2 days to go!!!
OK, 2 more days til the Annual Sheffield Uni Gospel Choir Concert. I went on a little wander down (or up, then down, then up, then down, then up, then down.. Sheffield is a very hilly city) to Oasis Pizza in Broomhill, to pay about half of the cost for the 50 pizzas we're getting to feed the choir and other performers, etc. The guy I spoke to (coincedentally, also the guy I spoke to on the phone yesterday) was a really cool and laid back guy. Can't fault him. Apparently, he has 2 restaurants in the area, Oasis Pizza and Pisa Pizza, and both of them are going to be working hard on Thursday to make our 50 Pizzas in short enough time that they won't be too cold when they arrive.

Update on life stuff:

I won't be getting the job at church as a caretaker, cos I can't make the interview day tomorrow, however I do have a payrise at work as of today (pay day, woo hoo!!) so now I'm on £1,100 per month, up from £1,000 per month. after tax, that's £890 up from £805. Technically up from £820, but £15 of that was student loan repayment stuff. Good news is, though, that this month they've also put up the student loan repayment threshold. Before it was £10,000 per year, now it's £15,000. So given that 1,100 a month=13,200 a year, is less than 15,000, I no longer pay anything back on my student loan just yet.

So yeah. Been a pretty good day. Don't Americans have to pay their taxes on their own initiative or something? ie. you have a set date in the year when you, err.. pay your taxes?..

I much prefer PAYE (Pay as you Earn) which is the accepted standard in the UK, whereby your taxes are paid out monthly via deduction from your wages. I think if it were up to me to do it, I'd forget..
