In english today we were brainstorming topics that we could write our agargumenitive speeches on. Two people will get a topic and one will argue for it and one against it. Things like abortion, stem cell reasurch, poligamie (I'd hate to have to argue that one), ect. came up. Well of course gay marriage came up because well honestly whenever current events, the goverment, the president, equal rights, ect., ect. comes up in school someone mentions gay mariage. Ms. Zappone, my teacher, said "Well where always discussing gay marriage what about gay adoption." Personaly I think that if a gay couple whants to adopt good for them and I hope it will make their and a kids life better. There was a group of 6 boys though sitting together that when they heard this imeaditalty start aposulutly not and that poor kid. So, Ms. Zappone asked them if it was better to have gay parents or to be in a foster home. One of the guys said something about maybe there real parents shouldn't put them in there in the first place. I'm sitting here thinking umm...I don't think kids in foster homes whant to be there and wouldn't prefeir to have a family family but I don't think its there choice. So for somereason one of them mentioned beating up and another says "Yeah, imagen the poor kid whos dad is beating up his other dad." So of course Ms. Zappone asks "Is that better then his dad beating up his mom" The kid is silent for a moment then says "Its...(pause)...more natural." Half the class who was semi sleeping (me included)sat up while ms. zappone in a voice about five octavies higher then normal goes "What?" Though later we had moved on to the subject of child labor (hate to argue for that one) and ms. Zappone asks if we think its alright for kids to work in sweat shops for five cents a day and the same guy goes "Its better then they make now." Besides that we also brainstormed I think its title nine. The one that gives girls and guys equal rights when it comes to sports. Witch got all the guys on sports teems going of on how the girls got new uniforms and theres were old, how the girls practiced on the better feild ect ect. And all the girls whent of on how their uniforms weren't knew they were actualy old, the guys didn't take care of the feild they practiced on, and they couldn't go near it during practice without being yelled at ect. ect. So then the guys said something about cheirleading not being a sport and that they should get rid of it and that feild hockey was gay and no one would ever play it (the main sports girl complaining was a chearleader and played feild hockey) Sounds like the grass is greener on the other side.
