Ahhhh....Saturday....
Saturday, oh Saturday, I hath missed thee. :D
Today has been good so far. Before I talk about yesterday, I'm going to talk about today. You know, chronological order. Today so far pretty much falls into the domain of Yu-Gi-Oh Update, through and through.
Ben's Yu-Gi-Oh Report
I got up this morning a little before 8:00. I had thought that the Duelist League thing started at 8:30, and I wanted to be ready. I got dressed, got my stuff together, and then went online to occupy myself until the time came to leave. Neither my sister nor my mom were up, and both were going.
As it turns out, it's a good thing I did. While I was surfing around, I decided to get some information on the League. It actually started at 9:30. :p So, I hung out until about 9:00, before getting my mom up to take my sister and I.
It tooker my mom a long time to solidify plans with my dada, and then she had to get herself ready to go. We didn't get to Toys R Us until 10:00. -_-;; A bunch of kids were already there, trading and dueling. It wasn't an organized tournament like they have at other places; just a place to come and trade and play. I walked around a little bit (there were only two or three tables lined up for our use) checking out cards and watching people duel. As I was looking through the stack of a boy about 8 years old, my friend Mark showed up.
Mark was recently expelled from St. Bernard's, and we used to duel at lunch. Remember? If you don't, search the archives of my Otaku Life. He's mentioned there somewhere.
Anyways, I dueled Mark twice. I beat him both times, although the second time was pretty close. I wasn't getting a lot of monsters, and he had a ton. He managed to get me down from 8000 to 2100 before I finally beat him.
Then I went and talked to a kid, I think his name was Andy. He had a small binder of Ultra and Super Rare cards, and a large binder of regular Rares. He wanted my Don Zaloog, and he let me take 9 cards for it. o.o I didn't use Don Zaloog all that much before, and I had recently been kept it out of my decks. I got several Rare cards that I had wanted for a while.
Cards I got from the first trade:
Butterfly Dagger - Elma: This card has enormous potential to be used for one-turn victories. I had been wanting it for quite a while....
Nimble Momonga: I have two of these already, but they work best with three.
Spirit Reaper: An annoying little card that is very difficult to destroy. Matt used it against me on Friday. -_-
Archfiend Soldier: A powerful, easy to play monster. I like it.
Book of Moon: Makes my opponent's monsters easier to destroy, in most cases.
Spirit Messages: "I", "N", "A", and "L":All I need is Spirit Message F, and then I will possess an instant-win combo. ^_____^
Second trade: My Goblin Attack Force for another set of Rares.
I have three Giant Orcs, which are just about as good as Goblin Attack Force, so it wasn't that bad of a loss.
Cards I got from the second trade:
Coffin Seller: Whenever my opponent's monsters are destroyed, he takes damage.
Pyramid Turtle: A neat little card that helps get Zombies onto the field. It could prove useful.
Hyabusa Knight: This card can attack twice in the same turn. It's not very strong, but if it's powered up, the two attacks can be devastating. I got two copies of this card.
I could have taken more, but I felt guilty. :p
Then I dueled 2 on 2. Me and Andy versus two random kids. They weren't very good, heh. Andy and I had control of the duel at the start. I helped us stay in the game while he drew the five pieces of Exodia, instantly winning the duel for us. The poor kids never stood a chance. Heh heh heh...
I can't wait until next weekend. :D
FRIDAY
I don't remember much of the school day, not that it really matters. I dueled and beat Matt twice at lunch. My Direct Damage slipped right through his monsters and wiped out his LifePoints. Yay!
After school, I took the bus to Sacred Heart. They had a half day of school, as they do every first Friday of the month. Christina, Tyler, Tyler, Paul, Anthony, and Victoria were all there playing cards. So, I *grimace* "hung out" with them for a while.
Later, we went outside and played soccer. I am still better than them somehow, despite the infrequency that I play. They play everyday at recess, I play occasionally when I visit Sacred Heart. And I'm not even in shape. o.O
Well, not as good a shape as I could be. Round is so unflattering. XD
After daycare, I went to work with my dad at the Fish Dinner. The Fish Dinners are put on by the F.A.I.T.H. program at Sacred Heart. The F.A.I.T.H. program help special needs children in the school, by providing them with aids and a few specialized lessons outside of the normal classroom.
My younger brother, Michael, is one of the children F.A.I.T.H. benefits.
So I worked there from about 4:45 to 8-ish. I went home and got to working on my deck and assembling my rarer cards for trading. It was a rather uneventful day.
I may be babysitting tonight for four children. While this is not a walk in the park, I know the four kids and they know me. It should work out, provided that their parents need me. Getting them to bed is the hardest part, but as soon as that is done, it's smooth sailing. :D
I'm very much in need of money at the moment. >_< I owe my parents a little over $200 for my laptop and ski trip payment. I have no steady income yet, so I need to take these odds jobs when they arrive.
I'm babysitting tomorrow night too, for the St. Louises. That should be fun. ^_^ Their son, Tyler, has Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Whenever I go over, we play cards while his brother and sister watch us or TV. I may get some cards from him tomorrow, too. :D
I have a ton of work to do this weekend, unfortunately. I have two essay questions for History, an Act to read in English, and a bunch of Confirmation questions, all due on Monday. The Confirmation questions are due in order for me to be confirmed, which is ridiculous. But, I've come too far to stop caring now. I am to be confirmed on April 13th. And it will happen, gosh darnit. :p
-_- I feel like my weekend is already over.
There's an old Chinese saying,
"If you lose a needle in the grass,..."
"...look for it in the grass."
