My Avatar

Hello. My name is Chris Winters (but I’m almost Chris Nielsen!). I’m a High School English teacher… and I pretty much started this account because some of my students were talking about this site and, well, I was supposed to be grading tests but I got bored, okay? So, here are the basics.
-As stated before, I AM AN ENGLISH TEACHER. So, when you’re talking to me, use your English. No ‘txt tlk’.
-I’m gay, and I have a *fiancé* who I’m gonna love forever and ever, his name is Jake, and he’s mine. (A run-on sentence! Gasp. I disappoint myself sometimes.)
-I’m not a huge anime fan, but I’m in charge of the school’s anime club so I might know a teeny weeny something (Okay, probably a big something. I lied about not being a huge anime fan. I’m almost at the point of obsession.)
-I’m 30, so I’m really, really old. Don’t make fun of me.
-I’ve hit a point where I’m freakishly into Techno music. Weird, right?
-You don’t have to tell me I’m horrible at blogging and all that other good fun stuff. I already know. (Jake’s kid from his previous marriage is in second grade and she already knows that I’m terrible at it.)
-Oh yeah, Jake has a daughter from his previous marriage… to a woman. (*cringe*) His daughter’s name is Chloe, and I think she’s starting to catch on to the fact that it isn’t one of society’s accepted norms to have two guys living together.
-I like cupcakes and rainbows. (Yeah, that’s my random fact. Enjoy knowing it.)
You can call me Mr. Winters if you want to because that’s what teenagers normally call me (but it wouldn’t hurt to call me Chris because Mr. Winters sounds so…old.)

Ha, I forgot about this site.
I was sitting in bed grading papers and I suddenly remembered this place. I don't know if anyone I talked to is still on it, but just in case-

I'm married now. I adopted Chloe. I'm still teaching High School English. I patched things up with Amy and Jake's parents.

That's all, I suppose.

I've been much too busy to use the internet lately... It's really a shame because going online counts as downtime for me and knowing that I can't take five minutes for it is a real drag.

A couple days before Christmas I was sitting at home watching TV and my cell phone rang. It was Jake's mother, which is unusal because she hates me and thus would never call me unless something was wrong. As it turns out, she was at the airport in Providence. She'd flown in to surprise Jake and Chloe, and after she landed she thought to call me and make a negotiation.
"Pretend to like me and I'll pretend to like you."
were her exact words. Since no one wanted Chloe to see her and I fighting, I agreed. I'm not even going to go into how horrible my Christmas was.

Jake decided to go to Times Square on New Year's Eve about three days before the event came around. Chloe got really excited because watching the ball drop on TV must be the highlight of her year... I don't exactly know why, but she adores it. So we went, and it was, excuse my French, fucking awesome. It was so late by the time we decided to leave that we just decided to go to a hotel and drive back the next morning (ie: today).

Well, school starts up again next Monday. I'm really not looking forward to all that work after a vacation. Oh well, I guess I have to, don't I?

Well, that's all. I hope you enjoyed the holidays.

So, one of the only interesting teachers in the entire school is getting laid off. She's literally the only member of staff who could uphold an interesting conversation, and she's not coming back after winter break. Hooray.

I had to take my advisory group (a group of students I have to meet with every day or so to do... nothing. It's just a time waster, but if they have any actual questions I'm supposed to be able to answer them) to lunch today. Of course, I can't go and bug Jake at his restauraunt because it's too far away, so we had to go to (gag) Bertucci's. I hate that place. Can you imagine trying to have 8 high schoolers in a restauraunt without being a distrubance? It's damn near impossible. They broke a plate, started yelling, one of them was running around... Jesus Christ I was ready to kill them. Ah, it least it was only for 2 hours, which, now that I think about it, IS A DAMN LONG TIME.

Have a nice day.

Today I am officially 30 years old, which is absolutely horrific. This is the first time in a decade I haven’t been able to truthfully say that I’m in my 20s, which I hate, because ‘in his 20s’ doesn’t sound quite so old as ‘just turned 30’. Jake is extremely excited over this because it’s a great opportunity for him to cook a huge meal and then bake a cake, which is one of his main pleasures in life (I suppose that’s why he owns a restaurant), even if I don’t eat very much.

I ate ice cream for breakfast this morning.

There’s school starts late today due to ice on the roads, so I’m sitting with my laptop on the kitchen counter watching Chloe eat breakfast in the next room. Jake already left for work of course, but his poor kid and I have to just sit around the house for another fifteen minutes or so. How will we ever manage? Ha, I don’t want to try to drive to the elementary school today because it’s too far away for my tastes, and then I have to get to the high school, which is on the other side of town. I guess the roads might be kind of slippery, so I’ll have to drive slowly. I should get going now.

Have a nice day, everyone.
