A Long Post for a Week of Boredom

Greetings All! Hope you’re having a great day, because only a great day is a day worth having. Things are going well for me for the most part. I haven’t really posted all week due to the fact that there really hasn’t been all that much to post about. My life has begun to resemble that of a prisoner’s. Not that I feel like I am in prison, but that my life has become extremely routine. And, it will unfortunately stay that way through most of the summer. My job, as I had feared, is sinfully boring. It’s not bad it’s just boring as hell. As I think I stated in an earlier post, I work for a financial firm. My firm recently acquired the rights to the clientele of another firm that went out of business. So, my job is to stand in front of a copy machine all day and scan client files into our firm’s electronic database. How fun! My feet are typically killing me by the end of the day, so there goes my attempt at running after work each day during the summer. Standing in one place on a hard linoleum floor all day really does a number on one’s tootsies. All I have to say is thank God that I have my iPod. Without it, I don’t know if I could survive the day. Although, the pay is great. I make a whole $10 an hour. So, I really shouldn’t be complaining. It’ll be a long summer though. I still hold out hope that this won’t be the only thing I do at work every day. Maybe something more interesting will come along and I’ll get to leave my little taupe prison. God-willing.

Apart from work, my life hasn’t been to filled with interesting stuff. But, that doesn’t go for my entire family. My sister is graduating from High School this year! Congratulations! She’s going to be going to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville! A Razorback. Heh heh. Who would have guessed. I wish her all the best as she enters her freshman year. I’m glad she’s going to be going there with a friend. That will alleviate the awkwardness of not knowing anyone on campus. That’s the hardest part of the move-in. So, it’ll be a little easier on her.

Now, speaking of college next semester, I received some rather depressing news on Friday. As it turns out, my roommate-to-be will not be returning. He informed me via AIM that his parents have decided that they can’t afford to send him to a university anymore. This sucks. I was really looking forward to having him as a roommate next semester. It sucks for him even more though. I’ve been in his situation. This happened to me after my freshman year. I had to switch from my previous university to the one I am currently at because we simply couldn’t afford to send me there anymore. The fact that my grades were pathetic didn’t help the situation either. So, he’ll have to be going to a different school starting in the fall. It’ll be hard on him just like it was on me. So, my prayers go with you, Matt. I’ll be sure to visit you sometime next year so we can catch up. Of course, he isn’t the only one who is suffering because of this whole deal. Me, and my friend’s previous roommate (along with my previous roommate’s future roommate) are all suffering because of this. The issue is my room. Because of my friend, I was able to get into the most coveted dorm on campus. This came at a price. His roommate last semester wanted the room as well. The two pairs of roommates had to fight over who was going to be getting the room. I was happy that my roommate and I won the fight, but I was sad for the other two because they are good friends of mine as well and they had to downgrade to a smaller room. Well, now I’m in this incredibly large room by myself and the two of them are cramped in a small room in the only all-guys dorm on campus. I’ll most likely end up being stuck with an incoming freshman as a roommate. I don’t want a freshmen roommate! I want my friends who lost the fight over the room to have it! This is just unfair to them and it’s unfair to me. That and now I am in this hall, in fact this entire dorm, with none of my friends. All of my friends are still in the all-guys dorm (with one exception who is in a co-ed dorm at the bottom of the hill). I don’t know anyone in this entire dormitory. It sucks all around. So, I’d kinda like to move out of this room, but I don’t know how I could. We’ll have to see how it plays out. I’ll call my university on Tuesday to see what can be done.

On a better note, Tuesday marks the beginning of my last week of summer school! Yay! I can’t wait for this class to be over. It’ll be such a load off my shoulders. An entire semester’s work of English in a three week time period. Talk about packing it in. It’s really stressful to do that much work in that short a time. I’ve survived well. I’ve made all A’s thus far and plan to keep it that way. So, keep me in your prayers as I complete this last week.

Lastly, A-Kon is in two weeks! I can’t wait! I was hoping to finish my costume this weekend, but unfortunately was unable to with my sister’s graduation and all. I fear I might have to enlist that help of my mother with some of the sewing stuff. I know I can get this thing finished in time. I’ve got plenty of time to do it. I just worry that my class and my job might take up all that time. So, we’ll see. One way or another this costume will be complete by A-Kon. It’s going to be incredible too. Just wait for the pics when I get them uploaded after the wonderful weekend of nerdiness galore. You can all bow down and worship me for my costuming genius. Heh heh.

That’s all I have for you all today! I’ve had a couple posts where only one person commented. This is sad. Is my life really that boring to all of you? I hope not. It’s not boring to me at least. Please, comment. Comment even if you have nothing to say. I’ll accept a simple “. . .” as a comment. I just want to know that people are actually reading this thing and that I’m not typing all of this for nothing. Well, I’m really typing it for me. This is a great way for me to vent and for me to reminisce about what’s going on in my life. But, it still helps to know that I am not the only person who thinks this stuff is even mildly interesting. It’s my life after all. If other people can’t find it comment worthy, then what’s the point. So, please comment (and comment on the fan art as well. I’ve only gotten one comment on one of my pieces.
