   Our school's Day of Service
Yesterday, our ENTIRE school had to to some kind of community service, be it cleaning up a park, washing doggies, or "babysitting" old people. Me? I got to clean up near a highway, YAY! (Basically, we were just weed-whacking and sweeping up after the debree.)

After we were finished with our job, my group all went back to sit near the baseball field we were right next to, to wait for the bus. (The entire school had to sign up for one of these things, which is how we were broken up into groups.)

Now, y'all remember that throat thing? I've been taking the pills to control acid reflux, and it seems to be working. How can I tell? Because I haven't run in two years, since JOGGING caused a searing pain in my throat. Yesterday, I raced three times (short races, but I ran nonetheless), and there wasn't a SEARING burning. It was still there, but it wasn't unbearable.

So, I raced around the baseball field with two other boys. Now, I'm REAAALLY out of shape, remember. (I used to be fast in middle school, but when this acid reflux hit, I ran less and less, and lost speed.) Yet I was still able to tie with Malik. Now, either he's really slow, or I've got more willpower than I thought, haha!

The funny part about that race was, Anthony, the other boy racing, was trying to stop Malik from coming in between me and Anthony to pull ahead. (I wasn't using any strategy, I was just trying to focus on not falling on my face.) Eventually, Malik DID pull ahead of Anthony. Anthony just yelled "NOOOOOO!!" and..kinda TRIPPED himself, so he just sprawled out over the groung. Malik and I made it back to home at the exact same time, and turned around to see Anthony all spread out on the ground. We were laaughing....

I also found a bunch of baseballs while we were cleaning up, so I took one, and BEFORE the race, we were playing with it. I'm ambidextrous, and I learned to throw and catch right-handed, so I usually don't use my left in sports. I COULD, I just usually DON'T.

Little tidbit of advice: NEVER catch a baseball without a mit. If it was thrown slowly and over a short distance, your fine. But from the pitcher's mound to second base? OW.

It smacked RIGHT into the part of my hand where the skin's been ripped off twice already. (My hands are already pretty sensitive to pain. The rest of me's tougher, like my arms or my feet, but with my hands, I can REALLY feel the pain.) So obviously, I dropped the ball, and hopped around, clutching my wrist....and LAUGHING.

I always laugh when I get a minor to moderate injury. I dunno why. Probably because it's so funny that I keep getting hurt. Ehdonno, something about constantly being injured amuses me. :P

So then, I had to start throwing and catching with my left hand. And the thing is, I could never throw straight with my left. (Odd, you'd think I could being left-handed.) But somehow, I was able to throw properly with my left. o_O Weird....

We also played this game to see who could throw the farthest. Dyrol's throw went FAAAR. He got first place. Malik's was a few feet short of Dyrol's, and Anthony's was around the same as Malik's. Mine? Weell, the only bit of strength I have in my arms is just sheer willpower. I have no muscle. And I had a small dilemma: throw it left-handed, or right?

With my right, it was still really sore at the time. (There's a bruise forming.) With my LEFT, however, I'm not as practised with throwing with that arm. I ended up throwing wiht my right, and I didn't even make it past second base, like the others did. The freshman who was playing as well threw it so it landed even shorter than mine, so at least I wasn't in last place, haha!

We also played "Spider-Man". What we did was we climbed up the fence, and whoever made it the highest won. I had to take of my shoes, because my feet are big, and the shoes wouldn't fit into the holes. I should've worn the gloves when I climbed, because remember, they are very sensitive to pain. I ended up being one of the ones who climbed the highest, though. (I don't play Spider-Girl in my roleplay for NUTTIN'! :P)

I didn't climb back down, though. I just let go of the fence, and made a very Inu-Yasha-esque landing.

I look by my foot, and see a HUGE rock.

BOY, was I lucky to have missed that....

I've noticed it's more fun to play with boys. They aren't afraid of doing something really stupid to have fun. (A safe stupid, in this case. Well, for the most part. :P) The majority of girls, on the other hand, think the stupid stuff is, well, stupid, and boring. But it's SO MUCH FRACKING FUN, haha!!! All the girls in the group just sat around, chatting about whatever, while we went out there and had some great fun. Not saying sitting around and chatting can't be fun, but...

Well, basically, I'm saying girls can be wussies sometimes. "OMG, THERE'S A BEE! RUN AWAY!!" "Ewwww, I don't wanna cut the grass! It has bugs in it!" "Y'all are getting all dirty out there, doesn't that bug ya?" we among the few things I heard. -_-; Oi to the vey......

I'm such a boyish girl, lawl!
