Greetings All! Gosh, it's been almost two months since I last posted. WOW! It's amazing how time flies isn't it? The last two months really have been quite full and busy. There was finals week which really kicked me in the butt and got me all stressed out. Then I spent a week back in Dallas and basically hung out with friends all week. The trip from Dallas to Tennessee was fun. My mom hated it, but I had a blast. ^_^ And then I started my new job this week. That's a quick rundown about all that happened. Now, to go more in-depth.
Finals
As I said, it was stressful. I had a final every day of the entire week. But, they weren't all that difficult. For example, my graphic design course had a project for the final. It was an easy project too. So, that took no time whatsoever. My evangelical theology class we very similar. It was an actual test, but it wasn't a hard test by any means. I passed it with flying colors I'm sure.
The real kickers of the week were my philosophy class and my typography class. Philosophy didn't seem to be all that hard of a test. If we had read the material and studied well we would of course do well. He also gave us a study guide to fill out. That helped. The worst part of the test was that it was a take-home test. I had never had a take-home test before. It really threw my morals for a loop. It shouldn't have, but it did. I was more than tempted to just take the test while looking at my notes and my study guide. And when I say more than tempted, I mean that if the test had been much harder than it was I probably would have looked. How horrible am I? *sigh* But, I stood my ground. I took the test honorably. I studied well, sat down, and took it. Yay for minor moral victories!
My typography class was a completely different story. It was the other class in which I had a project for a final. The project was to go into the cemetery which is across the street from campus and take pictures of individual letters on gravestones and then to use those letters to create your own font. It was a fun assignment, but it was also the most stressful one of the week. My entire grade hung upon me doing well on that final. If I hadn't done well, I would not have passed. The entire project was probably about ten hours of work. I was out in the cemetery taking pictures for probably about 2 hours. It then took about 8 hours form start to finish to go through and vector each of the letters and make them look nice. It was good practice with the pen tool in Illustrator. Heh heh! There was one complication though: file size. I, without thinking, just imported all 26 pictures into one Illustrator file and began vectoring them. Well, each picture was massive. I managed to create a 5 Gb illustrator file. This majorly slowed down my system. And at one point it crashed and managed to revert a couple of my saves. I lost about 2 hours of work. I recovered though, with the help of my wonderful friend Joe who helped me discover the source of my troubles. I ended up doing very well on the assignment and was pleased with my work. The picture with this section is the font I created, if you were wondering. All in all I managed to come out of the semester with something like a 2.8. This puts my GPA at a whopping 3.0 cumulative. This needs to be fixed. It's too low. Hopefully I'll do better next semester. In fact, I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't do well. My classes next semester are all art classes with the exception of one. I should do well. Wish me luck!
Dallas
Dallas used to be home. It's not anymore. So, it was a bit awkward being there for a full week. I got to hang out with all of my friends, go to all my usual hang outs, do the things I used to be able to do, but I didn't have a home to go back to. Everything I owned was in the back of my car for the entire week. If I had wanted I could have lived straight out of my car. I didn't, but I could've. Instead I spent the week with my grandfather. I saw a few movies, went to the Dallas Go Club, travelled around to various Half Price Bookstores, ate out, went to parties, and overall just had a blast all week. I enjoyed myself. Yay! The perfect way to end a tough semester. Yup.
Tennessee Trek
It took a full day of driving for me to get from Dallas to my parents' new home in Tennessee. Yeah, it was a long drive, but it was a fun one. I got to see areas of the country that I had never really seen before. Louisiana, MIssissippi, Alabama, and Georgia are all beautiful states. I also had the company of my mom and sister on the road. Granted, we were all in separate cars (each loaded to the brim with stuff), but it was still fun. We had walkie-talkie's that we used to converse and we had a few stops along the way. But, the thing that made the drive the best was my music. I love my music and I like to sing along with it. I rationed my music throughout the day with the more upbeat and peppy stuff for the beginning of the day, the more eclectic stuff for the middle of the day (the kind of stuff i can easily sing along with), and I left my very favorite music to the very end of the day so I would have some good motivation to continue diving. I had had a bottle of Guinness beer sitting in my car which was left over from a party I went to a night or two before. And, when my energy and peppiness shot through the roof after dinner due to the fact that that was the point at which i started playing my favorite music, my mom thought I might have opened the bottle and gotten a bit tipsy. HAHA! I hadn't (I saved the bottle for Lost on wednesday night), but I can see how she might have thought that. I was really happy. heh heh! Music affects me that way. I don't know why. Good music can lift my spirits like nothing else can. Anyway, we made it through the trip with no major problems. We were all very tired by the end of it, but that was to be expected.
Anyway, I have more to post on, but for now I'll leave it at that. This is a long enough post as it is. In a few days I'll be posting more, hopefully. ^_^ I'll also be coming around to all of your sites within the next couple days. So, I'll see you all 'round TheO! Have a great day!

Greeting All! It is I, the man from the abyss. I have returned to the light and have made myself known, yet again, in this wonderful place known as TheO. Please, hold your gasping 'til later in this post, for it just gets better from here on. Great quantities of wonderful post material await your eyes. My life has been abuzz with happenings and goings on since last I posted. I can gleefully say that I have had a good life in this past month. Things have been on the up and up and it has made me one happy individual. I can't really express how good it was in just a few sentences, so lets get on with the post!
Spring Break
My last post was just a few days before my spring break. I went into the break feeling rather down with things in general. I have to say that the break is probably one reason my outlook on life has done such a 180. It was simply a good week. No other way to describe it. I enjoyed being with my family in our new home in Tennessee. A very nice place my parents have there. I couldn't have asked for a better place to live. The country there is beautiful, the weather is nice (for early spring), and the city is a wonderful place. Overall, on a scale of one to ten, I give Chattanooga an eight. It's downsides are the fact that it doesn't have an art house theatre and that it doesn't have a high quality anime store.
I spent most of the week touring the city and it's area. That was entertaining. I really do appreciate the city itself more than I thought I would. I was expecting something like the area I am in now: small town America. But, Chattanooga didn't feel like a small town. Although small, it has a big city attitude. It's like our dachshund, she might be small, but she thinks she could take on a rottweiler. In the time that we weren't touring the area, I was searching for jobs. There were a few places that I found acceptable. I applied at probably 8 different places. There is one really promising job at an ice cream store that I think I might get. So, lets hope something comes from my efforts.
Typo
My typography class has been an interesting class so far. We've had some challenging assignments and the overall subject matter of the course has been a real inspiration. The professor announced about a month ago or so that we would be putting all our work in a gallery show to be shown off to the whole school. I didn't have much of a problem with it until I heard how he was going to do this. Only certain students' works would be put in the actual gallery. And I'm not talking individual works, i'm talking about their works as a whole. So, he only put stuff in there that was overall the best, not necessarily certain pieces which stood out. This frustrated me quite a bit. This class has been a learning experience for me and not all of my work is of show quality. In fact, I'd only say one, maybe two, of my pieces would be worthy of a show, the rest of them aren't that good. So, as expected, my works weren't put in, because the overall quality of the pieces weren't as good as some other peoples. Bah! That's what I have to say to my prof. The one or two of my pieces would have knocked the socks off some of that stuff that was actually displayed. He has bad taste. I was screwed over.
A Friendly Visit
This past visit I was given a special treat: my friend David from down in Texas came up to visit me! How cool is that!? I was so excited to hear that he was planning on coming. Granted, he hasn't been the most reliable with that kind of stuff, so I was more thinking "I'll have to see it to believe it." But, he proved himself true to his word and did actually make the half-day drive up here. I was impressed and was more than excited to see him. We had a blast too! We hung out, and basically enjoyed each other's company all weekend, but that's not the most interesting part. While here he met my friend Jessie while eating lunch on Friday. We all talked for about an hour or so and at the end of it David asked Jessie if she'd like to go out with us that evening. To my surprise and shock she said yes. While at dinner that evening David expressed to me that he liked Jessie. I thought it was just an attraction, but it ended up being more than that. By the end of the weekend he and her were in an official dating relationship. Talk about quick. Now I am being blamed for putting the two of them together. I'm not sure if I like that. But hey, at least I know David enjoyed his weekend. ^_^ Way to go you lady-charmer you!
I Have-nevik!
Last Tuesday was a day I've been looking forward to for quite some time. Kate Havnevik's debut CD entitled Melankton was finally released in the US. Now, when I say I've been looking forward to this for quite some time, I don't mean just a few months. I'm talking almost a year. This CD has been on my buy list for that long. Her album has been on iTunes and has been released in Europe for about 6 months or so now. Also, 7 of her songs have been showcased on ABC's Grey's Anatomy. She'd already made a name for herself, and yet her CD wasn't here. I was more than a little irritated. So, when her CD was finally released I went out to buy it as soon as I could. Let me tell you, this CD was worth the wait. It is even better than I had thought it would be! I am absolutely enamored by this woman's talent. She blows my socks off. So, in commemoration of this wonderful day I've added a few of her songs to an iMeem playlist. Please listen to at least a couple of her songs, and if you like them, support this burgeoning artist by buying her CD. It's only $12.99 for Pete's sake! You can afford that, can't you? Heh heh! Enjoy! With That I'll bid you all a fond farewell. I don't know when I'll be back on. I'll be sure to make it around to everybody's sites at least once in the next 24 hours to say hey. Have a great day and I'll see ya 'round TheO! Sayonara!

I have a high state of resentment for the conformity in this country.

- Bill Maher
Greetings All! How're you doing? I hope you're all doing much better than I am. As much as I want to say my life has been all hunky dory these past couple weeks while I haven't been posting, I can't. There's been a lot on my mind recently and I've been feeling depressed. But really there's no real reason why my life shouldn't be happy. My classes are going as well as can be hoped, I have good friends, I'm spending time enjoying myself outside of class, but I still feel depressed. I still get back to my room every night and mope around on the internet. I haven't even felt up to getting on TheO and visiting all of your wonderful sites. It's just been an odd two weeks for me. I really hate to bum y'all out like this, but that's the way things have been. Please pray for me that everything gets better for me and that these issues I'm working through get sorted out. I don't want to continue like this. It's too depressing.
Werkin and Not Werkin
My work has been interesting these past couple of weeks. Scheduling has been as crazy as a monkey in tights. One minute we're scheduled to be calling on Saturday, then we're not, then we're off for a week and a half. It's been weird. But, everything has made it back into the swing of things. We have a steady work schedule now. The only downside to work this pas week has been the fact that Saturday morning I slept through my shift. I woke up at about 1:00 PM when my cell phone rang. It was horrible. I panicked. I don't think I'll be fired for this minor transgression, but I'm not sure. I sent an extremely apologetic email to my boss and I pray it works. Heh heh! The last thing i need right now is to lose my job.
Hairless
Yup, I got my hair cut. Go figure. The crappy stuff had only grown TWO INCHES since Thanksgiving when I last got it cut. Since it doesn't look very good at a medium length, and I didn't wanna live with medium length hair for the next 6 months while the stuff grows, I decided to get it cut. I didn't know what I wanted to do with it, so I just went to a stylist in the mall and said "make it look cool." So, what you see there in that picture is what she did. Yup. I like it. I think it does look cool. But, with the way she cut it it doesn't really look very good without any product, so I have to use this putty-like stuff every morning. Now I remember why I don't like short hair all that much. Working with my hair and making it do what i want it to is like pushing a wet noodle up a staircase. It doesn't cooperate at all. I'm getting better at taming it though. It was taking me about 10 minutes to get the stuff to do what I want it to. Today it only took about 3 - 5. So, yeah. I'm getting better. I still want longer hair though.
Currency Conundrum
Remember that coin I showed you all in that last post? (if you don't remember it, just scroll down) Well, I figured out its origin. Ya see, my dad is a world traveler. For his job he goes all over, especially in east and south Asia. Once he brought me back some little miniature movie poster magnets from Thailand. When I was going though my refrigerator a few days ago looking for something edible I noticed one of the magnets for a Thai movie and realized that the writing on that poster looked very similar to the writing on that coin. As it turns out, it is the same writing. That coin is a 5 baht piece from Thailand. How it made it into my coin roll I have no idea. But, get this, it's actually worth about 25 cents! HAHA! I thought that was hilarious. So, that little mystery is taken care of.
Well, I really have nothing else to say of any real importance. As I said, the last couple weeks have been a bit of a downer for me. Perhaps soon I'll have more on my mind that I feel worth posting about. I hope you all have better days than mine and I'll see ya 'round TheO! (eventually) Sayonara!

It is hard enough to remember my opinions
without also remembering my reasons for them!
- Friedrich Nietzsche
Greetings All! I hope you are all having a wonderful day! Thursday was certainly an interesting day for me. I woke up before my alarm clock! That never happens. It freaked me out too. I panicked. The only times I ever wake up without the overly irritating buzz of my alarm clock in my ear is when I’ve slept through my alarm clock and have missed class. Those are horrible days. Thankfully my panic was for naught and all was well. That just started the day. It got more interesting. After my class at 9:00 AM I had nothing to do! It was wonderful. I had no homework, and nothing really pressing that needed to get done. So, I wasted the day away. That doesn’t happen very often. It felt odd. I’m supposed to be doing something. My mind just knows it. But, when I think through it all I realize that there’s nothing for me to do. Good, yes, but irritating. I’d kinda prefer not to have a day like that again for a while. It was just too much stress. ^_^ Also, due to the abstract nature of the following sub-posts, I couldn’t find any pictures that would work. So, I’m sorry for an imageless post.
Nihil
That’s right, nothing. That’s the way work was this week. I went in on Wednesday night and was surprised to see my name wasn’t on the board of callers. That really wasn’t a problem since Linda, our scheduling coordinator, has been out for the past few days and probably thought that I was supposed to be working Thursday night like I did last week. That wasn’t the last of the surprises though. In his usual manner our director gave us our nightly briefing before calls began. In this particular briefing he informed us that it had been decided to cancel the phone-a-thon for a week. Apparently the calls the last few days had yielded few actual results and we haven’t been making enough money per night to make any profit. By continuing the calls we were actually losing money. So, until next Thursday all calling has been halted. A good thing for me I guess since that does give me this Saturday off. But, again, it’s a bad thing as well because it means (yet again) I’m only going to be making 3.5 hours of pay this week. Grrr… This just needs to stop. I HAVE TO KEEP WORKING! I’m just glad they didn’t cancel it for longer than a week. That’s the best thing about this.
Nietzsche is Dead
I’ve been rather disappointed in one of my classes this year. My philosophy class, which I actually had been looking forward to, has been a real let down. I was expecting to be learning about different philosophers and their ideas, perhaps the history of philosophy and what is trying to be accomplished by it’s incessant pondering, or maybe how the different ideas of philosophy are to help us in our everyday lives. All of this has NOT been covered. All my professor has been doing is describing to us different philosophical worldviews and then disproving them one by one. So far we’ve made it through theism, deism, naturalism, nihilism, and we will be starting existentialism next week. But rather than looking at philosophy, and particularly these worldviews, from an objective perspective he is trying to disprove every worldview to us. We aren’t really learning what each worldview is claiming to be only how it’s claims are not right. Heck, I don’t even know how each of these worldviews spawned. This has been a pathetic excuse for a university level philosophy course. If I don’t do as well as I want to in this course I am definitely going to take it again with a different professor who might actually teach us philosophy instead of promoting his own philosophical standing.
No More Christmas Money
I spent the last of my Christmas money over the weekend. I had been given an Amazon.com gift certificate by my aunt and uncle for the amount of $25 and have been deliberating since Christmas about how to spend it. There were a couple options up in there air. I could purchase Kate Havnevik’s debut CD. She is a Norwegian musician in the style of Imogen Heap who has really impressed the heck out of me. Unfortunately her CD hasn’t really been released here in the U.S. so I would have to buy an import CD which is much more expensive than a normal CD. If I were to buy it, it would use up all of my gift certificate. And, being as cheap as I am, I couldn’t bring myself to spend an entire $25 on just one CD. So, I went with option two; anime! Heh heh! I’ve been wanting to see Haibane Renmei for some time now and have been tempted to buy it at the last couple conventions I went to. So, I decided to purchase it with the Amazon.com money. Yeah, it was a bit more expensive than $25, but I think it will be worth it. I look forward to its arrival later this week.
Linkies!
As you might have noticed up at the top of my site there were a few additions. I decided to finally get with the times and create myself some site buttons. Now, most of you (in fact all of you that I have seen) have made buttons featuring anime characters and your screen name. I have no real problem with this but it leads to confusion since many of you use similar characters. I’ve seen more FFVII buttons than I think I can stand. So, I decided to throw a loop in things and create my buttons with my beautiful mug on ‘em. Heh heh! Some of you (you know who you are) might think that I am being arrogant or “elitist” by doing this. I am NOT! I am simply created my buttons the way I did because I wanted to be different and creative. I wanted to stand apart from the crowd and I thought it would be fun. So, EAT IT! ^_^ I hope you all enjoy my buttons and please do not hesitate to link me on your sites. I will be getting around to all of your sites soon enough to snag your buttons and create a link library of my own. Look forward to it! ^_^
Well, I’ve typed for long enough, so now I’ll be done… kinda. ^_^ Below is posted a couple pictures of a coin that I found in one of my quarter rolls I purchased from Wal-Mart a month ago. I’ve been stumped as to the nationality of the coin. So, if anyone can make out the coin’s markings from those pathetic pictures and thinks they know where it comes from, please let me know. I’d greatly appreciate your assistance.
Now I’m done. Heh heh! I hope you wall have a wonderful day and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

Greetings All! I trust everyone is doing wonderfully. I’ve been pretty good lately. Not a whole lot to say on the state of me other than that. I’ve been a bit sleep deprived. I guess that is something. I slept in ‘til 2 both Saturday and Sunday this week. It was wonderful. It certainly helped me get caught up, that’s for sure. I was only able to sleep that late on Saturday because work go cancelled. For some reason they halted phone-a-thon temporarily. Something about not having anyone to call. It continues as planned this week though. Well, at least it does until next Saturday. Next weekend is parent’s weekend here. Most everyone who works next Saturday has asked off, so they are more than likely canceling next Saturday as well. But, I expected that. I just hope they don't cancel any more days. I need to be working. I have a $1700 computer to pay off now. If they keep cancelling work, I keep not making money. Grrr.... Anyway, enough about that boring stuff and on with the post!
Parental Relocation
This past week my parents moved. They’ve been packing up the house for some time now and on Wednesday the movers came and everything left. They spent their time at my grandfather’s house until Saturday when they hopped in the car and drove the 800 miles from Dallas to their new home in Chattanooga, TN. It was a bit of a bittersweet thing for me. I spent the most important years of my life, my adolescence, in that house in Dallas. It was interesting knowing that I’ll never go back and sleep in my room again. *sigh* But, as I said it was bittersweet, and the sweet part is that now I get to live in and learn about Chattanooga when I go home for breaks and stuff. I look forward to my time there and I am happy for my parents. From what I have seen of the city thus far (and that is very little) it seems like a wonderful place. May God bless their new residence and their new life there. Good luck Y’all! ^_^ Oh! Happy Birthday again, Dad!
The Return of Goodness
Guess what everyone! Everybody’s favorite adolescent ninja has returned! That’s right, Naruto Shippuuden started this past week. Finally, after seasons of filler episodes, they are returning to the storyline from the manga. This past week was a week to be reckoned with. Heh heh! It was an amazingly wonderful episode too! I was worried at the start when they played a segment from a part in the story much further in the future, but that ended (with much suspense) and they returned to the beginning of the middle. ^_^ So, now we get to watch the story progress like it was supposed to. Amazing it is. I never thought I’d see the day. Heh heh! I look forward to many more amazing episodes of Naruto in the future. May their little Japanese heads never conjure up a season or two of filler again or those same heads might just get smashed by crazy American fans. Trust me guys when I say that you DON’T want a mob of crazy anime fans after your head. We're mean when it comes to our obsession. We might be overweight, malnourished, unkempt, and a downright nasty-looking bunch of people, but we pack a punch when needed. ^_^
Caesar’s Oscar Picks
Movies are sort of my thing, if you hadn’t picked up on that by this point. I love them. I watch them every chance I get, I buy them when I have money, and I have become like a free video rental spot for many of my friends. They just come into my room, grab a movie and return it when they’re done. Some might be a bit concerned by this, but I’ve never lost a movie. I keep track of who has what. Currently 6 of my movies are out with people. So, that gives you an idea of how seriously I take Oscar season. The Oscars are like my Super Bowl. I plan for them, I make my picks, if I could bet I would. ^_^ So, the following are my picks for the Oscar winners this year. I hope I do well this year. Most years in the past I pick about half of them right. But, this year I am feeling pretty good about it. I’m more informed this year than in the past since I have seen most of the movies. So, let’s see how it all pans out. Oscar night is coming, and I will be sitting in my wonderful black chair with a bag of Chex Mix and a Dr. Pepper with my EW magazine in one hand and a highlighter in the other. ^_^ Call me obsessive. I hope you all like my picks! (in other words, please don’t hate me if the person/movie you picked does not coincide with mine)

Enjoy!I hope you all have a wonderful day and a wonderful week for that matter. Enjoy your life. Don’t let anything get you down. Sayonara!

Greetings All! I thought I might as well post again, considering it’s been about a week or so. Yup yup. Not a lot to say today unfortunately. Or… is that a good thing? You all are probably getting tired of my long posts. I’m sure they’re hard to read and aren’t all that interesting for you. For that I apologize, but I do thank you for your continued visits despite that fact. On with the post!
Ikkicon
This past weekend I had the most interesting convention experience I’ve ever had. Remember that bad chi I was talking to you all about over the summer? Well, it returned. The universe seemed to not want me to go to the convention. I don’t know why. I wasn’t going to let it stop me, but for all those curious about what the universe hit me with, enjoy: unexpected snowstorm which threatened to cancel my flight but ended up delaying it 3.5 hours, almost running out of gas on an Oklahoma turnpike because the one gas station in a 10 mile radius had frozen lines, I forgot my computer power cable back at the dorm so any homework I had to complete over the weekend had to be put off, and the guy whose apartment I was staying at in Austin informed me (through a friend) that I was no longer welcome and had to find someplace else to stay the night before I'm scheduled to arrive. (jerk...) Thankfully, none of that crap stopped me from making it to Ikkicon and having a good time, but it definitely didn’t help. ^_^ Da Caesar is UNSTOPPABLE!
Once at the convention everything went very smoothly though. It was very fun. There were a few panels I went to including a Q & A with the voice actor guests, iron artist, iron artist 18+, and a Beck dubbing panel (at which the first episode in the 2nd volume was unveiled ^_^). Such fun-ness! I dressed up as Kiba again on Saturday. I didn’t get the same kind of reception I’ve gotten in the past, but it wasn’t a bad one. I had a couple people who seemed to follow me around all day because I saw them A LOT. The most interesting costume-related incident happened when I was out of costume. On Sunday I was just dressed in a black shirt, tan cargo pants, my black Converses, an orange cat hat and matching tail. Nothing too outrageous really. Well, there was actually another woman there dressed EXACTLY THE SAME! I thought it was hilarious! We got a picture taken together. I wish I had had a camera, because that would have been fun. Heh heh! She had everything but the tail. The tail was my own. I sewed it myself! Heh heh! Yeah, her hat was in a bit better condition than mine was, but hers hasn't seen nearly as much use as mine. Mine's been quite tortured.
So, the convention was a blast. I came away with the FLCL Ultimate Edition Box Set , a new bag tag of InuYasha lookin’ cute, a keychain of a little chibi Hikaru from Hikaru no Go, the 5th and 9th volumes of Saiyuki, the 2nd volume of R.O.D, and a set of 8 tarot cards with pictures of Bleach characters on them that were purchased for their aesthetic value only (don’t worry Mom, I’m not going to start using tarot cards. It’s not even a full deck. I DON’T want a phone call about this ^_^). All in all it was a good haul! (yay for rhyming!)
Birthday Smack
I celebrated my 21st birthday on Sunday. The people I was attending Ikkicon with knew this fact. So, I was expecting something to happen that day, I just didn’t know what. A little before lunchtime, around 10:30, I was talking with a couple of the guys that were there with me. For some reason, one of them disappeared for a few minutes. I didn’t notice it at first, but when the guy returned, another guy with a yaoi paddle casually walked behind me. I caught on to what was happening right as the guy swung and nailed me hard in the right butt cheek. Stinging. Yeah… it was entertaining for all involved. Yeah, it hurt a bit, but I have to congratulate my friends on their creativity. Thanks for the birthday smack y’all! ^_^
Hilarious!
We were just goofing around on YouTube before anime club a few weeks ago and one of the girls showed the following commercial to us all. So, in the spirit of Super Bowl week and funny commercials, enjoy!Well, many other things have occurred in the past week, but none of them quite worth mentioning here. So, with that I’ll be done. Ya happy with the shorter post? I hope so, cuz don’t be expecting them to happen too often. ^_^ Have a great day Everybody and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

Greetings All! I have temporarily returned from my two week (or was it three week?) hiatus from TheO. Understand me when I say this was not a voluntary hiatus by any means. It was forced upon me by circumstances beyond my control. I made a note to say that my return is temporary because those circumstances which have hindered my ability to visit TheO and post are showing no signs of dissipating. In fact, they will only worsen in the next few months. It sucks, but it has simply come down to the fact that I have a rather large amount of work to do for classes, and I just don’t have the time to give to posting and visiting sites. I apologize for this, but like I said, I have no control. I am at the mercy of my professors. My time is theirs to control as they see fit with mindless busy work. *sigh* Such is the life of a college student. So, don't be expecting to see me around TheO all that much this semester. I'll post when I can, but no more. I'll try to make it around to y'all's sites as much as possible, but that will be difficult as well. Just... bear with me.
Technologically Handicapped
Two weeks ago we were having an ice storm here in Arkansas. Not a bad ice storm, but an ice storm nonetheless. Ice covered the ground and sidewalks, coated the trees, and hung from power lines and roofs. It was beautiful. Unfortunately, this beauty came with a price. The ice was causing power failures all over the area, my dorm room not excluded. Before one of the power failures the power surged and my poor unprotected computer popped and died. It was a horrible moment; the moment I realized that I was going to have to dish out unknown amounts of money to purchase a new machine. That amount didn’t stay unknown for long. Two days later I realized that the new machine was going to cost roughly $1700. (GAH!) It was a lot of money to pay, but short amount of time I spent without a machine of my own felt like months. I reluctantly paid for it with money I had to borrow from my grandfather and 5 days later I had my new MacBook. It’s by far the nicest machine I’ve ever owned; 2 GHz processor speed, 2 GB of RAM and 120 GB of hard drive space. It’s beautiful. Well worth the wait, but we’ll see if it’s worth the $1700.
Oscars Nom’s and More!
This past week has been a big week for movies. At least it’s been a big week for me. Saturday evening I was invited by one of my friends to go and see Pan’s Labyrinth. I had heard only good things about the movie, but didn’t know much more about it other than what the trailers let onto. But, I certainly couldn’t pass it up. I had to go and see that movie. Thank God I did because it was one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. In fact, in 2007, it is the best movie I’ve seen yet. It was beautifully done. The critics are calling it a "fairy tale for grownups" and that is exactly what it is. The fantastical story, as fantastical as it was, was actually believable. It kept you drawn in the entire time. Amazing it was, yes, amazing. Heck, it better be amazing. After all, it's been nominated for SIX Oscars. I must caution anyone who goes and sees it, there are some very hard parts in the movie to watch. Very hard. They are very graphic about certain things. Mom, you’d be jumping up and down in your seat. But, Mom, I do think you might enjoy this movie. It's very fantastical, but the story is good. You've surprised me in your movie taste before. So, who knows, this might be a movie you hate. But I don't think so. I'd suggest giving the movie a shot.
Pan’s Labyrinth was not the only big thing that happened as far as movies go this past week. The Oscar nominations were announced! ^_^ It was a wonderful thing. And, the most dreaded thing happened this year: all the nominations were good ones! O_O *gasp* This has never happened before. At least, not since I’ve been paying attention to the Oscars. It’s going to be an exceedingly hard thing for me to go and make my picks for who I think will win. Truthfully, I have no idea what the Academy will do. This past year has just been one of the most phenomenal years for movies, I can’t imagine having to pick the best ones. It’s going to be tough. The Best Picture category is going to be the toughest to decide. 5 really good films have been nominated; The Queen, Little Miss Sunshine, The Departed, Babel, and Letters from Iwo Jima. There is not a single one of those films that I would want to see lose. I haven’t yet had the pleasure of seeing The Queen or Letters from Iwo Jima, but I plan on seeing them both. After I see them, I’m sure I’ll be able to more accurately predict what the Academy is going to do. But right now, if I were to pick, I’d think that the Academy would give the award to The Queen. That movie has just received so much recognition and praise recently. Apparently it just blows the socks off everyone. The critics are just mad about the film and I think that is a pretty good predictor as to how the Academy is going to cast their vote. Heck, I might be wrong, but that’s how I think it’s going to play out. I look forward to the Oscars on February 25th. That’s gonna be a fun night. For a full list of the nominees this year, go to http://www.oscars.com/nominees/?pn=list

This coming weekend is going to be a big one for me. On Thursday I get on a plane and fly down to Dallas where I will spend the night before I head down to Austin for Ikkicon. I’m looking forward to this convention. Most of my friends will be going. I’m going to be torn. On one hand I have the group from my school who are traveling down by car. Then, I’ll also have my friends from back home. To hang out with both groups is going to be a hard thing. GAH! I don’t know what to do! But, that’s in the future. I’ll deal with that when I get to it. The more important thing happening this coming weekend is my 21st birthday. ^_^ Yay! I am finally going to be legal! I, unlike most of my peers, have never gone out drinking illegally. The only alcohol I’ve had was in Italy over the summer and then on new years eve the past couple years. I’ve had a couple sips of beer that my dad has let me have, but that really is all the alcohol I’ve ever tasted. I’ve held out. I’ve respected the law of the land and stayed away. Once I become legal, I don’t now how I’m going to take it. I’ll have to play that one by ear. So, this weekend is going to be a fun one. A very fun one.
Well, I don’t feel like saying any more right now. That was a long enough post. ^_^ So, with that I’ll be done. Enjoy the video (Daniel Powter is awesome! ^_^) and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

But often, in the world's most crowded streets,
But often, in the din of strife,
There rises an unspeakable desire
After the knowledge of our buried life:
A thirst to spend our fire and restless force
In tracking out our true, original course;
A longing to inquire
Into the mystery of this heart which beats
So wild, deep within us—to know
Whence our lives come and where they go.
- Matthew Arnold, "The Buried Life"
Greetings All! It’s been a while since I posted last. Don’t worry, this time it’s not my fault. Well, party it’s my fault, but it’s really been situational circumstances that have kept me from posting AND visiting your sites. So, I apologize for my absence.
Noodle Pushing
As some of you know, this week has been the first week of the new semester—new classes, new professors, new schedule, pretty much new everything. This has made for quite a challenging week. I quickly discovered that getting my mind into the swing of the new semester after having had such a relaxing break was like pushing a wet noodle up a hill. It just didn’t want to do it. But, with time, I’m sure I’ll be back to my old studious self. I just worry about the consequences my mental absence may cause. It’s not like I can just check out for the first week of classes and expect to do well for the rest of the semester. The first week is extremely important. It’s the week you learn your professor’s teaching habits, their expectations, and their goals for the class. If you miss that information, it takes a while to get in step with the rest of the class and your grades typically reflect that. So, needless to say (but I feel like saying it anyway ^_^), I have been trying as hard as I can to get my mind back into a studying mood. It’s beginning to cooperate.
Deflabification
I have come to accept a fact about myself: I’m getting flabby. So, with that fact out in the open, I have embarked on a campaign of rigorous workout with the intention of deflabifying myself. Well, it’s not that rigorous, it’s just the most rigorous workout plan I’ve ever tried. 5 times a week I will go to the gym and ride a stationary bike for at least half an hour. It won’t be an easy ride, if I’m not huffing by the end of it, I didn’t do a good job. Then I do a couple machines to work out the upper portion of my body. All in all, the whole thing takes about 45 minutes. Then, I go back to my dorm room and do as many sit-ups as I can stomach (pun alert!). I’ve made it a week now and I plan to keep going. I have heard that it takes about 3 weeks to form a habit of this sort (a workout routine) and so between now and my birthday in a month, I will follow that plan strictly. The goal is ultimately to get rid of excess flab around the stomach and butt areas, and to generally get into better shape. So far it’s working. After only a week of workouts I’m already seeing results. My stomach is not as large as it was at the beginning of the week. It’s not much of a change, but it’s enough of one to give me encouragement. And, I have had more energy as of late. This is a good thing since I haven’t been getting a whole lot of sleep lately. But, that’s my fault ^_^. So, here’s to my deflabification!
Commentary on the State of the War and the Nation
Did any of you catch President Bush’s address to the nation on Wednesday night? I did. I wasn’t too surprised by his plan, but I can’t say that I agree with it. I know the President has been looking for ways to increase support of his war in Iraq, but this latest decision wasn’t the best way to accomplish that. In fact, his decision to send 21,500 more troops to help out in Iraq only worked to lessen his support even more.
I have supported the President throughout most of the war. At the time I believed it was right for us to go into Iraq. I believed it was right for Saddam to be overthrown. I believed it was right for the U.S. to help build a new government in Iraq. But I don’t believe it is right for us to send even more troops over there. In my opinion, which may be seen as naïve I’m sure, the war in Iraq has run its course. We have accomplished virtually nothing we went over there to do. Yes, the overthrow of Saddam was a priority, but the real reasons we went over there were to find these fictitious weapons of mass destruction, which were never found, and to defeat the terrorists that Iraq was supposedly harboring, but we haven’t defeated them. We did diminish their numbers though. Simple fact is, about all we’ve accomplished in Iraq is the overthrow of Saddam and the establishment of a new government. Now it is time to begin leaving.
At this point I see the U.S. as acting like an overprotective parent. We’re so in love with this new government that we’ve given birth to that we don’t want to let it go. We want to try and solve all its problems, fight off the terrorists for it, make it into what we want it to be. But, there is a time in every child’s life that he must leave home and expand his horizons. Independence is important in the growth of a child, and it is equally as important in the growth of a nation. We’ve done everything we can for the young Iraqi government. We need to back off, we need to begin leaving and giving it more control of its own country. Let it start fighting off its own terrorists. Let it establish its own ways of doing democracy. It’ll be better at it than we are. I’m not saying that the U.S. can’t do democracy, I’m just making a cultural statement here. Iraq is the eastern world. Iraqis view things from an eastern mindset, a mindset that western Americans don’t understand. We’re trying to run things the way a western democratic state should be run, but Iraq is not a western democratic state. It has its own problems and difficulties to solve and unless we let the Iraqis solve those problems on their own we will only be hurting them, not helping them.
It’s time for us to start pulling out of Iraq. Let our troops come home!
Belief
In his latest CD, John Mayer plays a song entitled “Belief” which, I think, offers a pretty good explanation for the problems we’re encountering in our war on terror. Please read these lyrics and let me know if you agree. I look forward to your response on this topic.
Is there anyone who ever remembers
Changing their mind from the paint on a sign?
Is there anyone who really recalls
Ever breaking rank at all
For something someone yelled real loud one time?
Oh, everyone believes
In how they think it oughta be
Oh, everyone believes
And they're not going easily
Belief is a beautiful armor
But makes for the heaviest sword
Like punching underwater
You never can hit who you're trying for
Some need the exhibition
And some have to know they tried
It's the chemical weapon
For the war that's raging on inside
Oh, everyone believes
From emptiness to everything
Oh, everyone believes
And no one's going quietly
We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for
We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for
Is there anyone you can remember
Ever surrendering with their life on the line?
We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for
We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for
What puts a hundred thousand children in the sand?
Belief can, belief can
What puts a folded flag inside his mother's hand?
Belief can, belief can
Well, with that I’ll call my post complete. I’m sorry it’s so long, I really am, but it needed to be. I had a lot to say. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I’ll be around later to comment on your sites! See ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
- Oprah Winfrey
Greetings All! I hope you’re all having a good day like I am! My week since Christmas has been exceedingly dull and boring. I’ve done very little worth mentioning actually. I wish I had more to talk about. Grrr… Don’t ya just hate boredom? I do. It is the bane of a college student’s existence on break. It is what we fear the most. It is what drives us to find ways of occupying our time. It is probably the sole reason why most college students work over breaks as short as Christmas and spring break. You can’t make enough money on breaks that short to justify sacrificing your time. People do it because they are so bored that they simply have to in order to keep themselves occupied. Being in a financially stable situation going into the break, I felt no need to put my time to working. It just wasn’t worth it to me. I wanted to use my time for other endeavors such as touching up my Shugo costume, shopping for Christmas gifts, going to movies, and going snowboarding. I have managed to accomplish most of that with the exception of the Shugo costume. I foolishly left all my fabric back at school and thus have no means of touching up the costume. Dangit. But, even with all that, I still find myself sitting at home in the afternoons bored to tears. There have been a few days where I was so bored at home that I got in my car and just drove around. I stopped at a few stores and stuff, but it was mostly just driving around. Yup yup. I’m pathetic. I’m actually looking forward to getting back to school so I can have something to do for a change. Such is the life of a college student I guess.
A Little Walking-Around Money
As I said, I was in a financially stable situation going into the Christmas break. With my job at school, I have been roughly able to stay afloat with no problem. But, after going snowboarding and paying for lift tickets and equipment rental, which put me out about four hundred bucks, I was in a little bit of a bind. Yes, I had more than enough money to use to buy Christmas gifts and live on over the Christmas break, but I no longer had enough to make it through the semester at college. This is where my job over the summer came in handy. At the end of the summer, my boss made a deal with all of us interns that if we made at least a 3.0 average for the semester, that he would pay us one thousand bucks. Well, as you read a couple of posts ago, I managed to come out of the semester with a 3.8. Needless to say, that was more than sufficient to get me the thousand. So, on Thursday I went by the office and watched as my boss handed me one thousand dollars in cash in front of the other interns. Out of the six of us, only two made the thousand. So, it was pretty interesting looking at the others’ faces as I was given my cash. Admittedly, I felt a sense of satisfaction in it. So, with that money and what I got over Christmas I have enough to make it through the semester with no problem at all. ^_^ Yay for good grades and generous bosses!
Ailments
There has been a bug going around. I cought it. It sucked too. I got it right after my snowboarding trip. And, the worst day out of the entire sickness was Christmas day itself. Yeah, talk about a bit of a downer. I spent most of Christmas day itself sitting in one of two recliners at my grandfathers house with a slight fever. I was just beat too. I ended up napping Christmas afternoon for about 3 – 5 hours. I’m not sure how long exactly. It was refreshing too. I woke up and I was feeling a bit better than I had been before and I no longer had a fever. That nap ended up being the turning point of the sickness. Aftter that nap I started getting better. And, it was two days ago that I finally kicked the sickness for good.
It’s not only me that’s been sick though. My entire family seems to have one ailment or another. My dad had his sprained ankle and a broken elbow (also from the fall off the roof) plus some sinus related problems, and my mother has her seasonal allergies. My sister is the worst of us though right now. On the ski trip she fell down and knocked her thumb out of joint really bad. They popped it back into place with no problem, but that wasn’t the worst part. It was the strain that the accident put her tendons and ligaments through. A few were seriously injured. So, she went under general anesthesia yesterday afternoon and they stuck a pin in her. Now she’s all bundled up on the couch, feeling nauseous all the time, and not eating. It sucks to be her right now.
Ring In The New Year With Sound and Light!
Well, not to end the post on a bad note, here is a music video for everyone. My last one of My Chemical Romance's Welcome to the Black Parade got a bit of a mixed response, so lets hope this one goes over a little better. It's of Augustana's Boston, which is a song about new beginnings as we enter into this new year. Enjoy!
Well, with that I’ll consider my post complete. Since I won’t be posting again until 2007, I'd like to go ahead and thank you for this past year’s worth of support. It has been an honor reading your blogs and I have thoroughly enjoyed the comments you have left on mine. Thank you so much for your visits. They really have meant a lot to me. After all, without your visitation, this is just me typing to nobody. ^_^ Have a Happy New Year and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO in ’07! Sayonara!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
- Santa Clause
Greetings All! I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas on this wonderful Monday! Yeah, it's an over-commercialized holiday and yeah I've had a hard time getting into the whole "spirit" of the thing this year, but it'll still be nice to spend some time with my family. I hope you all have equally as enjoyable of a holiday as I am having! Stuff yer guts with food, enjoy your gifts, praise God for the wonderful gift of His Son, and don't drink too much egg nog. ^_^ Also, please stop by the Deviant Art site of ai5u. She is the person I stole that wonderful pic from and then proceeded to mutilate it for my own purposes. Normally I try and ask people on DA for their permission to use their art on here, but I just didn't have that kind of time today. So, do pay her a visit. She's really quite good as you can tell. Merry Christmas, Everyone!
