Not Ready to Die

Woohoo!...I spent the day drawing, and now I'm playing on the computer. It's been forever since I spent a whole day goofing off, I had almost forgot what it felt like. Let me tell ya... it feels GOOD!

Ok, so I have a new drawing in my fan art. It's a drawing that my good friend, Ryan a.k.a. no one, asked me to draw a while back. It's of Akira Ishida from Samurai Deeper Kyo. I've never seen it, but like I said, it was a request. Also, I colored it with Prismacolor pencils. I think I'm getting a little better with them. Though, when I scan pictures with the Prismacolor pencils parts of it look kind of blotchy. It doesn't look as well as the actual drawing. Uh-well, what can ya do?

School is going... just going. Not really going anywhere I guess.

I don't really have anything else to mention. So, I'll quit boring you.

Take care.

Ok, so I finished visiting sites. If somehow I missed your site, I apologize, and just let me know, I'll pay you a visit.

Now here I am adding another post. Don't get your hopes up, chances are I won't have another one up for a while again. I'd like to update here more often, but my classes are killing me.

I'd like to try and update atleast once a week, but I just can't even seem to do that. As it is, as I sit here typing this, I have homework that needs to be done. But I decided that I was going to pay a visit to all of my friends here on Otaku no matter what.

Well, I'm learning quite a bit about Adobe Illustrator, it's a fun program. I will probably put some of my stuff on my DA account.

I've learned a lot of really cool, new techniques from my drawing class.

My 2D Design class has been fun. We have been getting into using our acrylic paint to create designs, yay! Also, I have a presentation to do on the artist, Anselm Kiefer.

And then there is Math 108, well I'm not going to go into detail about what I'm learning in that class because I'm sure you really aren't interested, and besides, I'm seriously behind in that class. I'm taking that one on the internet, and it's really easy to fall behind. Fortunately, I can work at my own pace, but I have to be caught up by the end of the semester. Ummm... wish me luck, I need it!

The new drawing I submitted is of Kakashi on Naruto. I have been trying to watch it more often, but it's rather slow going. But I really like Kakashi, so I decided to draw him. I also caught Evangelion last week, it looks like a good one. Oh, and I caught a bit of Rah Xephon, but I ended up falling asleep while watching it. I hate it when that happens.

OH!!!... the week before last, just as I was about to leave my drawing class one of my classmates had a bag that said Fullmetal Alchemist on it. I told her that I love anime, and of course she loves FA. I think it's pretty cool when I run across other anime fans, because it doesn't happen too often.

Well, I'm gonna end this post with a drawing I did. My daughter, Tawny is in drawing also at the high school and she brought home these step-by-step tutorials to draw some fantasy creatures. Well, I drew the sea serpent. Something she learned in her drawing class, that I have not done in mine is stippling (series of little dots for shading). So, this drawing was my first time using that technique and I think it turned out very well. I think I like using this technique.

Well, that's all for now. I hope all is well with you.

Take care.

Ok, first off, I want to apologize for not getting to all of the sites that I should have the last time I was here. I am going to get right on top of it immediately.

I'm just adding a short post for now, then get to visiting pages, then I'll post more this evening.

I submitted a drawing today, so if you have the time take a peek. If you don't have the time, I understand.

Anyway, I'm going to end this now so I can see what all of my friends here have been up to lately.

Take care.

Hmmm...*thinks to self, "How shall I begin this post? Have I forgotten how to post? Will anyone remember me? Why am I asking myself these questions? Just type the damn post!* ^_^

Ok, so I will first apologize for not coming around in such a long time. I've been rather busy with classes, though I just dropped one last week. It was my Survey of Art class. I had 15 credits and I was finding it was just too hard to handle that much. Plus, it was the one that I kept getting a headache in because it was so late in the evening and I have an early morning class the same day.

Anyway, classes are going good. I have been doing a lot of drawing, but most of it is not anime. I have been putting a lot of the stuff I've been working on for my classes on my DA account. After I post this I'm going to put a link to my DA account on here in case anyone wants to check out what I've done lately. I'm going to try to update my art on there once a week if I can.

Also, I got my 120 set of Prismacolor pencils. I have been using them a little, but it takes some practice to get the coloring down well. So, I'm not doing too many colored ones yet until I get a little better at it.

In my Computer Graphics class we have been working with Adobe Illustrator, it's a cool program. I also have it on my computer at home, so I've been playing with it a little. In that class we use the Wacom Graphire pads, they have a cordless mouse and pen. Well, I bought one for myself to use at home. It's a rather useful tool to have with Graphics programs. Though, it does take some getting used to.

Let's see, on the anime news front... I haven't seen any new anime really, I've watched a few episodes of Naruto. Just the usual Saturday night shows and the ones on Monday through Thursday. I never did continue on with Get Backers, one of these days I will though.

Ok, I am running out of things to mention on here, so I'm gonna end this post. But I want to share a couple of pics I drew in the past few days. Since these aren't technically anime I can't put them in my fan art, but I will be putting them in my DA gallery.

The first one I drew for my 4 year old daughter, Amber, because she said the likes Martin Mystery from the cartoon Martin Mystery.

And the next one I drew today (Monday, October 3). I came up with this idea for a different kind of Spongebob... it is... Grungebob! ^_^

Hehe... I've been told that I should send that one to Nickelodeon. I may, but I'd like to clean it up some. Maybe even color it.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the drawings. And I hope all is well with all of my Otaku friends. I will try to get to some sites tonight and tomorrow.

Take care!

Sunday, September 11, 2005

Well, I suppose it's time that I update this thing.

I have been rather busy with classes, homework, and getting everything for me and the kids. I'm so tired of shopping. I'm not really into shopping, though I do like to just browse on my own and get what I need. But when I have to drag the whole family to 12 different stores in one day to get stuff for four kids, that's when I hate shopping.

In my Computer Graphics class we have been learning Mac OS X Tiger, it's pretty cool. I'm thinking about getting one for myself. Of course I will be one of those who can appreciate both Mac and Windows. Unlike my instructor, he was offended by the mention of "shortcut" instead of "alias". (For those who don't know what I'm talking about, on Windows when you have an icon like say on your desktop that is a "shortcut" to something that is located say in My Documents, then it is called a "shortcut" and it has the little corner curled with an arrow. Well, with Mac it's called an "alias".)

Last Wednesday I had fun in my Drawing class. We did a lot of drawing, but it was just simple gesture drawing. Unfortunately, I started getting this headache toward the end of that class (3 hour class), then I had to go straight to my Survey of Art class (also 3 hours), which gets out at 10 p.m. Well, the headache continued and I started feeling sick to my stomach. About an hour and a half into the class I ended up walking out. But I called my instructor the next day to apologize and he was cool with it. He said I didn't look too good. I'm not sure what happened. I'm wondering if it was due to stress. (I've had a lot of that lately)

Hey, I watched Escaflowne the Movie last night. I had heard so much about this anime, and I was not disappointed at all! It's a great anime. I'm thinking I may have to draw some characters from it. But I'm not sure when that will be.

My son, Casey, turns 10 tomorrow. He already got a gift today. He's really into AirSoft guns, so he upgraded from hand guns to a rifle. And of course suddenly we find every kid in the neighborhood at our house, including the neighbor guy (technically not a kid, but then most men technically never grow up) :P hehe... j/k

Ok, I'm outta here. I'm gonna visit some sites now.

Take care!

And I was doing so good...

Yeah, I disappeared again. I was going to post last Friday and let everyone know that I wouldn't be around over the weekend or much this week in preparation for going back to school. But I didn't get a chance to.

I had a really nice weekend. We went out boating again Saturday and Sunday. I got sunburned on Sunday, and did a lot of swimming. We anchored the boat about 50 yards from the swimming area and put on our life vests and swam in and back. That's the most swimming I've done in a long time. But it was fun.

Yesterday I finally got my books for my classes. For my Computer Graphics class I will be learning Mac OS X Tiger and Adobe Illustrator. So, of course I just had to get Illustrator for myself. I played with it a little last night, it's a pretty cool program.

I also got some art supplies. Not everything that I wanted, but a good start. I got various drawing books and a few sets of various pencils, including charcoal, chalk and sketch. My husband suggested that I get some more chalk and draw Grave on our driveway. It's tempting, but it would be very time consuming. If I do, I'll be sure to take a pic of it.

And now for a pic. Today's pic is a drawing I did last night with my new art supplies. It's not anime, but I used to draw horses all the time when I was younger, and my 4 year old daughter told me to draw a horse, so here it is...

Well, tomorrow I finally get the mole taken off. I'm excited about it. So, I'll be sure to post a pic after it has healed.

That's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

Take care!

What an interesting day I had. I figured out more things I could do with my page. Mind you, some of this stuff I get from my books, and some of it I find on the internet.

Anyway, I also ran across this new background right here on otaku. The artist is Lonly Wolf.

Ok, so here's something that made the day interesting. I ran across an anime character... nope, not a guy this time.
Does anyone know of this character?

Well, her name is Ci Caprice, she is on the Sakura Wars: Le Nouveau Paris (OAV) if you don't know. I never thought in a million years there would be a character with a name so close to mine.

I haven't seen it, but I ran across it on the internet. I also found a song, March Caprice, that is on the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack.

And then, there is a hotel in Rome named The Caprice, there is a restaurant in London called Le Caprice, and there is a fishing outfit (I think in Washington DC) called Capricebass. And last, but not least... there was a movie made back in the '60's with Doris Day, called 'Caprice'. I'm rather surprised I didn't know about this last one, my mother was a huge Doris Day fan, but she never said that I was named after that movie.
And of course, there's the obvious Chevrolet Caprice, and the model Caprice Bourret.

Ok, I'm done talking about me now.

Here's an article for all you gamers. This is from PC World.
(Note: If you aren't interested, just skip down to the next horizontal rule.)

Microsoft Readies Two Versions of the Xbox 360

Gaming console will be available in a $300 basic edition and a $400 premium edition.

Martyn Williams, IDG News Service
Wednesday, August 17, 2005
Microsoft's Xbox 360 will be available in two versions costing $300 and $400 when it is launched later this year, the company says.

The announcement, which was made at the Games Convention event in Leipzig, Germany, fills in one of the last and most important pieces of information about the console.

Capable of high-definition video, the Xbox 360 is considerably more powerful than any gaming console available at present. At a recent event in Tokyo the company showed previews of several Xbox 360 games and all featured stunning graphics that bring a new level of realism to computer gaming.

At the heart of the console will be a three-core Power PC chip custom-produced for the console by IBM and a graphics chip from ATI Technologies. It also has a 12X dual-layer DVD-ROM drive and the more expensive version includes a 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, headset, ethernet cable, and wireless remote control.

All of the accessories included in the pricier package, dubbed the premium edition, will also be available as individual add-ons to the basic system.

Waiting for a Launch Date
With the major specifications and the price set, the only other big announcement awaited from Microsoft is the actual launch date. It's promised to put the Xbox 360 on sale in North America, Europe, and Japan before the end of this year. Japanese pricing details will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show next month.

That launch schedule should put the console in the shops several months before Sony Computer Entertainment launches its PlayStation 3 console. The PlayStation 3 has an equally impressive specification sheet that includes an eight-core processor that boasts a total performance of 218G FLOPS (floating point operations per second)--35 times the performance of the PlayStation 2.

Combined with an Nvidia graphics system, the Sony console should pack about double the power of the Xbox 360, although how much of that can be translated into a better gaming experience will depend on the game programmers.

Moving towards launch, Microsoft also announced it has lined up three companies to manufacture the console. They are Singapore's Flextronics International and Taiwan's Wistron, both of which produce the current-generation Xbox console, and Canada's Celestica. All three companies will produce the Xbox 360 at their respective factories in China, Microsoft says.

This is my horoscope today. The reason I am putting it on here is because it reminds me of something.

~Scorpio
October 23 - November 21
"Try to see the lighter side of things, dear Scorpio. This may be difficult, since your emotions may be taking on a war-like quality, and you will feel the urge to dominate in every situation. Try to focus your energy into positive channels, and work to make the best of every situation. Much of the drama you are enveloped in is created by your own imagination. You are probably making mountains out of molehills."

Ok, for those of you who caught my post last week about getting a mole removed. And it reminds me of one of my favorite episodes of Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Hillary was being judgmental about a guy who had a mole on his face, and Will says to her, "You're making a mountain out of a mole, Hill!"
I just got the biggest kick out of that episode. And of course I can relate.

And now, PepperPippin wanted jokes. So, I ran across this one and thought I'd share it with you all.
Joke of the day

Bill and Hillary

Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton were at a Yankees game. Before the game began a secret service man came up to him and whispered in his ear. Bill Clinton suddenly picked up Hillary and threw her out on the field. The secret service man came running up to him and said, "Mr. President Sir, I think you misunderstood me, I said throw out the first pitch."

Ok, I'm done now. Wow, that was a long post!

Take care everyone!

Well, today was pretty much the same as yesterday. I have been playing with web pages again. It's amazing, but I have found that I actually learn something new everyday.

And then I go and do something really stupid...

Ok, have you ever had one of those moments where you had a problem that you just couldn't seem to fix, and you got really frustrated with it? Then it turns out it wasn't really a problem, just something you overlooked?
Well, I had one of those moments today. I'm not sure if I want to share it or not because I feel really silly for it. But I'll tell ya anyway. If nothing else, atleast you'll get a good laugh out of it.

Ok, so I'm messing around with my site on here and I have MSN Explorer open, Internet Explorer, and Netscape. Well, at some point I had noticed that the links for "Add me as a friend" and "Private message me" weren't on either IE or NS, only on MSN Explorer. I wanted to fix it. I viewed the source code for all of them, and they were gone on both of those even in the code, but not in MSN. I tried undoing all of the really cool stuff that I've done to my site, and nothing was working. I kept changing around my external style sheet, and re-uploading it, but nothing was working. Well, to make a long story short, I ended up closing MSN because it was working, and concentrated on IE and NS. I got it to work on IE (It hadn't quite sunk in why yet). So, I closed IE. Then I fiddled with NS a bit and I reopened it and signed in, and low-and-behold, the links were there. Well, it didn't take me long to figure out that the reason it did that is because I was not actually signed into myOtaku on those two from the beginning. You have to be signed in to see those links... duh! o_0

Ok, now that you've gotten your laugh for the day.

Here's a cute pic for anyone who has ever felt like this...

Well, that's all for today.
Take care!

Absolutely nothing happened today.

I worked on a page today, it turned out really cool.

Blah!...I'm just not coming up with anything to say here. It was a rather uneventful day. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I'm gonna end with a pic...

Take care!
