergarten art project. Making inspirational cards for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Christmas cards for one another and for our soldiers overseas. Wonderful intentions, really.

But crayons? Markers? Big sheets of construction paper? We're 17-18 years old! It's easy to the point where I'm getting anxious over the exam tomorrow because I know I'll do great on it! That is not normal anxiety! That's just weird!

*pant* *pant*

.....

Uhhhhh......I think I'll just go and study now.....

Toodles. ^-^

   Happy New Years!
I was on my way home from a party this morning.

I wound up dive-rolling out of a moving vehicle to throw up in the snow on the side of the road.

Throwing up really isn't fun, but man.....

That dive-roll was AWESOME! :D

My grandpa got a litttttttle freaked out when I sort of....fell out of the van before he'd stopped it. As soon as I was done coughing up my toenails, though, I assured him I was all right.

So....how was everyone else's Newy Year's? :P
