October, my favorite time of year. Cool, foggy, pumpkinds, the worhsip of satan and praying to the dead; are all things that come to mind when I think of October. I love halloween... and so does a group of mischevous youngsters in "I luv Halloween" an awsome manga about some very deranged trick- or-treaters and the walking dead.
Another favorite released by Tokyopop is the unfinished series (U.S.) of Priest. Priest is a korean manga about a "wild-west frontier" dwelling priest who falls in love... but he never gets to break his cellabacy since his love is bruttaly murdered infront of him in order to suck him into an ancient battle between satan and a rival demon who's rebelling against god and the devil. Things turn really ugly when our dis-illusioned priest joins satans fight and alows himself to be "half possessed"... and thus the ass-kicking oldwest macabe demon-thrasshing begins.
You may aslo want to check out the manga "Model," if you like the fair skinned, skinny, angsty type of vampiric drama that Model delivers...
If you're going to theatres (in the U.S.) this fall make sure you go see the grudge 2. The American adaption of the sequal to juu-on... niether the original or the sequel will be any good in comparison to juu-on. If you like gore, zombies, and caucasian twenty something girls in japaense school-girl attire, then the grudge two is probably going to really excite you... it does me.
Finnally, amongst the classics that I always pull out this time of year (The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Evil Dead II,Friday the 13th and many more.) there is one film that stands up to the awsome horror tradition that my halloween has come to symbolize. That film is Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow... if you don't own this one, buy it.
Happy Halloween, Samhain, All Hallows eve, Harvest Season and have a great October!
