Greetings all! I hope you’ve all been well. I have been. Again, today there really isn’t a lot to post about, which is probably a good thing. I’ve gotten a little tired of my long posts. So, I’m going to try and keep this short.

Caesar1280’s Anime Ticker
Today I thought I would change up my site a little bit. I have added a new feature. It’s “Caesar1280’s Anime Ticker.” It’s basically a count and a list of all the anime (series, OVA’s, and movies) and manga that I have completed or am in the process of completing. This new addition was prompted by two things. One, I just kinda thought it would be cool to let y’all know what it is that I’ve seen or am seeing, and two, I think some of us on TheO, especially us bloggers, have lost sight of what it is that brings us all here together in the first place, anime. Yeah, it’s cool that we all like to share a little bit of our lives with the community, but what about the stuff upon which the community was founded? I came here and started this site with the intention of sharing my anime interests and discussing them. So far, very little of that has happened and on some sites I’ve found, it’s hard to find a reference to anime or manga anywhere. So, consider this ticker a reminder that we are all here because of one thing and one thing only, anime. So, enjoy the new ticker up under my greeting paragraph. Unfortunately, for now i only have the counts, I'll get around to getting the actual lists put up real soon.

For Dragon Phoenix
Dragon Phoenix commented on my last post that she’d like me to post the rules for Go up on my site so she could learn. I was a little hesitant at first. She said she wanted them put up because she wasn’t interested enough to go search for a place to learn in her own area. It’s not that I have anything against it, I have my times of laziness, it’s just that Go is not the type of game that someone can take on without ambition. Yeah, the rules are very simple to learn, but to actually learn go you have to put a lot of time into playing games, observing games, and studying the strategy. You can’t just half-heartedly read the rules and expect to be able to hold your own in a game. It doesn’t work that way. But, then I realized that posting the rules on here might actually inspire Dragon Phoenix to want to seek out someplace to play in her own area. Just maybe this little glimpse of the game will get her interested enough to learn more. So, Dragon Phoenix, by clicking on the lovely link above, simply go through the items in the table of contents in order and you will have learned how to play go. This was the shortest and most concise Go tutorial I found. I hope this inspires you to learn more!


Riddle Me This, Riddle Me That
All right, as you all know by now, I don’t like my job. I find it boring and meaningless. So, like I told you in an earlier post, I have been in search of a way to “spice up” my work day. I found a little hint of spice in Kitabug69’s daily riddles. I decided to copy down the riddles and pass them around the office to each of my fellow interns with the intent of getting our brains churning. I thought this would be a great idea. After all, we are all in this same boat. We are all bored out of our minds. Unfortunately, the riddles only lasted two days. The first day I didn’t get a lot of response. I passed around Kitabug’s riddle from her post on the 27th. The interns seemed a little disoriented at first when I handed them the riddle. I got a couple odd stares. But, once they realized what it was, I thought I detected a hint of interest. At lunch we discussed the riddle. Turns out none of us were anywhere close. But, the conversation only lasted about 2 minutes because, as it turns out, not many of them gave it any more than about a minutes worth of thought before they gave up and went about their mindless tasks. I attributed this to the riddle itself. It was a very difficult riddle and didn’t lend itself well to continual contemplation. So, on the second day I passed around one of Kitabug’s older riddles, one I thought was a little easier that somebody might actually get if they thought about it. I got even less response today. One of them didn’t even look at the little post-it that I gave her and the others just read the riddle and put it off to the side, not to give it another moment’s thought. I was later ridiculed for giving out riddles. Apparently, it’s “stupid.” So sue me for trying to make your days a little more interesting, ya idiots! Gah, no appreciation. That’s the last time I try and do anything for them. Let them liven up their days in their own way.

I Decide to Have a Go at Go

Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a great day like I am! I don’t really know why, but I’ve been in a good mood all day. I was yesterday, too. I know why I was in such a good mood yesterday, though.

Before I get into why I was in such a good mood yesterday, I’m going to give you a little background. It all ties back to the aftermath of my A-Kon weekend. After reading my “A-Kon And It’s Aftermath” post, my dad got concerned and starting thinking up things for me to occupy my evenings with, since my work just wasn’t fulfilling. Although I appreciate his efforts and did like a few of the ideas he came up with, I don’t know if I’m necessarily going to use many of them. I especially liked his charcoal idea though. I really do like the look of charcoal and possibly exploring it a bit would definitely be fun I think. But that’s beside the point. What his ideas really did was get me thinking. I mean, I complain about having nothing to do in the evenings, but what have I been doing about it? Nothing. So, I started thinking of things that I would like to do.

This brings me to why I was in such a good mood yesterday. The first thing that popped into my head as something that I’d like to get involved in was the game of Go. Go is a Chinese board game which originated about 4000 years ago as a method to teach battle strategy. It is, in fact, the most popular game in the entire world. More people play Go than any other game, including chess. Unfortunately, it is not a very popular game in the West and I have never had any way of learning the game. So, that’s what I decided I wanted to do. I wanted to find some place where I could go to learn this game which has fascinated me ever since I saw “Hikaru no Go,” the anime about a kid you starts playing go after he is “possessed” by the spirit of an ancient Go master. Well, I managed to find the one and only place in my area that I could do this. There is a Go club that meets every Thursday at 6:30 in the Starbucks at a Barnes & Noble. It’s basically a gathering of people who like Go, no matter the skill level. There are some AGA ranked Go players who attend as well as some complete novices, like me. Well, I decided to go this Thursday (yesterday). And, IT WAS A BLAST! I had so much fun! At first I just sat down and began playing with this really cool guy named Chris. We played a game (which I lost pathetically) and were noticed by one of the ranked players who then sat down and began teaching us Go strategy. That continued for about an hour. I got a lot of information all at once, so I’m not so sure I’m going to be able to put all of it to use, but too much information is better than none at all. I was unfortunately forced to leave the meeting early due to the fact that my ride (my friend Andrew) had a dinner meeting he had to get to. I would have driven myself, but we had been hanging out at my house and he insisted that he’d drive. I protested, but it didn’t make much difference. I have learned though. From now on I’ll drive myself to the meetings so I can stay as long as I want. I am going to continue going. It was too cool not to.

Anyway, that’s about all I’ve got for y’all today. No… wait. There is one more thing of minute detail that did happen today. Somebody stole my sandwich from the refrigerator at work. I bought one of the Subway 12-inch subs and ate half of it for lunch, planning on the second half being my dinner. Well, I go into the refrigerator at the end of the day and I find that my sandwich is missing. I had heard rumors that this kind of thing happened at offices, but never thought it would happen to me. It was really a hard dose of reality. Yeah, Subway sandwiches really are good enough to steal. It also proves that Subway overprices their sandwiches. A Little Down Time At Work

I need art like I need my coffee. First thing in the morning and several cups to last me through the day.

Greetings all! I hope you're all having a great day! I am, although it has been and interesting day so far. The only reason I’m posting right now is because we had a couple of software related technical difficulties at work and I’ve currently got nothing to do. So, I figured I’d post. Of course, given the current circumstances, I don’t really have a lot to say, so I’ve decided to give you a little description of what it is that I do during the day.

Well, it’s really quite simple. I sit in front of a computer all day and enter client data into a program called CRM, which runs through Microsoft Outlook. That is the program that “blew up” (CRM, not Outlook). That is really all I do. So, I try and figure out ways to “spice up” my day. There are a couple of ways I have found to do this. The biggest and most effective way is my iPod. Really, I thank God for my iPod right now. Without it I’d be so bored I don’t know how I’d survive. The second way I have found is to take hourly breaks. Every hour I take a 5 – 10 minute break and browse around the internet (I try to keep it at 5, but every so often I lose track of time and it ends up being about 10). Mostly I just stay right here on TheOtaku and comment and stuff, but I also roam about DeviantArt, AnimePaper, and other art sites and enjoy what there is to enjoy. I’ve really found a lot of interesting stuff. I’ve seen more art in the past few weeks than I ever did in my own free time. It’s amazing what good can come out of boredom.

All right, we just got the word that the program has been fixed. So I have to get back to work. I was pretty much finished with this post anyway. I hope you all have a great day! See ya ‘round TheO!

On Marriage and Me

From that title I know a few of you are thinking “Oh my God, he’s getting married!” You can go ahead and back the estrogen train up right there. Let it be known that I am NOT getting married. That title simply refers to the odd coincidence of me having four different stories to report which all have the similar topic of marriage.

104-year-old Bride
This event was reported on in various periodicals throughout the world. I read about it in my local paper, but the following text is taken from The Sydney Morning Herald.

A 33-year-old man in northern Malaysia has married a 104-year-old woman, saying mutual respect and friendship had turned to love, a news report said.

It was Muhamad Noor Che Musa's first marriage and his wife's 21st, according to The Star newspaper which cited a report in the Malay-language Harian Metro tabloid.

Muhamad, an ex-army serviceman said he found peace and a sense of belonging after meeting Wook Kundor, whom he said he initially sympathised with because she was childless, old and alone, the report said.

"I am not after her money, as she is poor," Muhamad reportedly said.

"Before meeting Wook, I never stayed in one place for long."

He said he hoped to help his new bride master Roman script while she taught him Islamic religious knowledge.

The report did not say if any of Wook's previous 20 husbands are still alive.

Malaysian Muslim men are allowed by their religion to take up to four wives at a time, but reports of women who marry more than once are rare. Muslim women do not practice polygamy.

How freaky is that? Gah! I can’t imagine what would prompt a man to marry someone that old. That’s just gross. Now, I have nothing against old people, they’re really cool and nice. But, marry one? Hell no!

A Couple at A-Kon Get “Linked” (^_^ I’m proud of this title)
During the Cosplay competition at this year’s A-Kon, a couple (pictured at left), dressed as Link and Zelda from the popular video game series, got engaged. But, I'm not sure if it was an actual engagement or not. Truth be told that I don’t know if anybody knows for sure, but I know what I’ve seen. The two got up to perform a skit, but instead, Link got on one knee and proposed! So, therein lies the dilemma. Was it a skit or was it an actual engagement? Again, I’m not sure. I do know that she said yes!

My Uncle Get’s Hitched
My only uncle on my mother’s side got married a couple weeks ago! So cool! I’m really glad for him. Unfortunately, my family and I were unable to attend the ceremony due to my sister’s graduation. They just moved into their first house this weekend. It’s so cool. I couldn’t be happier for them!

My Sister and My Revelation
Now, I knew you women thought about marriage a lot, but I didn’t know it was to this extent. A couple nights ago during my family’s evening biblical devotional, one question that was brought up was “what do you daydream about?” Me, I dream about various things: art, literature, anime, movies, etc. My sister was very different. She dreams about her wedding day and how she wants it to go, about what would be a sweet way to be proposed to, and what kind of guy she wants to marry. These thoughts have never crossed my mind (with the exception of what kind of woman I’d like to marry). It’s just not important! It surprised me that you women think about that kind of stuff that much. I don’t get it. I will never understand you people.

And Now About Me
If you read my last post, I reported on my emotional situation following the A-Kon weekend. It was pretty pathetic and sad. Fortunately, I am happy to report my depression has subsided. Granted, I still feel alienated, but that’s normal. So, no more worries. I just needed some time to think and a good weekend to get my mind off work. And, it has gone well. Greetings all! I hope you’re all having a great day! This past week has been FULL of interesting things. And, I mean packed. I wish I could have posted earlier and spread all of this out, but I just haven’t had time or have been too lazy or unmotivated. But, I know if I wait much longer I’ll end up writing a novel rather than a post, and nobody wants that. But, to accommodate for your time and to make it easier on you to read, I am dividing this post into sections. This way, you don’t have to read it all at once. Consider this to be four posts in one. So, without further ado, on with the post(s).

The Final Word On My Costume
Well, I know you’ve all been hanging in suspense since my post last week. It left some things unresolved as far as my costume goes. So, I’ll go ahead and fill you in on how that whole thing turned out. I did in fact manage to complete the costume. It was truly a work of time, stress, sweat, and divine intervention. I still can’t believe I actually got it complete. The gloves got here on time like I had expected they would. The trouble was the belt buckle. The belt buckle didn’t arrive until Saturday. That was a little too late. So, on Wednesday last week I went to the mall and bought (and paid way too much for) a belt buckle from one of those fashion belt buckle kiosks that have become popular as of late. The buckle I purchased was initially $25. Now, knowing these salespeople at the kiosks worked on commission, I thought I could talk this woman down. I was able to. I tried to get her to go down to $10, but she wouldn’t. She didn’t want to go below $20. Eventually, a middle ground was reached at $15. Now, this is still sinfully expensive for a friggin belt buckle I was going to be mutilating anyway, but when the fate of your entire costume, which you’ve been planning and working on since January, is hanging by a mere $15 expenditure, you pay it. So, I did. It hurt, I won’t lie, but in the end it was worth it. I spent all week since Monday sewing and finishing it all up. Surprisingly, I had a lot of trouble with Shugo’s white neck warmer. I couldn’t get it quite right. My dad, being very helpful, was the one stuck in front of the sewing machine only he knows how to use cranking out these attempts at the neck warmer. Not a one of them worked like I wanted them to. I ended using one of them, but that was only to use as a stable object in which to stuff the white strip of cloth that became the neck warmer. It was very stressful. By the end of it I think both of my parents were ready to throw this entire project into the fire and sit back while the thing burned. Fortunately, the restrained themselves and the costume came out wonderfully. Still not perfect, but very good. I am satisfied. This brings me to my next topic…

A-KON!!!
A-Kon was this past weekend! YATTA! It was such a blast! I loved every minute of it, I did. It beat out last year’s by a ton I think. In some areas it was lacking, like in the video room department. The anime selections weren’t all that diverse and nothing incredibly new or unique was shown. I did watch the first two episodes of Eureka 7 before I had to go out and wait for David at our prearranged meeting place. The man doesn’t have a cell phone, so if he was for some reason to get lost in downtown Dallas there was no way for him to call me and ask for help or inform me that he was running behind. So, I went through a lot of effort coming up with the best route for the man to use to get into downtown without complication. After all that, the man still manages to get lost because he DIDN’T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! I stood outside in our prearranged meeting spot for an hour waiting on the man. Its not all that cool inside my three-layer costume. With the high for the day being a whopping 95 degrees in Dallas, this hour was not very fun. Shame on you, David. Learn to follow directions. ^_^

Anyway the rest of the weekend went phenomenally. I got plenty of pictures taken of me. I can tell you that was very good compensation for the amount of effort I put into that costume. There were also plenty of pictures taken of other costumes as well. David brought the camera, so I didn’t have much of a say as to who got a picture taken of them and who didn’t, but he did a great job. The highlight of the weekend was definitely the concert on Friday night. My group missed most of the first concert performed by Kristine Sa because we were stuck in a Chinese restaurant waiting on our food, but the second concert was not to be missed. KOTOKO was INCREDIBLE!!! It was the most fun I have had at a concert in ages, if not ever. She is so good! I loved her music and went and bought her CD on Saturday. (It’s been in my car CD player ever since). I didn’t stop moving the entire concert. I’m not sure, but I think I might have been the only person jumping, but I don’t care. I couldn’t help myself. She was just too good. The other Japanese musical guest attraction, performing on Saturday night, was not nearly as good as KOTOKO was, although they were the more anticipated. Penicillin Nano is what the group was called. They are a small offshoot of the popular J-pop group Penicillin. I don’t consider them J-pop though. They are more rock then pop. Not really my taste. I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy their concert, I did enjoy it, but it was certainly not worth the 4-hour wait and the hearing loss. I still don’t think my ears have returned to normal after that thing.

Sunday was shopping day at the Kon. I spent three non-consecutive hours in the dealers’ room milling about and drooling. So much stuff to buy, so little money! I eventually did come out with two things. One, was purchase by David. He insisted on buying something for me, saying “I never bought you a birthday present”. I don’t know why he felt so inclined, but I think him for it. He bought me Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. Awesome series. Hilarious. I also spent about an hour in the dealers’ room contemplating the purchase of a men’s kimono. I’ve wanted one for a while and figured A-Kon would be the place to buy one. And it is. There were plenty of clothing dealers there from whom to buy. I ended buying one. One large issue though. I didn’t know anything about men’s kimonos before I purchased one. They are supposed to go all the way to your ankles and wrap about around what appears to be about a quarter of your body while still being comfortable to move around in. The one I bought did not do this. But, I didn’t think I was buying a kimono anyway. I wasn’t sure what I was buying, but in the “heat” of the moment, I went ahead and cracked. I bought it. Well, it is in fact a men’s kimono, not something else. It only goes about as far down as the top of my calf and does not wrap around my body. Clearly it was made for a much smaller man than I, or a child. Thankfully, my card was declined (how often are you going to hear that huh?). The women I bought it from called me today asking if I would figure out some other means of paying them or fixing it with the credit card company. I’m not going to fix anything. I’m going to mail the thing back to them and seriously look into buying a kimono elsewhere, now that I have actually put forth the effort of researching the garment.

So that was A-Kon. It was a great weekend. I can’t believe it’s over. It doesn’t feel like it should be. Too short. It always is. Withdrawal
You know that feeling you get when you get back home after an extremely fun and relaxing vacation and are thrown back into reality? This is what I’m going through, right now, only different. When you go on a vacation, you leave your own home and your own culture and visit a new one. You go to a place you are unfamiliar with and where you don’t belong and you explore. Then you come back and return to normality. It’s the opposite with A-Kon and all conventions in general. I don’t really belong in reality as we know it. I don’t think I really fit in. In fact, I know I don’t fit in. I’ve always been the outcast, the one people made fun of, and the dork. It’s only at A-Kon and other conventions where I am no longer the outcast. I can actually about my interests with people at the conventions and they won’t think I’m weird for it, because they are the same as me. It’s a wonderful feeling and I slightly envy all who are able to do this in American culture. So, coming back from a con is like leaving my home and going to the unfamiliar land where people look at you funny because you aren’t a native. It’s difficult to return to an environment like this. When I’m at school it’s not so bad because I have friends there who are like me. But at home, even though I have a couple of friends. It’s not the same because I rarely see them. I’m mostly stuck in this reality by myself. It’s especially hard at work. I go to work and I sit in front of a computer doing data entry. I sit there for 8+ hours a day and have all the time in the world to think. It’s boring as hell. I don’t even have anybody to talk to when I’m on breaks. And work was already hell before you factor in the social aspect. It’s exactly what I have feared my life would be like ever since I first started thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. I made a specific goal NOT to get stuck in a job I hated where all I did was watch the seconds tick by slower and slower until they finally hit 5:00. That’s all I live for now, the magical strike of clock at 5:00. I have nothing to occupy my time with when I get home either. Before the con I had my costume to work on, which occupied most of my free time outside of work. I also had my class. But, now the costume is finished and my class has been over for more than a week and I’ve got nothing to look forward to. Nothing to get me through the day. I started thinking today about why it is that I look forward to 5:00. What is it that keeps me going. And when I couldn’t formulate an answer, I almost cried. What is it that I am doing with my life? What keeps me going? These are the thoughts that race through my mind. It happened to me last year after A-Kon as well. In fact, it was worse last year. Last year I actually did cry as I stood over my copy machine shoving countless numbers of documents through the scanner. Last year I pulled out of it though. And, I’ll do the same this year as well. I guess it’s the price I have to pay for having such a good time (as if the $80 room fee and $25 admission wasn’t enough ^_^).

Conclusion
Well, that’s what’s been going on for the past week since my last post. A lot, eh? I think so. I apologize for the length of this post. I’ll be very surprised if anyone actually reads this thing all the way through. If you do, I congratulate you. If I was you I don’t know if I could have done it. Heh heh! I won’t do another one this long ever, I hope. This one just had to be this long. One topic just sort of flowed into the other. I couldn’t really break it off at any particular point or it would have been incomplete, you see? Again, congratulations to all who successfully completed this post. THE FATE OF MY COSTUME DEPENDS ON WHAT?!!!

Greetings all! I hope you’re having a great day, because only a great day is one worth having! I’m glad to actually have something to report, little as it may be. Today marks the beginning of a week of panic and frustration on my part in regards to my costume. It’s very close to being completed, like within a mere 5 hours of work at most, the problem is not all of my materials are here yet. The belt buckle I found on eBay is still not here. I don’t know when that should be getting here. I asked the seller to please ship as soon as possible. And, since the item is only in Florida, I figure it’ll get here pretty fast. I have faith that it will arrive this week. Oh God, please let it arrive this week. Also, my gloves are not here yet either. But, I know where those are. They were shipped today via 2-day UPS mail. I ordered them over a week ago, and when they never arrived I got worried. So, in response to an email I sent the company, a nice guy named Chris explained to me that the gloves were not in stock when I ordered them and had to be made. He said they’d get them shipped on Monday (today). So, I’m sure they will get here in time. So, as I said, week of panic and frustration. The fate of my costume is left in the hands of our mail service. How unnerving is that?

As far as the rest of the costume goes, I got most of it completed this past weekend. I spent all weekend dying and sewing. It now looks mostly complete! All it’s missing is the gloves and belt. Those, with all luck, will be ready in time. So, please, if you share my Christian faith, pray to God that these things get here on time. I have spent way too much time, effort, and money on this costume to have my efforts thwarted by slow mail service.

In other news, my sister started her first job today! Congrats, Erin! She is working at the same financial firm that I am. What a coincidence, eh? I think so. It’s nice to have her there, too. She’s a great worker and does everything with a smile. I know she’ll do great. Good luck!

That’s all I have for you all today. I’m glad everyone liked my last post. It was merely a post of laziness and yet I’ve gotten more comments on it than any of my other posts. Kinda sad isn’t it? Heh heh. I’d stop typing such long posts if I could only figure out a way to stop typing. The issue is that I can’t. I am long winded. So, if the length of my posts bother you I’m sorry, but get over it. I’m not stopping. I like my posts how they are. I’ll be sure to lighten things up every so often with something which requires a little less effort though. So, please, keep stopping by my site and by all means please START commenting. Anyway, I don’t have really anything else to say. So, I bid you all farewell. I shall post again soon.

Greetings all! I hope you’re having a great day, because only a great day is one worth having! There really hasn’t been much that happened since Monday to warrant a new post, so I figured I’d entertain you with a few InuYasha pics I found online. A Long Post for a Week of Boredom

Greetings All! Hope you’re having a great day, because only a great day is a day worth having. Things are going well for me for the most part. I haven’t really posted all week due to the fact that there really hasn’t been all that much to post about. My life has begun to resemble that of a prisoner’s. Not that I feel like I am in prison, but that my life has become extremely routine. And, it will unfortunately stay that way through most of the summer. My job, as I had feared, is sinfully boring. It’s not bad it’s just boring as hell. As I think I stated in an earlier post, I work for a financial firm. My firm recently acquired the rights to the clientele of another firm that went out of business. So, my job is to stand in front of a copy machine all day and scan client files into our firm’s electronic database. How fun! My feet are typically killing me by the end of the day, so there goes my attempt at running after work each day during the summer. Standing in one place on a hard linoleum floor all day really does a number on one’s tootsies. All I have to say is thank God that I have my iPod. Without it, I don’t know if I could survive the day. Although, the pay is great. I make a whole $10 an hour. So, I really shouldn’t be complaining. It’ll be a long summer though. I still hold out hope that this won’t be the only thing I do at work every day. Maybe something more interesting will come along and I’ll get to leave my little taupe prison. God-willing.

Apart from work, my life hasn’t been to filled with interesting stuff. But, that doesn’t go for my entire family. My sister is graduating from High School this year! Congratulations! She’s going to be going to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville! A Razorback. Heh heh. Who would have guessed. I wish her all the best as she enters her freshman year. I’m glad she’s going to be going there with a friend. That will alleviate the awkwardness of not knowing anyone on campus. That’s the hardest part of the move-in. So, it’ll be a little easier on her.

Now, speaking of college next semester, I received some rather depressing news on Friday. As it turns out, my roommate-to-be will not be returning. He informed me via AIM that his parents have decided that they can’t afford to send him to a university anymore. This sucks. I was really looking forward to having him as a roommate next semester. It sucks for him even more though. I’ve been in his situation. This happened to me after my freshman year. I had to switch from my previous university to the one I am currently at because we simply couldn’t afford to send me there anymore. The fact that my grades were pathetic didn’t help the situation either. So, he’ll have to be going to a different school starting in the fall. It’ll be hard on him just like it was on me. So, my prayers go with you, Matt. I’ll be sure to visit you sometime next year so we can catch up. Of course, he isn’t the only one who is suffering because of this whole deal. Me, and my friend’s previous roommate (along with my previous roommate’s future roommate) are all suffering because of this. The issue is my room. Because of my friend, I was able to get into the most coveted dorm on campus. This came at a price. His roommate last semester wanted the room as well. The two pairs of roommates had to fight over who was going to be getting the room. I was happy that my roommate and I won the fight, but I was sad for the other two because they are good friends of mine as well and they had to downgrade to a smaller room. Well, now I’m in this incredibly large room by myself and the two of them are cramped in a small room in the only all-guys dorm on campus. I’ll most likely end up being stuck with an incoming freshman as a roommate. I don’t want a freshmen roommate! I want my friends who lost the fight over the room to have it! This is just unfair to them and it’s unfair to me. That and now I am in this hall, in fact this entire dorm, with none of my friends. All of my friends are still in the all-guys dorm (with one exception who is in a co-ed dorm at the bottom of the hill). I don’t know anyone in this entire dormitory. It sucks all around. So, I’d kinda like to move out of this room, but I don’t know how I could. We’ll have to see how it plays out. I’ll call my university on Tuesday to see what can be done.

On a better note, Tuesday marks the beginning of my last week of summer school! Yay! I can’t wait for this class to be over. It’ll be such a load off my shoulders. An entire semester’s work of English in a three week time period. Talk about packing it in. It’s really stressful to do that much work in that short a time. I’ve survived well. I’ve made all A’s thus far and plan to keep it that way. So, keep me in your prayers as I complete this last week.

Lastly, A-Kon is in two weeks! I can’t wait! I was hoping to finish my costume this weekend, but unfortunately was unable to with my sister’s graduation and all. I fear I might have to enlist that help of my mother with some of the sewing stuff. I know I can get this thing finished in time. I’ve got plenty of time to do it. I just worry that my class and my job might take up all that time. So, we’ll see. One way or another this costume will be complete by A-Kon. It’s going to be incredible too. Just wait for the pics when I get them uploaded after the wonderful weekend of nerdiness galore. You can all bow down and worship me for my costuming genius. Heh heh.

That’s all I have for you all today! I’ve had a couple posts where only one person commented. This is sad. Is my life really that boring to all of you? I hope not. It’s not boring to me at least. Lamentations

Greetings All! Hope you’re having a great day, because only a great day is one worth having. I come to you primarily with an update from my last post as well as a couple new items. First of all, the update. The wig dye that I said was in the mail has arrived. So, now I can dye the thing! Yay! I also got the first pieces of the belt today. I’m still lacking one piece though, the buckle. I need a belt buckle. I found one on eBay that is acceptable but because it’s pewter it is probably quite heavy. Since my pants don’t have belt loops, having the buckle be heavy could be a bad thing. Sure, I could sew belt loops on, but the costume doesn’t have them. I’m trying my very hardest to keep this thing as authentic as possible. To put belt loops on it would go against everything I’m trying to accomplish. Thus, I must find a belt buckle that is lighter. A solid pewter one is just not going to work. If worst comes to worst I’ll settle, but I’d prefer not to settle.

Lament, derived from the Latin word lamentum, is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as “to express sorrow, mourning, or regret for often demonstratively; Mourn”. I inform you of this because that is the state in which I am currently for two reasons. The lesser of the two is the fact that Hollywood has started the production on Mrs. Doubtfire 2. This is a travesty! The first one was so good they should just leave it! I love that movie! Now they’re making another one to be put into the genre of “family movie”; a genre Hollywood has redefined as of late. A family movie is supposed to be just that, a movie geared towards an entire family. It should be a movie clean enough to be seen by children but entertaining enough to keep the adults interested as well. Lately, the genre has been quite the opposite. Hollywood has gotten so desperate that they are gearing movies completely and totally towards kids now. As any movie producer knows, a children’s movie has a higher possibility of making money than a movie designed for a more mature audience. This is because for every kid that goes to see a movie, an adult must follow. All a movie has to do is interest one kid in a household and the entire household of children, along with at least one parent, will be seeing the movie. So, Hollywood is gearing movies completely and totally towards kids now. After all, the adult’s ticket is guaranteed if they can just get the kids interested. Family movies have gotten so mindless and immature that I just can’t stand it anymore. If they market a movie as a family movie, I have to think twice before seeing it. Now, they’re making Mrs. Doubtfire into one of thise “family movies”. They’re going to ruin it! GAH! Mrs. Doubtfire was the true family movie, and now it has been downgraded to a piece of crap. I lament for the sake of Hollywood. IS NOTHING SACRED ANYMORE?!

The second reason for my lamentation is the fact that I missed a concert I would have greatly enjoyed seeing last week. Imogen Heap, my current favorite music artist, was in Dallas on the 10th and I didn’t realize it. WHY? The woman is my favorite musical artist and I didn’t even know she was in the US touring! What kind of a fan am I? What kind of a fan am I that I would go to my college group and stand around eating hamburgers and talking when I could be sitting in a packed out theatre listening to some of the best music I have ever heard being performed LIVE? This sucks! I’ve read numerous reviews of the show and supposedly it was one of the best she has ever done. It’s just pathetic. I am pathetic! *cries* Well, I guess this is a good thing though. I didn’t exactly have the money to being going to any live concerts and now I can hold out and wait until the next time she is in the US and hear her perform songs from her new album! I hope it’s out by the time she tours the States again. I think it will be though. Some new stuff has been coming out from her lately. Her newest singl, “Goodnight and Go,” has at least one new song on it. So, I’ll look on this as a positive thing, although I still lament the fact that I missed her and didn’t even know I was missing her. Horrible, it’s just horrible.

Even In A Boring Week...

Greetings All! I hope you are all doing fantastic this lovely day. I can tell you that I sure am. Heh heh! Why am I so happy you wonder? Well, yesterday I finally noticed the two packages sitting on my desk. They are the packages I have been waiting so patiently for. They contain two articles of clothing greatly needed for my costume for A-kon this year! One of them I was extremely worried about too. The wig I had ordered way back in March. I had it sent to my dorm address but it never made it there. I don’t know what could have happened, but it must have gotten lost in the mail somewhere. So, I emailed the company back saying I needed them to send it again, but this time to my home address. They said that it would be no problem and that they would get right on it. But, since the first one got lost, I was a little worried the second one would do so as well. After all, the thing is coming from Hong Kong. Odds are against it’s safe arrival. So, when it got here I was more than a little relieved. Well, being a very visual person, when I decided to put on what of the costume I had, it got me all pumped up. I was finally able to actually see what I had left to do. And, it’s virtually nothing! The hardest part of this entire thing is going to be the belt. I’m still not completely sure how I want to do it. But, everything else is completely and totally taken care of. Even the gloves that I have been fretting over so much have finally fallen into place. I mean, for a while I have been worrying that I might not get the costume completed by A-kon, but now I totally feel like I can do this! I’m gonna finish this thing people! So, all I have left to do now is make the belt, the bracelet, and the backpack, dye the wig (the wig dye hasn’t yet arrived in the mail) and actually sew the thing up the way it’s supposed to look (in other words, hem the pants and cut and sew the shirt into the vest). After that, I’m done! HA HA! This costume is going to be so friggin SWEET! I’ll be very happy when it’s finished too. It’ll be a big load off my shoulders. Maybe I’ll wear this one for more than a year. I really feel like I should after the amount of effort and stress that has gone into this thing. The Kiba costume is cool and all, and I’ll most likely drag it out for part of a day at A-kon, but I can’t see wearing it very much anymore. I like this Shugo one so much better. It’s so much more interesting and so well done. Anyway, that’s all the happiness I have to relay as of today.

I started my job and my summer school this week. 4 hours of repetitive work followed by four hours sitting in an English II class. Somebody shoot me now and put me out of my misery. The work is actually turning out to be more interesting than I had thought it would be. Although it is meaningless and repetitive work, it’s physical activity. That’s leaps and bounds superior to sitting in a cramped desk for 4 hours straight. I also get to listen to my iPod at work. So, there’s music to accompany me. It’s really quite pleasant. I think I’ll survive the summer working there again. I just hope I survive this English course.

And, for the last note of the day, my parents decided to switch the family over from Sprint to T-Mobile. Granted, I haven’t heard to many great things about T-Mobile. One of my friends from my previous university has it and is consitantly complaining about it. He complains about a lot of things though, so I don’t really take him all that seriously when it comes to things like this. No offense, dude. But, with a new service comes new phones! I got a new Motorola SLVR phone! It’s very nice. Sadly, the thing isn’t activated until this weekend. So, for now it gets to grace the surface of my desk with it’s presence while I walk around with my other phone. All right, that’s all I’ve got for today. Y’all have a great day!
