Chapter 2
Shirahime-san wakes at around 2PM. She is quite surprised to see that she and her entire bed are covered in blood, as she has no memory of the night before. Well, technically she has some memory of it, but none that she can make any sense out of. She can remember something black, slashing at her, then suddenly, Hatori-san stepped in, and…well, it is all in and out of blackness from there.
A few minutes later, Kyo wakes up. “Shirahime-san! You’re awake! ^__^” He nudges Hatori-san. “Hatori-sama! She’s up! She’s ok!”
Hatori-san glances at Shirahime. He smiles but says nothing. Shirahime-san looks confused. “Is something wrong Hatori-san?” she asks. His eyes are full of regret, but he puts his worries to one side. “Shirahime-san, you have no recollection of what happened to you, do you? Of how you ended up like this?” She concentrates hard, her face full of seriousness. “I can remember…bits and pieces.” “But you don’t know what happened exactly, what did this to you?” Hatori prods. “No,” Shirahime answers, tearing up, “I can’t”. Hatori puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Its alright, that’s to be expected. I want you to rest today. I have sent for your doctor and he should be here soon. I believe that you will have to spend the week in bed.” Shirahime glances up at Hatori-san. She feels something, briefly but strongly, and feels the need to call out to him for help. She needs to scream, he’s (not Hatori) engulfing her. She needed help, but no one was there. Where was Hatori?
Hatori glances at her, his eyes widening in concern as a look of pain and helplessness crosses her face. Suddenly, the feeling is gone, and she returns to “normal”. “Are you all right Shirahime-san?” Hatori asks. “Yes…I’ll rest…some more.”
As Shirahime turns to continue resting, Hatori nudges Kyo and moves him out of the room. “Kyo-kun, I need you to do something for me.” he begins. “What?” Kyo asks. “I need you to take her out.” Hatori continues. “Nani?!” Kyo asks, blushing violently. “As I suspected, she doesn’t remember a thing. I believe that her memory will return to her slowly, but she needs to get both her physical and emotional strength up before that will happen. If you take her out on dates, she’ll relax and she’ll be more susceptible to her memories coming back to her.” “Oh.” Kyo realizes, looking crestfallen.
“Once you began to build her strength up,” Hatori moves on, “she can return to her side job. She may remember that somewhat. It will earn her money, of course, and hopefully gently help her remember who she really is. Sigh. I still can’t believe the connection was lost. I remember her glory days. *Smiles*”
“Hatori-sama?” Kyo interrupts Hatori-san’s pleasant memory. “What do you mean by side job? What did she do to help her earn enough money to pay for a private doctor? And how would it help her remember who she is?”
“She was a CCA--a professional idol who sings in order to evangelize. If she can just remember her reasons for wanting to follow that career, which are actually the reasons she did so well (don’t take this as a literal truth—its his hypothesis), I believe that she will remember who she really is. After all, those reasons are almost identical to why she became one of Heaven’s Fighters.”
“But why did she fight with you Hatori-sama?” Kyo is left thinking alone, as Hatori-san walks into his office, closes the door, and locks it. The maid comes in to change and wash Shirahime-san’s blood-soaked garments and Kyo realizes that he must spend the day by himself.
==================================Notes on 05/19—don’t think of Hatori and Kyo as super rich, although they do live comfortably and own quite a large home. Also, Kyo is just living with Hatori for a short time. Hatori is a religious man and is quite a shelter-er. So why does Kyo need to be sheltered by him you ask? And what is Hatori’s side job? You’ll find out later or not at all.
