"Damn, girl," Cid proclaimed, staring down at the bottle that was spinning around furiously."Heh, I guess I don't know my own strength," you blushed, pulling your fingers through your hair. After thirteen spins, it finally stopped to land on Cloud Strife, the birthday boy!Cloud looked up at you, his expression impossible to read. You could feel yourself grow nervous and your cheeks began to burn up bright red. Cloud was always such a pessimistic, enigmatic person. What if you did something wrong and he didn't talk to you again? Well, the little amount of talking he did do around you. The thought was bringing you hell.After a short silence, he finally stood up and slowly walked to the closet. You were a bit hesitant to follow, but Tifa gave you a little push with a smile, nearly throwing you into Cloud.He opened the closet and shut the door behind you as you walked in.Neither of you looked at the other as you stood there awkwardly.After a few moments, you decided to say something, but Cloud interupted you."So, I have something that I want to...tell you," he mumbled, looking away from you and hiding behind his hair.You gave him a slightly puzzeled look, "Yeah?""Yeah..."There was an awkward silence between the two of you."So, what did you want to tell me?" you asked, trying to break the silence."Well, I..." he trailed off, his face growing a bit red."Yes?" you egged on, trying to look him in the eyes."I just...I really...like you a lot," he finally answered, trying to read your expression.You weren't sure how to react. You'd had a crush on Chocobo-Head nearly ever since the day you'd first met him."Sorry. Forget that I'd ever said anything," he blurted out, feeling a little stupid."No," you argued, "I don't...want to forget."He looked at you a little surprised, "Huh?""'Cause, I like you a lot, too," you blushed, trying to hide your own flush cheeks.Once you looked back at him in the darkness, the only light coming from the crack under the door, you could've sworn you'd caught him smiling, but it was so dark in the closet that you couldn't have been sure.Just as you were beginning to think about the time, you suddenly felt someone press their lips against yours. Knowing that those lips belonged to Cloud, you leaned into the kiss, your mind overflowing with questions.Did this mean you two were a couple now? Had you brushed your teeth? What was he thinking? What if you were a horrible kisser? What should you do when it's over? Your mind was going crazy with the many wonders it was holding all at once.You could feel his hand gently stoke your spine, while the other pulled softly through your hair. He was so gentle and you could tell he was feeling a little awkward, but you didn't mind. He began pulling you closer to himself in a romantic sense, sending a wave of red through your face. You couldn't help but wrap yourself around him, considering you'd never wanted anything more than to be in his arms. Your kiss was getting more passionate as the seconds passed, but just as things were getting good, Yuffie opened the door, claiming your time had been up, and an uproar of "ooh's" and mock laughter followed from the others.As you both headed back to your places, Cloud grabbed your hand, unwilling to let go, and so you ended up sitting next to him for the rest of the night. Not that you minded, though. You did, afterall, like him a lot. After a few minutes of sitting out, since you were both satisfied with the result of your turn, he squeezed your hand lightly, only enough so that you would know that he had done it at all. You smiled and squeezed back, subconsciously scooting closer to him. You were in utter tranquility."So, now that Reno and Tifa have gone in the closet together, who's next?" Yuffie asked, getting the group ready to continue on with the game.

Afterwards:

The party was now dying down, and everyone was heading home. Before you could make it out the door, Cloud grabbed your hand gently. You turned to look back at him, a little confused. "Uhm, there's something that I wanna ask you," Cloud mumbled with a bright red face, his voice popping once or twice."Yeah?" you asked, growing a little excited.He tried to hide his face behind his hair, but he wasn't doing a very good job."Cloud, I don't think you could look down at the ground any more than you already are," you giggled, the butterflies in your stomach making it impossible for you to control yourself.He looked up at you a little embarrassed. "Uh, oh. Uhm...""So, what were you saying?""Well," he cleared his throat, "I was just wondering if you'd...be my girlfriend or...whatever they call it now..." he trailed off, a little lost for words.Your face held the brightest smile you could manage, bringing a smile to Cloud's lips as well.You nodded, "Of course I will. And don't worry, they still call them boyfriends and girlfriends. And that's a question I'd think Vincent would ask, not you of all people!" you laughed. He laughed along with you."Yeah, I guess it would make more sense coming from Vincent, wouldn't it?"You nodded a little nervously and began looking around the room, wondering what to do next. After a few seconds, Cloud grabbed your hand and placed a piece of paper in your palm. You looked at him a little confused before reading the contents of the paper."It's my cell number-in case you ever want to call me or something," he explained, still unable to control his voice.You smiled before kissing him on the cheek, folding the paper and placing it neatly in your pocket. "You wouldn't mind if I called later tonight, would you?"His face grew flush, "Uh...no! I wouldn't mind."You blushed back. "Alright. Good-night, and happy birthday, Cloud."As you began to walk out the door, he stared at you with an adorable, dumb look on his face. After a few seconds, he smiled, calling, "Thanks," just before you were out of hearing distance.
