Yeesh... o.O
I'm going to shop around for bargain anime and manga tomorrow ^___^ Which is a happy thing. It's a nice, happy thought. A nice, happy, -safe- thought.
And I can really use some of those right now, because there are some things I don't wanna think about, and one of them is why Mindy's roommate might be making those kinds of noises.
Ok. I know why. I just don't wanna think about why. Y'know, should I ever move to an apartment like this, with so many other people sharing it with me, I think I'll have an agreement (written) with them beforehand that they go elsewhere to do that kind of stuff!
Maybe I'm just easily embarrassed. I dunno. But... yeeps.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll have more stuff to tell you tomorrow. Hopefully about anime and manga, and not about roommates who are VERY LOUD when they are... *ahem* enjoying themselves. Comments (0) |

ReBirth is... now.
I'm back. Yeah, a year and three month hiatus with no reason for it is pretty bad. But I have no excuses. *shrugs* The only thing I can do now is come back and beg everyone's forgiveness.
I'm trying to do better, and most all of the sites I've dropped I'm trying to pick back up- with the exception (unless I get up the nerve) of deviantart. That one would be... painful. I had so many close friends on there, and I haven't even spoken to them once in probably four years.
I'm a horrible person in some regards, and that's one of them.
But this is the beginning of me actually reading posts and commenting again. I won't promise it'll be often- I've still got things like work and college. But I'll attempt not to leave for more than a few days at a time.
Also, I'm still toying around with the new TheO. I'm not sure whether that might become my favorite child or not ^_~
o.o X-mas Subliminal Messaging?
By now the X-mas music has started at the malls, or it has here in America. I don't know about anywhere else. And let me tell you, I'll heard enough Jingle Bells to last me a lifetime. I found this site that makes me think that Christmas carols might be evil! First, it'll play a part of Jingle Bells normally. Then it plays the same part again, in reverse. Listen closely and tell me what you hear.
In other news... I'm behind on almost all my- no, wait. I am behind on all my schoolwork. They all want big papers and stuff due at the same time. It really sucks. Wish me luck with getting that done -_-;;
Let's see. I've been playing a new video game (well, really, it's an old one. I just got it recently, though) It's called Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. So far, it's been pretty fun. I like the Star Ocean battle system, and they usually have pretty cool characters. My sis and I make it even more fun by perversifying it, which isn't tough. I mean, when two guys are standing there and one is looking down at the other's butt and saying something about, "The view is nice," you just gotta wonder.
Anyway, that's about it. School, work, and video games. Oh, and some manga. Not much else. *shrug* Such is the life of a warrior- er. College student.
Anime Review!
If you don't feel like listening to me rant about an anime, don't bother reading this post. I'll update with stuff that's going on in my actual life sometime later, but I figured if I'm gonna be switching my site around, I may as well give some info on the series.
Koko wa Greenwood, or Here is Greenwood
An 11 volume (so I've been told) manga series by Yukie Nasu, adapted into a 6 episode OVA. As far as I can tell the anime is actually a collection of episodes from the manga, but without all the details and in-between bits.
Kazuya Hasukawa is an orphan. His only relative, his brother, had raised him. Unfortunately, that brother has just married Kazuya's first love! Unable to stand living in their 'love nest', Kazuya enters Ryokuto Academy. He takes up residence in Ryokurin Hall- but it's better known as 'Greenwood'. Greenwood is home to all the social outcasts of Ryokuto, it seems. There's the religious cult, the man who lives with his motorcycle, the computer geeks who have turned their room into an arcade, and, perhaps the two strangest residents, Shinobu Tezuka and Mitsuru Ikeda, the class president and dorm head, respectively. These two upperclassmen show Kazuya a warm welcome- by informing him that he'll be rooming with Shun Kisaragi, a girl who, for her own reasons, has disguised herself as a boy.
The characters in this series are unbelievably funny and endearing. There's Shinobu, the cold, intelligent one who seems to be so serious that it catches you off guard when he pulls one (or several) over on Kazuya. The handsome Mitsuru (who happens to be my avatar) seems to live to torment Kazuya as well, whether it be by practical jokes or stealing the food off his plate. And Shun is one of the only characters I've ever seen that can pull off the hyper, chipper, ever optimistic attitude without annoying the hell out of me.
What really, really surprised me was the anime's dubbing (the first dub, anyway. I think it's been dubbed twice by different companies). I wasn't expecting such an old anime to have a very good voiceover, but it really does. The voices fit the characters, and while there are some bits that might have been done better, I was very pleased overall. Good thing, too, because it's on VHS, and I can't switch to Japanese. I told you it was old.
The manga, just because of the added amount of storyline and laugh-out-loud bits, is better, in my opinion. Things are better explained. Plus, some of the moments are absolutely priceless.
If you're still around, I thank you for your patience, and I give you my- er, well, I won't give you my word that I'll update, because I'm gonna be freak of some busy with schoolwork this week, but I will try. If I have time. If I haven't gone and thrown myself in the river because of all the research and crap I'm supposed to be doing.
Wish me luck ^^;;;
Edit: BTW, I know I'm randomly changing my site around, and I know that's kind of strange for me. usually, I keep the same kind of site forever, but I've decided that if I get into a series, I can go ahead and switch it for awhile, and go back to an old favorite when I feel like it. Change is good every now and then ^_^ Comments (8) |

AMV Time!
I've made my first AMV! Well, sorta. I just compiled clips out of this thing I found entitled 'AMV Hell III: the Motion Picture". It's over and hour long, and funny as hell. I don't take any credit for anything in this video except for the compiling of it.
I'm dedicating this clip to a Darke Angel. The Eva and Azumanga clips reminded me of you ^_~, and I thought you might like a pick-me-up. Hope you like it!
^_^v
My manager's been at a seminar the past week, and she came back with presents! Along with quite a few other books, she brought back manga (well, novels, really, but you know what I mean) for me. She had made little bag/kit things for all of us, of stuff she thought we'd like. I haven't managed to read any of it yet, but I've got Scrapped Princess, Magic Moon, Witches' Forest, and Kino no Tabi.
Then we stocked some manga today. We have art books now, too- Fushigi Yugi (^_^), Fullmetal Alchemist(^__^), and one Evangelion (^___^).
We worked til 1 am today, after all the customers left and stuff. Everyone is crazy when there are no customers. We put out books and talked, and the later it got, the crazier it got. By midnight, we were giggling over the sex books. It was mostly Matt's fault (anyone who knows Matt knows it's his fault- unless Phil did it ^_~).
Matt was flipping through one of the naughty books and just suddenly yelled, "Hey, that's not a harmonica!"- which isn't something you usually yell when reading a book like that. I hope, anyway. So me and the two other girls turned around, saw the title of the book he was reading (Great Sex Techniques) and we were like, "o.O;; What the hell?!"
Other memorable quotes:
"That doesn't go there!" (from Matt, when I thought he was talking about a sex book and he was just talking about a book in the wrong place on the shelf)
"Am I patting your leg too much?"
"Mike brought us some pocko at the seminar"(Pock-o, she said, not pocky. And am I spelling that right? It looks wrong)
"They sold the concession stand to Satan."
Toward the end of the night, we played the Time Warp, and Matt danced. If you have never seen someone doing the Time Warp, you're missing out!
Cute boys and teachers' tits
Quite a bit has happened since my chicken incident. First off, I got a job at our bookstore, so I'm pretty happy. So far it's been great (though I'm still just being trained). I get twenty percent off of everything (which means I get a discount on my manga). And I have access to books as soon as they come out, too ^_^ Plus the people there are all easy to get along with.
But I'm going to shut up about my job now, before I make Darke-kun jealous ^^;;
In other news...
There are two cute boys in my room at the moment. One's black, the other is white, and they've been sleeping together for the past two days. The black one is eating Cheerios right now. The white one is still asleep.
...
Okay, okay, they aren't human boys. They're mice, and yes, they are pets. Trust me, wild mice would not do well in this house of cats. Don't ask me what possessed me. I saw them at the pet store about a week ago, and decided I wanted them. They are very cute. They won't let me pet them yet, though v.v ...
Let me go back to the subject of work for just a minute. It was my second day today, and I've already embarrassed the hell out of myself.
See, this man and his hispanic wife and kids were looking for workbooks to go along with homeschooling their kids, so I was doing my best to help them. I have no idea where much is in the store, but I managed to find a "Complete Curriculum" book that I pointed out. He looked it over and said, "Does it have a teachers's guide with answers or anything?" So I took the book and looked at the table of contents, and I said, "No, no answer guide. Just some teacher's tits."
Tips. The book had a section of teacher's tips. I don't know what I was thinking- though I had been putting away some books in the erotica section (which, btw, has a growing collection of manga in it) but I wasn't thinking anything like that. Luckily, I don't think the guy really noticed. Kinda strange actually. Normally you can get a guy's full attention if you say that word. *shrugs*
Well, it's 3 am and I'm tired, so I'm just gonna make sure the mice are alright, and that my cats aren't planning on breaking into the cage or anything, and then I'm crashing. Hope you guys are doing alright ^_^ Comments (11) |

A new movie!
Okay. So here's the story...
Strange things happen at college, that's for sure. The one that happened to me was probably one of the most strange, since it didn't involve alcohol or drugs. It did, however, involve chickens.
Well, one chicken. A very persistent one.
I'm was coming out of my literature class. It was 8:30 at night, maybe a little later, and it was a bit of a walk to get to my car. I crossed a half a dozen other parking lots before I got to where my car was parked. I was a few yards away from my car, when I heard a quiet little noise, something like
"Bk-bk-bk bk bk"
Maybe twelve feet away, a small creature is coming towards me, making these noises.
I stop and look. Yes, it's a chicken.
Now, I park rather close to a highway, and I'm very fond of animals. I didn't want the chicken to get squished. So I called up my friend Britty, who keeps chickens, and I ask if she wanted another one.
While I was on the phone the chicken hopped onto the hood of my car. Darned if I know why it liked my car so much. Britty said she couldn't take a strange chicken, because the others would peck it to death. She and her sister suggest I shoo the chicken off the car and just be on my way, and wish it the best of luck.
I got in the car and started it, hoping the noise would scare the chicken off. It didn't. I got out and attempted to physically shoo the chicken off my car. I reached toward it, and it shuffles across to the driver's side. I leaned further over, and it finally hopped down. Mission accomplished.
I then circled back around the car just in time to see the chicken hop into the driver's side seat. I shouldn't have left the door open, I guess, but how was I to know the chicken was gonna jump in?
The chicken settled itself on my emergency brake and sat there, seemingly quite happy.
By now, the humor of the situation was really getting to me. I carefully sat down in the driver's seat and closed the door. The chicken didn't seem to mind me being so close to it. It even let me pet it! I had to tell someone, so I called my parents, who laughed their arses off after finally deciding to believe me, and then I call Mindy, who practically exploded.
"There's a chicken in your car?! Why do you have a chicken in your car when you're supposed to be in class?!"
After which she took my point of view, of not wanting it to get hurt. Unfortunately, my parents had already told me to shoo it away as well, and I was afraid they'd be upset if I came home with it after that. So I was left with the problem- what now?
In the end, I decided that I could probably drive further into the campus to release the chicken. The chicken hopped onto my dashboard as I started the car and it sat very calmy off to the side while I drove around campus, looking for a nice, chicken-friendly area away from highways to let the thing go in.
After passing the field with the huge white cat in it, I parked and tried to pick the chicken up. It didn't seem to mind until its feet came off the ground, at which point it freaked and got away from me. It fluttered into my backseat, so I crawled in and tried gently shooing the chicken out. At one point it almost fell out, but then it jumped back in and settled itself under me (I was leaning over toward the opposite door).
I felt so bad for it. It was pretty cold outside, and I didn't blame if for not wanting to spend the night in the cold with the cats near a highway. Still, I eventually got it out of the car. I closed all the doors and started to back out of my parking spot before I realized I couldn't see the chicken.
I got out (being sure to close the door this time) looked around my car. Sure enough, the thing was sitting dead center behind my car. It probably would have let me back over it, too. I chased the thing around to the front of the car, got back in, and started to back out again. This time, it tried to jump back onto the hood. It didn't quite make it, and landed with an annoyed, "Brawk!"
I finally drove away, and the last I saw, it was wandering rather forlornly in the parking lot (it completely ignored the grass and the trees it could have taken shelter in). Left me feeling rather guilty...
Still, it was one of the strangest things that's happened to me. A chicken climbs on my hood, invades my car, and refuses to leave until absolutely forced. And I'm nowhere near a farm- besides, it wasn't really a farm chicken, I think. It was brownish, not white, and way too tame. Whatever the case, I hope it's alright ^^;;
Bizarre...
(BTW, the movie I alluded to in the post title would be "Chicken in a Car". Sorta like "Snakes in a Plane" but not ^_~) Comments (7) |

Just randomly posting
There's a lot of anime on my TV recently...
We have some kind of special cable thing hooked up to our downstairs TV, and I was flipping through the channels (all 700 of them). I've got Peacemake and Chrno Crusade on one channel (Mitzy and I watched that) and then tonight I found Mirage of Blaze on another one. Who woulda thunk it? It does suck that I work on the day the new episode of Chrno Crusade airs, but I'm sure it'll replay.
I spent the weekend at Mitzy's house, playing around on my laptop and watching aforementioned anime. I finally got back today and had a job interview at the bookstore. I'm sure I've mentioned this place before. I love it to death. Wish me luck ^_^v
I also had class tonight (Sociology) and we were talking about types of suicide, or reasons for it. There's egoistic, altruistic, fatalistic, and anomic. However, our teacher can't read his own writing, apparently, so the word looked like anomie suicide, which he pronounced 'anime suicide'. I was having a tough time not grinning, lol.
Anyway, that's about it from me. I'll update again later, if I'm awake.
Edit: Erk. I haven't changed my page in forever, and I don't like how it's turned out. My avi in particular is driving me crazy. I intend to change it soon- but first I have to read the first hundred pages of the Hebrew Bible for my Eng. Lit. class v.v Funnnn...
BTW, did anyone notice my mood thingy? I stole it from deviantart ^^;;; Comments (6) |

Don't worry, I'm better than I was in the last post. Mostly, anyway. Work is still a headache and a half. *shrugs* Still ten times better than it was (for now, anyway).
In other news, I'm changing my site around, as you've probably noticed. I'm still working on it- the pic quality and stuff is kinda screwy. Or I think it is; it's tough to tell on this laptop, since the screen is a weird size and it stretches things out of proportion. Anyway, it's not done yet.
The new theme is an anime I've been watching on youtube. It's called Kyou Kara Maou (or any of several nicknames and spelling variations). For those of you who haven't seen it or read it...
Anime Review! Skip to the end if you don't want to bother ^_~
Kyou Kara Maou is a seventy-eight episode anime and a twelve volume novel series (that I wish I could get my hands on).
The basic story is this: Fifteen year old Yuuri is a fairly average kid who plays baseball. One day, he sees a group of bullies terrorizing one of his former classmates. After a slight hesitation, he helps the kid out... and gets flushed down a toilet for his trouble.
Yes, our hero gets flushed down a toilet into a different world (sort of like Kagome through the well- except not). Here he finds out that he's supposed to be the new "Maou", the new Demon King.
The cast of characters is as quirky as you can imagine. There's Yuuri, the demon king; Conrad, Yuuri's bodyguard and father figure (also one of the sanest characters); Gwendal, the earth magic (and sewing) master; Gunter, the teacher with questionable intentions (he tries to be a good guy ^_~); Wolfram, Yuuri's possessive fiancee (through a misunderstanding of local customs); and many others.
The plot line is absolutely ridiculous- there's everything from pirates in Sailor Moon type outfits, a sword that bites it's weilder, a mom who's after her own son's fiancee, and there's plenty more I'm forgetting- and that's all in the first eight episodes!
Oddly, though, the plot is easy to get into- you can forget how weird things are if you aren't careful. I was so wrapped up in it, I didn't even notice those pirates were wearing skirts until sometime toward the end of the episode!
In any case, this is one you should definitely try if you want a laugh. ^_^
End Anime Review
Now that I've ranted, I'll go work on my site a bit more. Take care, guys! Comments (4) |
