Sometimes you feel like punching someone
Despite the title of my journal I am rather settled now.
I got a rejection letter from Target, but I was able to get my
information into Kelly Business. Since I have worked for CTB Kelly McGraw in the past I am in their database, but
it's all good ! Whatever happens, I will get work.
I am going to try for Dollar General and other businesses.
I had to talk to someone who was very personable and quite nice, but she was *so* closeminded. I told her where I was from and she said,
"Do people still burn crosses outside their homes ?"
I thought, "Lady, oh no you didn't !"
I told her what good our community does and that in every community you have racists and that the KKK *did NOT* start in my hometown. It was begun in Alabama and there is a base in Kokomo, but please...we don't do that sort of thing in my hometown. Sure, we've had marches go through downtown (this happened only once). But
not *all* of us are racists, or belong to the KKK ! We do have racists and good ol' boys but we have a marvelous community and it is a good place to live. I told her sometimes you have to go outside your comfort zone and see exactly what it is like. I went to Kokomo when I was scared but it wasn't a bad place at all ! It's really beautiful. But anyway, I got on my soap box and told her how my hometown *REALLY* is. There are magnificent people, it's a terrific place to live and the people there are like one big family. We have Hispanics and blacks too, shocker ! And we have a black choral director, his name is Carl Dupont. :)
