boredom
Hung out with old friends today. Nice to see some familiar faces, we hope to see each other much more often :)

I'm bored so I stole this questionnaire.

1. What do you order at starbucks?

Um, a coffee? Don't go often.

2. What's one thing in your closet you can't live without?

Pants. and comfy tee shirts. I'm set for life.

3.What's the one thing most people don't know about you?

Hmm..... I actually can get pretty angry, and it's scary really.... I'm mostly a pretty chill person though, I rarely get mad about things. When I do though.... chairs be flyin LOL. And well, that's pretty much it. Not much to reveal here haha.

4.What's one thing you want to do before you die?

Do something with music, since I'm already trying to do something with art. Don't care to be famous or well known or anything like that, but I want to create a piece that is more than decent, something new and different. I don't care if I have 1 fan, I'm going to make music a part of my life as I am art.

5. What's the one food you can't live without?

Shit, only one? Haha. Chicken and ramen noodles are pretty awesome... and tacos.... hmm... one? This is so hard D: I guess chicken.

6. What quote/phrase do you live your life by?

"Whatever floats your boat." :D

7. I'd had a youtube account since I was 12, but I never really used it until now... only use it to watch videos that are considered too mature like Shin Chan (it is pretty bad lol). The only videos I make are for music.

8.What's your number one most listened to song on itunes?

It changes.

9. What kind of style would you define yourself as having?

Don't-give-a-fuck style. I'm classy.

10.Favorite number?

Don't favorite inanimate things :P

11. Two hobbies?

Art and music, which eventually, hopefully, will become careers.

12. Two pet peeves?

Only two?? Users and abusers.

13. Guilty pleasure?

I don't have guilty pleasures, I like what I like, why should I feel guilty about that? :P

oh yeah, I found this 911 call online, it's pretty hilarious.

iPhone Idiot Calls by kylenw

He got arrested thankfully :P

Classy.
Well, college is going fine so far, got all good grades for midterms. As far as getting a job here, nil. There are seriously no jobs out here. Not even the crappy fast food jobs are opening. I tried getting applications to a few places, they didn't even hand any out because their businesses are in a tight area. It kinda scares my prospects as a future employee, I changed my major to a double in art and psychology and minor in criminal justice, hopefully to get into art therapy or counseling. But we'll see how that goes since there are no jobs in art, teaching has gone to shit as far as jobs go. There's not a huge demand for sciences like anthropology, or chemistry, or even psychology surprisingly... at least in my state.

Michigan is so fucked. We have Detroit, Flint, highest unemployment rate, highest foreclosure, highest infant mortality, highest sexual abuse cases, and now we have this: Michigan Republicans passed an anti-bullying bill creating a special exception for bullies who have "a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction."

So I guess it's okay to bully an Atheist or homosexual because it has moral conviction. Ah, hypocrisy.

If I was religious, I'd think.... believe the REAL God would not do this. A question I would like to ask to those overzealous religious hypocritical hicks is this: Would Jesus bully a kid? No? Well, no fucking bull shit, Sherlock.

Yeah.

I'm totally moving out once I get my degree.

College
Thanks to those of you that read the anime review. I like doing that sort of stuff in my free time, contributing to my beloved anime community y'know ;) whenever I come across a cool anime, I'll write about it if it inspires me to do so. Definitely check out Samurai 7, even buy it if you want, I'll tell you that you won't regret it.

Well, I've officially started college. It's nerve-racking, but at the same time really fun.... definitely not like high school. A lot better than high school but they expect a lot of out of you here. So, I pretty much broke my wallet buying art supplies.... I know they call us starving artists but DAMN I'M GONNA REALLY STARVE LOL soooooo much crap, and textbooks on top of that. The good thing is, that I'm hoping I can keep on going through with the art and I got a laptop. Bad thing is I might not have as much time to come online.... no I won't leave, but I might not be updating or visiting sites as often. I'll be engrossed with a lot of campus activities that will hopefully help me with my future, which is to do something in teaching.

Took me a while to figure it out. Art Ed sounds like a really nice job, but I'm prepared for the economic drags and the fact that teachers aren't exactly a booming field to get into, let alone art teachers. But I guess it's something that I really don't mind.... one of the most stable jobs in art, but gives you a lot of liberty. A few years ago if you asked me about teaching kids I'd be like "lol whut. I'm not going anywhere near those brats, especially those unappreciative high schoolers, why would I want to go through all the shit again?" But I started thinking to myself, volunteering in the area that dealt with kids and thought "You know... it isn't so bad.... I might like this". Especially the little ones, they're tough buggers, but they can be so freakin' adorable... and they love art and painting and all that crap. I mean, they LOVE painting, so it wouldn't be too difficult.... save maybe psychotic parents, but other than that, education might be something I'll be doing.... I remembered all the coolest teachers that I had throughout the school days, and remembered how much they do for their students and how fun they were.

I'll definitely not scream and swear and my students and throw fits like one of my teachers did, who will remain unnamed as of present. Nope, definitely not. I'm pretty chill lol like most art teachers. Don't want kids for myself, but I'm pretty cool with teaching them.

If not, I have back-up plans. Good to have one of those.

So... yup... lots of stuff going on, I have much more to do tomorrow so I'm signing off. Possibly for the week. G'night, and hope y'all have a good one!

Why is six afraid of seven? Because seven will murder your ass.
Murder! This review was originally posted on theO in my world hehe:

Samurai 7

The number 7 holds quite a significance across all cultures, from Shakespeare’s 7 ages of man, The Seventh Seal film (A Swedish film from the 50’s, I recommend watching it), and the religious components from Christianity (7 deadly sins) to Hinduism (chakras) to even Celtic mythology (Cuchulan). Seven days in a week, seven seas, you get the idea. This also holds true to Japanese mythology, such as the 7 kami, or gods of luck. It is also considered a lucky number. They even have a proverb for it :

七転び八起き

Seven fall times, stand up eight. We all share the vicissitudes of life. Oh yeah, here’s my point: Seven Samurais are awesome.

Samurai 7 is an impressive rendering of Akira Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai film from the 1950’s. I watched both the movie and the anime series and I have to say, there’s rarely an anime (or film for that matter) that is poignant in all respects of action, comedy, drama, and tragedy. I’m surprised to find that there isn’t a bigger fan base for it on here.

I was introduced to it by my cousin’s husband who happens to be into anime and has a huge collection of it. He lend me these videos, and I definitely enjoyed them. The anime is slightly different from the movie in the respect that there are mechas anachronistically set in the Sengoku period of Japan, where the future meets the age of the samurai(or the merchant really), but other than that, follows the story line very well. A village is in constant trepidation of a group of bandits that terrorize the peasants, pillaging and raping as they please. The village sick of this decides to hire a group of formidable and highly skilled samurai to protect their village in exchange for payment in rice. Kirara, a water priestess and her sister Komachi along with fellow peasant Rikichi travel to the city to seek out these samurai, and after many letdowns, finally hire 7 of them to do the job: Kanbe (Kambei), the war-seasoned samurai master, Gorobe, a ronin who makes a living as a street performer, Kikuchiyo, an entertaining mechanical samurai, Katsushiro, a young man coming of age as samurai, Shichiroji, Kanbe’s long time buddy and partner in war, Heihachi, an engineer also trained with the art of the sword and Kyuzo, an shrewd and taciturn warrior. They are unique in personality, appealing and sundry, they are all equally loveable characters and I’m sure you’d have a hard time picking out your favorite. They battle it out with the daunting 40 bandits and the emperor in this thrilling series.

It is a great anime that is serious enough for adults to get into as well as young kids. (Well, maybe not too young since there is violence and the language part. ) With atmosphere both heavy and light, the vicissitudes of the plot will keep you on your toes and keep you watching.

Here's episode 1, part 1:

Life so far
Hey, if anyone is still here (being summer and all I don't really expect so lol). Interesting things happened. I passed my driver's test, so I'm happy... took me 4 damn times, but that's because the first two times the lady I had purposely failed me because she was failing everyone to pocket money, among other things she was doing, so they fired her... didn't get no refund >:/ Anywho, currently looking for a car to drive to college, at least under 5 grand or so. That, and something kinda scary happened to me.

The other day I went to the store with my dad to pick up something, but I stayed in the vehicle. A really old fragile man walked out of the bank next door and tripped at least 3 feet off a ledge and fell. I know it doesn't sound that bad, but it was. He was so bloody everywhere, glasses broke, cuts on his head, arms, and knees, I mean the poor guy was hurt and he obviously wasn't in good condition. I was freaking out, and I ran in the bank to have someone call an ambulance since I didn't have a cell on me. I was so scared for him, and was afraid to move him if he broke something, nobody else was around and I didn't know what else to do.. he thanked me and I didn't get his name. I hope he is OK now.

The other bad things is that my mom got really ill a couple days ago. I don't remember if I told anyone this, but a year before she had a tumor. Granted it wasn't cancerous, it was scary since she is plagued with other illnesses. I am a little afraid if something were to happen. I also have siblings whom are special needs, and I couldn't bear what could happen to them if something happened to her... I'd have nothing to support them with.. or maybe I just worry too much.

I am currently in a "band" with a few friends, but I don't know how serious it will be... the bassist isn't very experienced (playing for a few months w/ lessons) and our drummer hasn't played for long nor does he have a teacher or a place to practice, and I've never even met the singer... don't know what will happen, and with college coming up, how long it will last.

I also recorded a little spiel I did.. my first video really. 'twas a month ago and made it up right on the spot, no preparation, completely improvised and freely so there's some mistakes but oh well. Anyone into experimental/jazz music? ;)

Music is truly difficult to create... either I don't have the liberty to sit at the computer for more than 2 hours, contemplating, writing, or I don't know how to go about it. I sometimes have ideas but it never sounds right. I want to create, but my skills are limited to guitar, and there's literally no one in my whole area that wants the same sound I want.... not enough for the vision I want to achieve. I guess I feel I'm not good enough and I have really high standards :/ that's me with everything though, lol.

Eh, right now I'm, guess, listening to music. These Lowlands by Swallow the Sun, a softer, but heavy song with all the emotion of a true musician, at least I feel so. Something I wish I had in me. It may not be music liked by the mainstream, but it affects me.. music has always been a part of myself. Maybe I should start writing again... still can't figure it out.... I'll stop my brooding artist rant now lol.

That's all really, sorry if you had to read that lol. I'm not sad, but I've been thinking a lot.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
Anyone ever heard of this anime? I watched it on the free Funimation OnDemand thing we had before we got rid of it to get back to regular cable. It's about a school where students are separated by grades, A being the greatest and having many benefits, and F being the crappiest with the worst test scores and class. It it mainly centered around Akihisa Yoshii, a boy who has the worst grade in the school and is a bonafide idiot. Oh yeah, there's a catch... the students have little avatar monster things that can battle each other using test scores, kind of like a Digimon or Yugioh type thing. It is strange and nerdy at first, but it is a hilarious anime. All the pervy boy shenanigans, stupidity, and animated comedy-fighting you could want. It's my first anime I've watched in months really, with Hetalia being on hold and Adult Swim sucking at updating their stuff, I found it by chance and hey, give it a shot:

Twilight zone marathon
All day. I absolutely love that show, it's been a tradition of mine for New Years and the Fourth. Had a HUGE bonfire last night, I'm absolutely infatuated with flames. And of course I won't miss any fireworks action, I'm a pyro at heart; but Rod Serling quenches thy heart thereat it desires most. (I need to stop reading Dante Aligheri's The Inferno. But it's so good! (it's my third time reading it)

muahaha, I love fire, explosives, Dante, and entering the fifth dimension of the twilight zone >:D fuck Twilight and Edward Cullen, William Shatner owns all, bitch *flashes gang signs*

So, any plans for you guys this week? :P

college
Finally something relevant. Just registered for classes for fall & winter. I plan on majoring in art but that might change. I'm actually kind of excited, I always thought college was just another year of high school and crap, and at first I didn't even want to go. I figured I'd get a dead end job since I thought college would be more of a drag.... but the classes and people are very interesting and actually care about what they're doing, and it's so much bigger than the little world I lived in. I'm so glad high school is over. The ride was fun but it's not something I care to look back on either. All I need to do is get my license and fill out forms for jobs. I'm not living on campus because it costs too much and it's way easier to commute since I live close by. What are your plans if you're going, or what tips do you have if you already went?
