Post From Afar...
They have libraries in England where you can access the internet for free... even if you're a tourist from the Cinq kingdom... even if you look like a slightly rumpled nut!
Check out your local library, kids! Fun for all ages, and kittens as well!
Little known fact: They have palm trees in England!
Until then, must continue my mission: to find fluffy kittens, and snoop in 2nd hand book stores!

Casting Call!!
So, I've been thinking about Sailor Moon Live Action, and Gundam Wing Musicals... and today I went to see the second Spiderman movie... The natural birth of this unholy union of thoughts is as follows:
"They keep taking cartoons from my youth and turning them into big hollywood movies..."
"They turn them into live-action movies..."
"With non-foamy monsters, unlike Sailor Moon L.A..."
"And... they could do GIANT ROBOTS!!!!!"
Then all hell broke loose, as I stood up in the theater and screamed, "Why are they wasting money pretending to write dialogue this crappy when these fantastic special effects could be used on GIANT ROBOTS!!!! TROWA LOOSES HIS SHIRT!!!!"
Thankfully, I'm quite short, so everyone could still see over me, and the movie sound was so high that they couldn't hear me yell.
Anyway, I've arrived at a premise:
Gundam Wing Live Action Movie!
(Yeah I know it'll never happen, but here's how it should be if it did.)
2 Things:
1. I'm insisting on growing them up a bit... this is because I'd be a little uncomfortable watching 15-year-old boys run around with no shirts. Sorry to all the perverts, and 15-year-old girls, but I'd prefer them in the 18-25 age group. Plus, let's face it, no government on earth gives billion $$ technology to under-18's, if for no other reason than insurance would be impossible to get.
2. This is fun and fluid! Submit your ideas, tell me what you think. As this things grows, I'll start assembling a picture gallery, and who knows, if the response is good, I'll play with graphics programs and see if that movie can be "made".
And so.
First Cast: Quatre Raberba Winner = Tobey Maguire
Reason: T.M. spends 1/2 of Spiderman 2 almost in, or in tears. Quatre spends 1/2 of Gundam Wing doing the same.
Caveat: Quatre's the easiest for me to cast, since I don't have a huge emotional attachment to him. And if T.M. can keep the body he got for Spiderman, that's extra eye-candy.
Second Cast: Wu Fei Chang = Jet Li
Reason: Why not? I mean, he can play with swords, he can shoot stuff, he's pretty and short, and it can't be that hard to play the guy that doesn't get along with anyone.
Caveat: I though of this while watching the movie. I was bored. He's way too old, but what the heck, tell me who you'd prefer.
So far that's all I've got. Please, add to the list! I especially want submissions for Trowa look-alikes, and Duo... that's the hardest I think. The Absolutely-Perfect-Face and the WiseAss-Cute-Funny-Creepy ... gonna need help with those.
Post, post, post!!!

It's Shoujo... More Addictive Than Crack!
I've been watching the Sailor Moon Live-Action series, currently on tv in Japan, and available fan-subbed by TV-Nihon At first, I thought it would scare me or suck... but I stuck with it, and ...
It gets cooler with each episode.
In some ways it departs from the original Manga, and yet in other ways it returns to it in places where the anime departed. Really, it's not a re-make at all, but a re-vision of what Naoko Takeuchi was originally trying to do -- make a series for girls, about girls. I'm not a girly-girl, and I hate pink with a passion bordering on malice, but this series has grown on me.
That being said, some guys will feel uncomfortable watching this. There's a lot of junior-high girls running around in short skirts, and creepy foam monsters, at least in the beginning. But, please, stick with it. As the series progresses, it grows up, and explores the characters in ways that they just don't get in the original anime... specifically the Shittenou (4 kings) Zoicite, Nephrite, Jedite and Kunzite. They have motivation, personality and history, instead of being Boss-Fight-Bad-Guy.
That, and Kunzite is hot. So's Zoicite. I'm sure Nephrite will have his fans, but give me the hot guy with a sword or the piano player any day. What, did you think I was into Gundam Wing for the mechanics? ...Actually, I do like giant robots, but that's besides the point.
(I feel the need to point out here that the live-action returns to the manga...Zoicite and Kunsite were NOT GAY in tha manga... an important plot point, since in the ancient Moon Kingdom the 4 kings were lovers of their equivalent 4 Sailor Soldiers. Though Zoicite did still cross-dress. Don't ask me, it's Naoko Takeuchi.)
So, anyway. TV-Nihon is up to episode 38. I recommend starting at the beginning if you can handle the candy-floss and pop-corn dispensers in their secret hide out. If you can't, pick one in the middle, but you're missing out on some serious laughing at foam monsters.
It's fun, it's fast, it's got 5 attractive young men, and it has a wonderful way of pulling you along. Try it, it's Shojo... it's Better Than Crack!

Amazingly Fantastic
Gundam Wing Musical!
(...CB listens to audience laughing their pants off. See comments on previous post for history of this idea...)
I admit, I've been hitting the NyQuil pretty hard lately, but this idea has merit. Have you seen the Sailor Moon Live-Action Musicals? They showed up on alt.binaries.multimedia.sailormoon a few months back, sorry, I don't know who posted them. But they were live-action, song-and-dance shows, generally storys that ran parallel to the series. That is to say, you could sort of fit them in to the plot, but you didn't have to.
Given the vast array of Gundam Wing Doujinshi, material for the plot of a musical wouldn't be hard to find. Given the equally plentiful nature of song/soundtracks for the series, musical inspiration wouldn't be hard to get either.
I know I'm not the only girl who wants to hear Trowa sing "Doukeshi" / "Clown" live.
Please, give me a moment to wipe my tears... or is that drool? Hmm... it must be lunchtime.
On that note, places to go, cats to hide from. Ideas? Comments? Think I'm out of my gourd? Don't hold back, tell me what you really feel!!

Sorewa himitsu desu.
Shhh... c'mere. I want to tell you a secret!
Since Raven-sama posted a fanart of herself, I've been wanting to speak up that I did a sneaky version of the same.
"But, CB, all your pictures are of guys(*^_^*). Aren't you a girl?"
Yes, yes I am. But I'm a pretty vague artist, and to quote my brother, his words, not mine, "Duo's a pretty girly guy." Those are his words, kids, I think Duo's just fine the way he is...kawaii~~~
I'm off digressing again. The point is, Duo (No Coffee) (dear lord I hope that link works) actually began life as a pencil and paper self-portrait I did infront of a mirror. The original p&p pre-sketch looks a lot different... uh, you can see the lines in it where I sort of altered the ... uh... gendery bits... in the chestological region. Not that there was much to alter. Suffice to say, it's been redrawn, what remains is the pose and the hair.
Yes, my hair is long; not 3 feet, I admit, but sometimes I know I need a haircut because I sit on it. It's handy when I need my head kept warm.
So, the sad secret? I got hooked on Gundam Wing because my brother sez to me, "CB, you've got to see this. There's a chick here who looks like you, and she's got a giant robot!"
"Yippee!" sez CB
"No, wait" sez Big Brother...."that's not a chick."
And I've been hooked ever since. I mean, hey, it's not every day that you get that kind of comedy in your life for free.

Big N, little y, big Freaking Q
Well, kids, it's that time again.
It's been a whole week of self-enforced shift-work... I haven't been able to sleep until 5am. So, here I sit, downing shots of NyQuil, and typing benign rhetoric into a box.
Welcome to my box.
I'd like to point out that I don't suffer from insomnia. I treasure each empty, bitter hour it adds to my life. When I look out the kitchen window at 3am, and see the gentle mists rising from the sewer grates, all I can think is, "How beautiful life is. Wouldn't this be a lovely time to get my grocery shopping done?"
But I CAN'T. Because there's no Grocery Store open at 3am. In fact, all sane, working people are asleep at that time of night!
But I digress. The real point here is, if I had a clean Gundam doujinshi to read, I would. And if I had a kitten, I would pet it. But I'm all out of Gundam, and my cat is old, fat, and eats people.
Apart from that, everything is coming up roses.
Pass me that NyQuil. I think I'm starting to be able to move the Jewels with my mind!

How, in a well organised universe?
It's come to my attention that this site has had 100 hits... This seems somehow unbelievable to me. But on that small and fluffy note, thanks everyone.
So if you're looking for some entertainment here's a comic about a girl and her cat...
This Comic Does Not Exist, though that's actually a lie. Hope you like it!

Tastey Toes
The cat hides amongst the pillows
Like a shark amidst the reefs,
A crocodile within the lillies
With a lot of pointy teeth...
The feet come in, unknowingly,
Upon the stalking place.
The prey! A leap, a flash of fur
A smile upon its face...
The feet must flee upon the fear
Of this unprovoked raid -
Run fast unto the bathroom doors
And find a new Band-Aid.
