Trouble En Route...
The saying "Getting there is half the fun" became obsolete with the advent of commercial airlines.
- Henry J. Tillman
Greetings All! I trust you’re all having a wonderful day! WOW! That’s the only word I can describe how today has gone already. It’s been quite a ride.
Trans-Atlantic Turmoil
I know I told you all that I wouldn’t be posting until after my trip, but today has lent itself well to a post, and considering that I’m stuck in London-Gatwick International Airport for the next 6.5 (or so) hours, I have some time to post. I’m actually typing this wonderful little piece from a computer in the British Airways passenger lounge where my family and I have taken up temporary residence. All I have to say is, thank God for complimentary internet service. ^_^
You’re probably wondering what the hell I’m doing sitting in a passenger lounge for half the day. Well, I’ll get to that. The day started pretty smoothly. We got out of the house this morning (is it still Wednesday?) without any snaffoos. We made it to the airport and actually got off the ground with no problem at all. “This is good,” I’m thinking, “This trip might actually go well after all.” Wrong. As we’re landing in Raleigh, NC my dad starts freaking out next to me. He can’t find two of the four passports. We all had to have them to get on the plane in the first place, so on the jetway to the plane we all handed our passports back to my dad who had taken charge of them. He thought had put them all in his black backpack. So, he’s sifting through the backpack as the plane is taxiing to the gate in Raleigh and can only find two of them. Panic is the only word that can describe the state of my parents at this moment. They start sifting through ever bit of carry-on luggage we’ve got, checking on the floor and in pockets, heck, they even asked a flight attendant to make an announcement to the rest of the aircraft so now the entire rest of the aircraft is searching around their feet as well. When the “fasten seatbelt” light goes off my dad shoots up and looks in the overhead bin (the only place we hadn’t looked so far). There they are. The two passports are just sitting by themselves in the bin. Nobody can figure out how they got to be there by themselves. Neither my dad or my mom remember putting them there. A mystery to remain unsolved. The good thing is that we’ve got all our passports.
That was the first flight. The second flight out of Raleigh to London-Gatwick took off 4 hours later, so we had some time to chill. Thankfully my dad is a “Platinum Club” member so he managed to get us into the American Airlines Admiral’s Club for the duration of our layover. Much better than sitting at the gate. I spent the 4 hours sitting in front of the television watching reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Spike (Yay! Star Trek!). We got off the air nicely. I had an entire row of seats to myself on the plane, allowing me to lay down and sleep if I felt like it (which I eventually did). That flight went perfect. It was what happened after that flight that is the real story. Apparently, while we were in the air over the Atlantic, 18-20 men were arrested at one of the two London airports with the intention of blowing up planes travelling from London to the U.S.. Thankfully they were all caught and no planes have had an accident, but this has caused some serious delays in London. It took us 2 hours to make our way from the arrival gate to the departure gate (a trip that should have taken no more than about 15 minutes). I had to check all my carry-on bags as well, leaving me with no book, no crossword puzzle, and no iPod. We had to actually go through customs and legally enter the country and then go back through security to get to the gate. I have to say, that was the quickest visit to any foreign country that I’ve ever taken. It was a total of about 15 minutes long and the only thing we did in the country was purchase a package of tissues. Impressive, eh? ^_^ So, now we are sitting in the British Airways Passenger Lounge awaiting our flight which is currently delayed indefinitely. I’m hoping and praying that all our bags make it to Rome without trouble, and that we make it to Rome without further trouble.
So, with that I’ll bid you all a fond farewell… for now. I won’t say I’m not going to post again, because that could possibly make me a liar (again). I wish you all a wonderful day and I’ll see you ‘round TheO (eventually)!

My Tempory Travel-Related Absense
Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.
- Miriam Beard
Greetings All! I hope you’re all having a great day! I’m certainly having a rather interesting one. Tomorrow my family and I leave on our 10 day trip to Italy and I’ve spent all day getting ready for that and getting ready to go back to college. I have to do both at the same time because less than 24 hours after landing back at home I will be on the road back to school. So, yeah. Interesting day. So, really that’s all I wanted to post on. Since I’m going to be gone I won’t be posting for a while. So, I wish you all a wonderful next two weeks!
Now, nobody commented with an answer to my trivia question. So I guess I really am a loner when it comes to my interest in the Beatles. But, despite that fact, I will still let you know the answer to the question (although all you have to do is go look up the lyrics online). The only day of the week not mentioned in the Beatles’ song “Lady Madonna” is Saturday.
Well, with that I’m going to call this post complete. Yeah, short eh? For those of you returning to school while I’m gone, I wish you all a great start to your school year. I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you when I get back from Europe! Sayonara, or as the Italians say, Ciao!

And I Thought My Life Was Getting Boring... HA!
Organized crime in America takes in over forty billion dollars a year and spends very little on office supplies.
- Woody Allen
Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day! I certainly am. Well, it became good after 5 PM when I got off work. heh heh! Yeah, if you’ve ever seen the movie Office Space and happen to recall the scene with the copy machine and the field, you would know my feelings towards the wonderful piece of technology that I spend my day standing in front of. I swear, the thing has a will. It seems to be bent on making my workday miserable. First the thing won’t take the paper, so we call out the Minolta guy to repair it. The guy comes and replaces the rollers. The guy leaves. I begin using it and now it’s taking too many pieces of paper. I spend 3 hours feeding pages into it one at a time before the Minolta guy comes back and fixes it again, this time with a supervisor. After that the machine behaved, but I’m giving it no more than three days before it starts acting up again. Thankfully, in three days I’ll be gone from this job, and then it’s back, to school with a small detour through Italy on the way. Yeah, that’s right, I said Italy. My family is going to Italy for my sister’s “senior trip.” It should be a fun. So, with that said, on with the rest of the post!
I’ve Been Had!
Yeah, today at about 2PM I got a call from my mom talking about how Visa had contacted me at home about possible credit card fraud. I didn’t think anything of it since this has happened a couple times before. Each time Visa was just being overly cautious. But, while I was on the phone with my mother, my dad calls. Now I’m worried. Then when he told me what’s going on, I got scared. This time it really isn’t Visa being overprotective. Somebody has actually been using my account to buy stuff. Today alone, some F***ING ASSHOLE out in California bought over $1,000 worth of merchandise using my money. Not only that, it’s not just the credit card number that he’s got. He actually made a fake card and imprinted it with my number. He tried to go to Wal-Mart of all places. Well, I shouldn’t really say he tried, because he walked out of the store with the merchandise. Suffice it to say, this problem is being handled. Please keep me (and my checking account) in your prayers. Specifically, please pray that this asshole gets caught and prosecuted.
The Gibson Incident
Mel, Mel, Mel, Mel, Mel. What are you thinking!? Gah! Yeah, I respect you as a person, but you’re screwing things up, dude! Now, if any of you have managed to go the last few days without hearing about what has happened involving Mel Gibson, you must be living under a rock. But, for those gophers out there, I’ll bring you up to speed. A few nights ago, Mel Gibson was pulled over for D.U.I.. This in itself is bad enough, but the atrocities didn’t stop there. Supposedly, as the officers tried to arrest him, the drunk Gibson started yelling anti-Semitic remarks and other obscenities directed towards the Jewish race (a race that one of his arresting officers happens to be a member of). Since then, it’s been headline news. Every station in the country has been covering it. Why, Mel, why?!
After the man made The Passion, he became the most prominent example of Christianity to the rest of America. Any move he made was going to reflect upon the entire Christian community. And, lately he’s really been botching things up. This D.U.I. thing isn’t the first problem. There is also a little less known problem involving his newest movie, Apocalypto. He put himself in the trailer. If you look at the image I have attached next to this section of my post, you can see the single frame of video that had his image in it. It is him looking almost crazy. The eyes, the beard, the hair, the clothes, everything yells “crazy dude.” How’s that for a positive reflection of American Christians? Now, I know it’s a lot to expect the man to be this shining example of Christianity. He’s a sinful and flawed human being just like the rest of us. But, must he lend himself over to criticism like he does? I mean, at least try a little harder. I’m not sure that anybody in Hollywood can respect him after these two incidents. I’m afraid we might be witnessing another professional demise of the likes of Woody Allen. After Mr. Allen’s interesting romantic relationship with his ex-daughter-in-law, nobody took him seriously any more and he has never really lived it down. I hope the same thing does not happen to Mr. Gibson. For that reason alone, I will go see Apocalypto just to help support his career in what small way I can (I was probably going to end up seeing the movie anyway).
Windy City Jazz
I’M GOING TO SEE JOHN MAYER IN CONCERT!!! HAHA! BOOYAH! Oh, and Sheryl Crow will be there too. Heh heh! Yeah, on Saturday, September 9th, me and 3 of my friends from college will drive 9+ hours north to Chicago to see John Mayer and Sheryl Crow perform live. It’s gonna be one hell of a trip! I was a little hesitant at first. I mean, it’s over 9 hours of driving. It’s an entire weekend’s adventure for 3 hours of musical goodness. Is that really worth it? And then I realized, all I did with my Saturdays last year was sleep in ‘til 1 and watch anime. So, yeah, 9+ hours in a car is perfectly worth it. It gets me out of my room, right? So, yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to that concert.
September Conventioning
September certainly is a packed month for me. Two weeks in a row of road trips. The weekend before the concert, Labor Day weekend, I will be driving down to Dallas to go to AnimeFest. YAY! Another con! I will, yet again, be cosplaying as Shugo from .hack//Legend of the Twilight. It should be a fun weekend. FLOW is going to be performing this year! They are also going to be having some very prestigious anime guests. Yoshitoshi Abe will be there. He’s the guy who did the character design for NieA, Serial Experiments Lain, and Haibane Renmei. Also, the director of Escaflowne will be there. I apologize for not being able to remember the man’s name. Just go to AnimeFest.org to read about the con. And, if you happen to be in the area and go, that would be awesome! It’s going to be a fun weekend.
Now, before I wrap up this post, I have a trivia question for y’all. This one is an interesting one. It’s one I kinda fell upon myself. In the Beatles song, “Lady Madonna,” every day of the week is mentioned except one. Which day of the week is not mentioned? If you know the answer without listening to the song, let me know. But, if you had to listen to (or read) the song to get the answer, please make a note of it in your comment. I’m just curious to know if anyone else in my little circle is as nerdy when it comes to the Beatles as I am. I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

Stuff Related to Movies
Advertising may be described as the science of arresting the human intelligence long enough to get money from it.
- Stephen Leacock
Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day! I feel that way for many reasons, but probably the biggest one right now is because I just hope somebody had a better day than I did. I don’t know why I was feeling down most of the day, I just was. It’s a horrible situation to be in. And with that, on with the post.
Where’d The Slides Go?
My parents and I went to see Miami Vice this evening. It was an interesting movie. Definitely a well done movie if nothing else. I liked it, but thought it’s plot was a little hard to follow. It wasn’t complicated or anything, it was just hard to follow. Anyway, what I actually saw at the movie theater is beside the point. The reason for this post is what it was that I did not see. I’m used to going to a movie and being entertained before it by a slide show of ads and quizzes and movie facts. I loved those little slides. But, recently Cinemark (and if I recall, AMC as well) have switched from the slide show to the new thing called “Sony Previews” or something like that. This switch, I consider, to be a bad thing. The slide show did more than just advertise, it got conversations going. It actually kept the social aspect of going to the movies alive. With the Sony Pictures thing now being shown, people aren’t discussing or talking before movies anymore. Rather, their eyes are glued to the screen watching those stupid preview things. Yeah, I agree with Sony that it is an effective advertising tool, but it has completely sucked the social life from moviegoing. There is no longer any need to go to the movies with a companion, as if there ever really was in the first place. Bring back the slideshow!
That brings up an interesting question, though. Why is it that people have gotten it into their heads that moviegoing is a social occasion? It makes no sense. When you go to a movie, you are sitting in a dark room watching a screen with flashing pictures on it. You aren’t talking to your friends, there is no interaction, you aren’t socializing in any way. You are just watching flashing pictures. How is that social? How can that be considered to be, or even remotely related to, a social event? If anyone has any insight on this, please share your wisdom. Because, that has been bothering me for some time. I, for one, have no problem going to a movie by myself. I do it all the time when I’m at school. But, I have friends (*cough* David *cough*) who absolutely WILL NOT go to the movies by themselves. I swear they treat it like it’s a sin or something. Why?
Goodbye Jet Li. Hello Tony Jaa
What a sad day it was when I realized that Jet Li’s new movie, Fearless, was going to be his last martial arts film. I am going to miss him. He’s such an incredible athlete and actor. I’ve loved every movie I’ve seen him in. Definitely, my favorite movie of his has to be Hero, but I haven’t seen them all, so I can’t say that that pick is set in stone. I can understand why the man is getting out of the marial arts spotlight though. He’s getting pretty old to be doing those kinds of stunts. I’m not saying 43 is old, but I get tired just looking at some of the stuff that man pulls off. It’s gotta be quite a strain on the body. So, so long, Jet Li, and thanks for all the fish…er…uh…good movies.
Now, we might be seeing one great marial artist fade into the distance, but that has left a door wide open for the up-and-coming Tony Jaa to step in. Tony made his debut appearance in Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior and will be in another movie coming to the U.S. pretty soon (I’m sorry I don’t recall the name of the film). But, if you saw Ong-Bak you’d know how good the man really is. I mean, he’s incredible! I’m just worried I’m not going to like his movies as much as I like Jet Li’s. Ya see, there is a fundamental difference between Jet Li and Tony Jaa. Jet Li is Chinese and Tony Jaa is Thai. I’m not being racist or anything, I’m simply pointing out a difference of culture. See, the Chinese and the Japanese view martial arts as… well… an art. Which basically means that not only should your movements be swift, efficient, and deadly, but they should also be aesthetically pleasing. This is reflected in movies such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the aforementioned Hero. The Thai culture does not view marial arts this way. Just watching Ong-Bak you would easily notice that it’s not pretty. The techniques used are gruesome and look extraordinarily painful. It just wasn’t as enjoyable an experience as it could have been. I fear that this is going to be a regular thing with the Tony Jaa movies. Yeah, due to my love of marial arts movies, I’ll still go and see anything that Tony Jaa does, but I just can’t see loving his movies as much as I love the stuff that Jet Li and many of his peers and predecessors have put out.
With that I’ll go ahead and call my post complete. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

My Friend & His Eccentricities
The idea is to always go for the thing that's risky. I want to be courageous and original. And original means, you don't know what 'colour' movie you just saw.
- M. Night Shyamalan
Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day! The past week has been active, yet very uneventful. There is really nothing much to say, which is why I haven’t posted. I’ve been out and active though. I’ve seen a few movies, been out to eat probably one too many times, gone to go club, gone to anime club, watched anime, etc.. I’d love to say something extraordinarily eventful did occur, but that would be lying. So, it’s time to try and fabricate an entire post out of very little material. This should be fun.
Stalker?
Okay, I have a question for y’all. At what point does fascination with a girl and being flirtatious turn into an obsession and stalking? I have a friend who went out with this girl for a couple dates before she said she just didn’t think that it was going anywhere, so they broke up. They are still friends though. Well, she works at a store called Mardel and the man goes over there all the time. It’s started to get out of control. Is this bad? I mean, they’re still friends, and every so often he does actually buy something there. But, is it freaky that he does that?
Lady in the Water
All right, now, I’m doing this post really late in the morning (currently I’m writing this at 12:45AM and I have to be up in less than 6 hours) but I feel like I have to write this while it’s fresh on my mind or I’m going to lose what I want to say. To set things up, I’ve been looking forward to seeing this new M. Night Shyamalan movie, Lady in the Water, ever since I first saw it advertised. I am a big Shyamalan fan and have absolutely LOVED all the films of his that I have seen (I’ve seen all but two). I went with my parents to see it last Friday, and boy was that a treat! GAH! I loved the movie! It’s definitely one of the best movies I have seen yet this year, and it ranks as one of Shyamalan’s best. It had a unique, imaginative, and ingenious story, the plot development was superbly done, the character variety and development were incredible, it was emotional, it was funny, it was suspenseful and downright frightening at times, it was thought provoking, and it had spiritual undertones which really struck a chord with me and my parents. I could go on and on with praise for this movie, but for the sake of my time and the time of those who might read this, I won’t. Just be satisfied to know that I thought this was an outstanding movie and highly recommend it.
Well, I loved it so much I got out and immediately wanted to turn around and go see it again that same evening. There have only ever been four movies like that for me: I, Robot, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Munich, and another Shyamalan movie, Signs. Since I couldn’t do it Friday, I settled for just seeing it again this weekend, but this time I wanted to take my college group from church on Sunday. So, tonight I pitched it to the group. Most said they couldn’t because they had to be up early for work (talk about having your priorities out of whack ^_^) but I managed to get a couple to come. One of those being my film major friend, the same man I spoke about in the above section. I figured he of all people would appreciate this film for it’s merits. After all, it’s a well made filme in all respects. Well, as we’re sitting watching it, I notice he’s sitting next to me texting messages to that girl he likes about how this movie sucks! On top of that, he’s talking out loud during the movie, slamming it and saying how predictable it is. And to cap it all off, the first words out of his mouth when the movie is over were “Well that blew.” Gah! You thickheaded, closed-minded, emotionally shallow, impudent, overly critical, FOOL! How DARE you openly and so rudely insult such a master work of fiction! You know how much I loved that movie! Not only are you insulting that movie, but you’re insulting my taste! I am extremely offended by your brash remarks. This is the last time I make any movie suggestions to you, my “friend.” You’ve seriously been getting on my nerves lately, and you’re really pushing it with this one. Now, if you’ve seen or do see the movie and feel like letting me know your thoughts, don’t be afraid. I don’t hate or dislike people who think a little differently than I do, just be kind and courteous when you relay your opinion. Don’t be rude. I don’t respond well to insolent behavior.
Sorry everyone, I know he doesn’t even read my posts. He’s my best friend when I’m at home, and the man doesn’t even read my posts. So, I’m sorry for blowing up like that. Anyway, with that I’m pretty much done with this post. There’s not much else to say. I hope you all have a great day and go see Lady in the Water. Sayonara!

The Weekend
Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong.
- Theodore Roosevelt
Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a great day! I don’t have much of an intro for this post. There’s really not much I can really say. It’s just another post. It has a couple pretty interesting tidbits, but that’s about it. So, read on, and enjoy.
Keep Your Hands Where I Can See Them
I have a really stupid friend. The man calls me up Friday evening and states that “the game of Magic is dead to him.” Apparently, he was at a Magic tournament and lost pathetically, now he wants to give the game up completely. This I seriously doubt. He likes the game too much to give it up. Anyway, that’s a little beside the point. The fact is, he lost the tournament and decides he wants to get his mind off of it by going to see a movie. I’m fine with this, I was going to see a movie Friday night anyway, whether somebody came with me or not. Well, we work out a movie and a time and he heads over to my house from his tournament. On the way he stops for gas, goes into the minimart, pays for $20 worth of gas, gets back in his car and drives off without filling up. STUPID! He gets all the way to my place before he figures out his mistake. So, now he’s completely out of gas and we’ve got to go. I decide to drive. On the way to the theatre we pass the same gas station where he committed his act of stupidity, so I turn in there and tell him to go and get his money back. They would have a record of whether or not the man actually filled up. He protests and won’t go in. He says it’s not worth it. I say, “What’s not worth it? It’s $20 you just threw away. GO GET YER MONEY!” He still refuses and I leave.
On the way out of the parking lot we notice the restaurant next door. There are cop cars all around it, there are employees talking to cops, and there are two pathetic looking men sitting handcuffed up against a dumpster. From what I can see, the two handcuffed idiots attempted to rob the restaurant and failed. I just keep on driving. We’re running a little behind on getting to the movie after our fruitless stop at the gas station. As I pull out of the parking lot. One of the cop cars lights up and screeches after me. This is the part where I got confused. I don’t know what the hell is going on. At first I didn’t think she was heading for me, but when I switch lanes in an attempt to let her by, she follows. At that point it becomes very apparent that I am her target. I pull over. She gets out of her care and cautiously walks up to my door. “Sir, please keep your hands where I can see them!” Blinding light in my face. I’m now even more confused. “Can I see your I.D., please?” she asks. I get my wallet out and hand her my license. She looks at it for a few seconds and hands it back to me. “I’m sorry for bothering you sir. We’re just looking for a car that matches this description. Have a good evening.” Oh sweet air of life. I can finally breathe again. The whole incident really confused and scared me. I’m just glad she didn’t give me a ticket. Cuz that’s what I was thinking was going to happen. The last thing I need right now is another ticket. Well, we got to the theater a little late. We missed about 5 minutes of the movie. But, that was worth not getting a ticket.
Waterless
My dad is putting in a sprinkler system. This of course requires turning off the water to the house. This normally isn’t much of an inconvenience. No water for an hour or two is bearable. Unfortunately, our water has been out for more than 5 hours now. He’s having troubles. I’m not fully informed as to the reasons why it’s been hard. I think it has something to do with water in the pipes and not being able to join the pipes correctly because he can’t get them hot enough. But, since he’s having troubles, he’s not sure if he can get the water to the house turned back on. And that means no showering, no washing of hands, no washing of clothes, etc. So, we might end up staying at my grandfather’s house tonight. He’s gone to Salem, South Carolina for some Methodist camp meeting thing. I’m not sure. But, he won’t be back all week, so if we have to, we can stay there.
Ringing Ears
I went to a really cool concert last night. A group of guys from my church formed a band and have gotten pretty good. They were performing at a local restaurant last night and my college group decided to go and see them. They along with three other bands, started performing at 10:30 and didn’t stop until 2:30. It was a late night. I loved their band! I had never heard them play before, and dang are they good. I mean, not like good as in good for being a local garage band, but good as in they could be professional. I really think they could if they can ever get a break. They were trying to get a spot performing in the newest Lindsay Lohan movie called Just My Luck. If you saw the movie, you would have noticed a band that got a pretty big role. That was the part that my friends were trying to get. They practically had it. The producer had done everything but come out and say yes. Unfortunately, after like the third or fourth tryout, they decided they didn’t want to use them because of the drummer. I think it sucks. But, hey, I hear they’re back in Hollywood again trying to get a spot in a Hillary Duff movie (I don’t know what it is with them and teen pop idols). So, wish them luck! You’ll love them if you ever hear them.
Well, with that I’m out of here. I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara! OH! Wait! I forgot to tell y’all where that Shakespeare quote from the last post was from. It’s the first line in the play Twelfth Night and it is recited by Duke Orsino. Now, I’m really done. Have a great day!

Melody of Recovery
If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.
That strain again! it had a dying fall:
O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound
That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour!
- William Shakespeare
Greetings All! I hope you’re all having a great day! First of all, I would like to thank everybody for your great response to my last post! I got a total of 7 comments (6 if you don’t include Kendrillian’s double comment). That’s the most I’ve ever accumulated on one post! So, thank you all! It really means a lot to me.
Bridging The Gap
To follow up on that last post, as I had said, I would be going into the dentist’s to get my tooth fixed. That happened today. It was a 10:00 appointment, so I left work at about 9:15. Really, it only takes about 20 minutes to get to the dentist’s from my office. But, knowing my luck, I decided to give myself ample time. This paid off greatly. On the way there I encountered a 5 car collision which had traffic backed up about two blocks. Getting through that intersection alone took 20 minutes. I still managed to get to my appointment on time though. And, once there, the dentist took a gander at my tooth (or lack thereof). He determined it urgent enough to fix on the spot, rather than scheduling a second appointment for the construction procedure. So, since my appointment time was a mere 30 minutes, he spread out the procedure through a period of about 2.5 hours, working on me in the breaks he had between his other appointments. I thank him greatly for it. I now have a band-spanking new tooth in my mouth. It feels a little odd. I can tell it’s fake, but it doesn’t look it, which is the most important thing.
In Site Serenade
As you all might have noticed, I have added an .mp3 player to my site. I had been thinking about doing it for a while, but when I saw the wonderful player that Kitsune Shojo added to her site, I felt it about time I go ahead and do the same to mine. I hope you all like the music I chose. Yeah, it’s a measly little collection, but it’s good. More music will be coming eventually when I can find a way to upload some of my music to the net and link it to the player. But, before that happens, I want to hear your comments on the player. Do you like the player or is it a distraction? If it is a distraction, do you think it would be less of one if I didn’t have the music start automatically? Please let me know what you think. Also, if there is a particular song that just grinds at your eardrums to the point where you can’t stand it any longer, I want to know. You guys are the ones who listen to this music when you come here, not me. So, if you don’t like something, I need to know. Enjoy the tunes!
As I have done in the past, I challenge you all to guess what play that Shakespeare quote at the top of the post came from. And, if you can, guess who it was who spoke the line. This one is easier than the last one. This is a rather large quote and it is in fact the first line spoken in the play. So, I wish you all luck with that. With that I bid you all farewell. I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

And The Bad Chi Continues
Ho! Ye who suffer! Know ye suffer from yourselves. None else compels.
- The Lords of Karma
Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a great day! Today’s post is the accumulation of information regarding the entire past week. There has been a lot of stuff that happened, that much I can tell you. Yet, I can also quite confidently tell you that the “bad chi” I spoke of in one of my earlier posts has not left me, and is in fact increasing. So, on with the post.
FM2601
*sputter* *sputter* *sputter* *klink* *klink* *sputter* -silence-. Well, it wasn’t really complete silence. It was actually just my car that was silent. I, on the other hand, was yelling obscenities and curses I’d preferably not type out here. Why was I yelling? Because I’m stupid. Because I lack grey matter. Because I allowed my car to run out of gas on a stretch of highway dubbed FM2601 outside Moody, Texas (Moody being an apt name considering my current emotional state). I was traveling down to my friend David’s house for a 4th of July celebration consisting of barbecue, explosions, conversation, and anime. As I left the Dallas area I had about ¼ tank of gas. Why I didn’t fill up before I left, I don’t know. But, on this little highway outside Moody was where that ¼ met it’s demise. At this point I had to get out of the car and push it off the road. That was a challenge in itself due to the fact that I was alone. I had some trouble with it. I couldn’t get the thing moving at first by just pushing on it. So, idiotically, I decide to take a running start at it. I back up about 5 feet and run full force with both hands outstretched to catch the edge of the trunk. Of course, being the klutz that I am, my hands completely miss the edge of the trunk and instead catch nothing but air, allowing the full force of my charge to be absorbed completely by my chest. Pain. Lots of it. Thankfully, my stupidity paid off and I did manage to get the car moving, but the price was just too high. My chest still hurts. I can’t even sneeze without wincing.
Also, as I was pushing my car off the road, I managed to encounter some bull nettle. If you don’t already know what this lovely plant is, it’s small, shrub-like, and has hoards of microscopic little needles all over it which when encountered by the epidermis cause an incredible burning sensation that lasts for about two hours. I somehow got both of my legs covered in these wonderful little needles. I then had to walk about 3 – 5 miles to David’s house (which was closer than a gas station at that point). Once there, the rest of it was really simple. David got a can of gas and drove me back to my car. He poured in the gas and then I followed him to the nearest gas station. The walk to David’s place, from my pathetically gasless car, was the most interesting part of the entire event. It took me about and hour and a half to do. I certainly had a long time to think, but mostly I just sang to myself. I also stuck up a conversation with a heard of cows. It’s surprising how insightful those bulky beasts actually can be. I even started spouting bad poetry on my little trek. I can’t remember it now, but I thought it was good at the time.
The rest of the 4th went well. I enjoyed my time at David’s. The barbecue was fantastic, the fireworks were awesome, the conversation was certainly interesting (apparently, according to one girl, watching anime makes me gay), and the anime watching was fun. I’m glad I went.
An Unfortunate Rock-Skipping Incident
This past weekend a couple of my friends from college and I went camping. We went to Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma. It’s an absolutely beautiful area of the country. I loved it. We hiked a bit around the lake, rented some kayaks and went down a 2 – 3 mile stretch of river, and did a lot of swimming. Truly it was a blast. I’m glad we went. So far it’s been the second best weekend of my summer (second only to the amazing A-Kon weekend). But, as is normal with me, nothing good can come without a little bad. The last day of our trip we were down on the lakeshore skipping rocks as we talked. My friend, Joe, picked up what must have been a rather slippery rock and tried to skip it. As he swung, the rock slipped out of his hand. This of course is the hopeful result when one attempts to skip a rock. It leaves the hand, travels an undetermined distance before striking the surface of a body of water at the precise angle that causes it to skip up off the water. Joe’s rock managed to do most of that. Sadly, it got confused around the part where it was supposed to strike the water. It left his had correctly, traveled an undetermined distance before it struck something, but it wasn’t the water that it struck. It’s unfortunate target was instead my face, more specifically, my tooth. It hit so hard it actually chipped off ¾ of my left front tooth. I felt no pain. It was just a sudden jolt. I didn’t even see the rock as it came at me. I’m just glad it wasn’t painful. It’s a little soar now, but that’s all. I’ll hopefully be going in to the dentist tomorrow to get it cleaned and capped. I’ve been needing to visit the dentist anyway.
Wordplay
This evening (Sunday) I saw an absolutely incredible movie! If you haven’t seen it yet, I strongly suggest you go see Wordplay. It’s a documentary about crossword puzzles. This consists of the history of crosswords, the people who make them, the people who solve them, and a tournament which takes place every year in March. So fun! It is probably the most entertaining documentary I have ever seen. Please, if you can, go see this movie. I also saw a midnight showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest on Friday. Also a great movie. I’ll be seeing it again this coming Friday with my boss at work. He want’s to take all of us interns for a PAID afternoon of fun at the movies! How cool is that?! He’s even paying for our tickets and popcorn while still keeping us on the clock! I’m so excited! I’ve never actually made money going to a movie before. I can’t wait.
Well, with that I am finished. I have nothing else to say. So, you can all stop reading now. Have a great day and I’ll see ya ‘round TheO! Sayonara!

O Captain, My Captain
God is not on the side of any nation, yet we know He is on the side of justice. Our finest moments [as a nation] have come when we faithfully served the cause of justice for our own citizens, and for the people of other lands.
- President George W. Bush

The Saturday From Hell
The future is not a straight line. There are many different pathways. We must try to decide that future for ourselves.
- Kiyoko from Akira
Greetings all! I hope you've been having a great day. Mines been. . . well. . . interesting. Other than the events of today though, the past couple days since my last post have been less than remarkable.
About Today
You're probably all wondering what could possibly prompt me to use such a dark title for my post today. Because, the day itself hasn't been that bad. It really just seems to me that absolutely nothing could go right today. I think God just took a day off from looking over me (which I'm sure He probably needed) and just let Lucy have his fun. Normally days start good for me and get worse, but today started bad. The fist thing i remember this morning was my dad coming into my room telling me that the tire on my bike had "blown up." Why would he be telling me this at 8:00 in the morming? It's because i was supposed to be going mountain biking this morning with one of my friends. I didn't really think it'd be all that bad that my bike tire was out of commission, since i could always just use my sister's, which i did. We got to the trail and right off the bat i take a tumble. It quickly became apparent why. The handlebars on my sister's bike were loose and when i tried to turn the wheel, the handlebars turned but chose not to take the wheel with them. Thus, the tumble. I also noticed that when i did turn the wheel, the back of it would come in contact with the bike pedals, which ended up being the reason for my second and last crash of the day (i just felt that i needed to kiss a tree this morning, oh how i do love that tree). After my second crash i realized i could not continue the trail with this bike, i had to go back home and repair it, if possible. Well, having been fed up with my sister's bike, i chose not to repair it, but to take that time to repair my own bike instead. My friend and I went to a sports store and bought a tube for my bike and took it back and replaced it. After we get back out on the trail again, 10 minutes in the tube i just replaced, pops. At this point it had been three hours since we began this whole fiasco, it was getting hot, and neither of us felt like continuing this futile attempt at an outing, so we gave up. Later in the day, we both had planned to go to a local anime club to watch anime for a few hours (something i really wanted to do since i hadn't actually seen any of the stuff all week). I had never been to the club before so i had to check directions online. Mapquest actually gave me wrong directions. So, I managed to drive right past the club building and had to go back over my tracks. Thankfully, we didn't get there too late, we only ended up missing about 10 minutes of the first episode. It was good anime too. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It was an anime that i was told by one of my friends, Toan, to watch. He said it was very very good, and after seeing the first 6 episodes, i have to agree with him. I strongly suggest the anime. It's one of those anime that really appeals to anybody. It transcends genre and has a universal appeal. Watch it. But, after all this, the worst thing that happened today is actually something that isn't happening, at least not for me. ANIME EXPO IS TODAY AND I'M NOT THERE! As i sit here typing this post, CLAMP is having their discussion panel with a room crowded over with people i envy with every bit of my being. I want to be there so bad right now. Just thinking about it puts me in a bad mood. So, i'll stop. But, today could always be worse, so today my pic honors a fellow biker whose bad day trumps anything that old Lucy boy could throw at me. Here's to you, Kaneda. You're ability to experience what you did and still remain sane is an inspiration to us all.
The Ticker
As you have probably noticed at this point, the the Anime Ticker is up and running at full capacity. It will be kept updated as to what it is that i'm watching or reading. I hope you all enjoy it. I'd love to take the credit for how it came out, but i just can't. I have to give all the credit to Kitabug69 for her incredible help with the whole process (and putting up with an extremely frustrated me). I swear, i'm not designed for all this HTML stuff. It just goes over my head. I don't get it. It's like math. I don't get math. I'll never get math. I know i can't do it and therefore try my hardest to stay away from it. The same is true with HTML. So, thank you Kitabug, you have been an incredible help!
All right, with that i'm off. I hope you all have a great day! See ya 'round TheO!
Addendum to the Post
Okay, after reading a couple comments, i get the impression that my saturday was a little misrepresented. Although it does sound like it was a bad day, it was not. I enjoyed my saturday quite a bit. It just seems that i had this bad chi following me around. Nothing went right. That doesn't mean that it was bad though. So, please, dont think my day yesterday was total crap, becuase it wasn't. It was just very interesting. ^_^
