James 8.

The wagon was on its way through the wood as a young blond woman brushed her hair gently with the soft tip of her fingers giving the warm touch that made her smile for a faint second. Then she glanced at a wounded man in the back.

Why did you risk your life for me, asked the woman in confusion and looking back at the driver of the wagon.

The old rags he wore had suddenly changed from being poor and untidy to being posh and very expensive. His pipe had stayed the same though as another puff of smoke blew back into her face. He held on to his shotgun as tight as he could and peered strictly encase of another encounter with savage beasts.

“So,” asked Julie watching James Strakeln still bleeding and snoring out like a pig, “who exactly are you?”

The man squinted (as Julie could not see his face she did not realise it) and said, “Well, my names Chris. I heard that there were suppose to be a bloke that should be doing a serious job. I don’t think you might know them?” he asked as Julie paused with her mouth wide open like a goldfish as she went to speak. She got rudely interrupted by a loud snore from the back of the wagon. James mouth open and then closed as he moved slightly other to the left cringing in pain.

“I can tell that your friend is definitely alive,” said Chris keeping his voice down making sure that he could only be heard by Julie and not wake James up.

About half an hour later a large groaning noise came from the back of the wagon again. Julie turned around to look at james and noticed that he was still asleep. She ingored the noises of anguish and carried on talking to the driver or rather the man that James is going to work for. As Julie turned away James opened and eye and looked deep for his sword without making a sound. Another loud groan again but was now sounding even closer than before and also more to the side of the wagon.

Julie shivered as a cold breeze gently cooled her back as she lifted her arms and cuddled her self with warmth. Chris gave her a blanket as he held on to a pistol in his left hand and his shotgun in his right. He looked straight forward as Julie’s head turned from one side of the wagon to the other as yet another groan was let off.

“James will you stop...” shouted Julie as she turned to be shouting at nothing. The back of the wagon was empty and the blood had trailed more across to the woodland area as now the sounds were made closer and closer and the sound of swift heavy feet could be heard running across dead leaves on the horizon.

Julie could just hear the faint sound of a panting slowly catching up as it stopped for about three seconds. Chris stopped the wagon as Julie tried not to shout at him and tried not to make any sudden movements.

“Chris. There’s something in the woods,” she whispered to Chris whom looked up at her and gave a nod to tell her that he knew. He had brought the guns with him and as Julie now listened, from when she spoke the movements and all sudden noises in the creepy woods had now faded. Julie shivered even more and looked around carefully and kept her sight on a tall figure that slowly walked towards another figure. The other shadowy figure was small and the shape made it look like a dog. The doggy shadow was slowly and steadily creeping not noticing the tall figure that had a sword in his hands.

That’s when Julie recognised that the figure had spiked up hair and realised the doggy shadow was a wolf. She grinned fiercely pulling out her bow and arrow and looked around for any other signs of movement made by any other wolves near by.

James ran straight behind the wolf and slit its throat making it squeal out loud as it trickled with blood that Julie couldn’t see.

Chris quickly pointed his pistols at the opposite direction and shot two wolves, that looked suspicious to any man from three miles away, in the head. They both fell to the floor as about ten wolves stopped themselves in the middle of the road and stared with no expression at their next meal for killing their packs and also for getting away. At first the wolves looked quite small but as they walked closer they could see that they were twice the size of a regular wolf. Their fast legs raced towards them as now they were all in the wagon. Julie was driving the wagon as James stayed in the back defending any that tried to get on the wagon as Chris was killing the ones that were coming in the distance ready to attack as well as the ones that were attempting to sneak up on them.

After about six rounds of bullets and four swings of James’ sword the wolves were gone and they passed a sign that read: Farm three miles.

James smiled reluctantly and looked at Julie who started to explain what had happened and who the farmer was.

Thirty miles down the road that James travelled on, Chief Ryok Ushi stopped his horse at a dead smell of the rotten meat that was much worse than dead fish. Flies hovered over his head continuously as they were squished by the massive hand of the Chief.

He got off his brown horse as he sniffed the air making the fellow officers look around and also search the parts of the wood. After five sniffs of the gentle cool air breeze he walked his way over to a bunch of corroded trees that let the big blood trail lead the mad officer to a pile of four dead wolves. As usual Ryok bullied his officer to come over and put a new record on for the amount of kills.

“Put down that he kills animals to!” shouted the officer as the guy ran across onto his horse and willingly got out of the evil woods and agreed for once with Ushi’s decision.

Ryok walked back over to the horse and ordered the time to set off and try to find the James Strakeln that they have been after for so long. In the distance the last and faint footsteps of the horses could be heard as well as Ryok swearing cause someone nicked his wallet.
