New Poem; Writen:5/22/06::
Stargirl


I read this book one day
It was about a girl who was different from all the rest
She was new
She was unique
She was out of this world
When I read it sounded so familiar
I felt like I had read it before
The girl was different from them
She didn’t care what people thought
She didn’t think about what she looked like
She didn’t care about what others thought of her
She just lived
She just lived with not a single care
She didn’t dress like everyone else
She didn’t try to fit in
She actually try to stand out
People stared but she didn’t notice
They wondered why
Why did she not care?
Why did she not think the way they did?
She stood out in the crowd
People began to reject her
Think as if she were some alien invading the Earth
People began to judge
They put her out of the file called “normal”
They was considered her as “weird”
But she kept going
Not paying the least bit of attention
Not showing any sign of sadness,
Of fear
Of disappointment
When someone said something to her
Said something insulting she just pasted it by
Not at the least bit did she acknowledge their words
It didn’t hurt
She didn’t feel the pain
She didn’t care
And then I remembered
She was just like me
I don’t care what people think
I don’t have a care in the world if someone doesn’t like my dress
If someone asks why I don’t blend in I ask why they do
Why?
Why are they blending in?
Why don’t they try something new?
Why are they wearing jeans and a shirt like everyone else
It doesn’t make sense to them
It doesn’t make sense to me
But does it have to make sense?
Do I have to look like everyone else
No
I can do whatever I want
Creativity is my way
If you don’t like it that’s ok
You can say what you want but all that matters to me is what I like
If I don’t want to wear make-up that’s ok
I don’t have to paint my nails and wear what they wear
I don’t have to act like they do
This is my life
I can do with it as I please
So share your opinion but it won’t make a difference
I am the Stargirl of my life
I stand out and that’s not hurting anyone
So go ahead and stare but it won’t make a difference
Because I am me
