It's a game we all can play
This is an update. This is only an update.
I've decided to drown my Valentine's Day sorrow in unabashed materialism. I'm going to the mall, both comic stores, and...well, that's all. I'll also watch cartoons.
I've also decided that, unlike my actual predictions, Sadie Hawkins dances suck. I'm proactive. I can't stand the waiting around and waiting to be asked, if I'll be asked. I'm only more stressed out.
Lately, I've just been feeling really depressed regarding the fairer sex. I hope it passes with this God-awful day....
Thought of the moment: Still ca'nt believe Pheobe's getting married.

It's a DeathBug-type thing
Wow, quite a weekend, eh? Well, not really; I was sick on Friday, and spent today working on school stuff. Well, at least I got to watch TV...oh, and I got comics!
I went to the older comic shop by the game store (but don't tell Scott & the Millenium Comics guys...I didn't intend to buy anything...)
Venom: DeathTrap-The Vault: Gah, make the hurting stop! How could something with such a cool premise be so bad?!
The basic story is that Venom, super-villian extrordinaire, stages a prison breakout at the Vault, the prison for...super villains. The Avengers get involved, and there's mutiniy amongst the prisoners, and...aw, screw it.
Sure, it sounds cool, and it could have been cool, but the writing is so bad, it hurts. The characters are as bland as....a really bland thing. Don't waste your money.
Spider-Man: The dEath of Jean DeWolfe: This, on the other hand, kicked arse. Old skool, ya'll. When one of Spidey's friends on the force is murdered, he teams up with DareDevil to track her killer, but, in the process, starts to be consumed by his rage, yadda yadda. A good, solid story, considered by many to be a classic.
Smallville: Ehh....why can't Lana ever date a normal guy? And what's up with Pa Kent? Really, the most memorable things about this ep were the cliffhangers for the next one. The whole scenario with the girl's father had the misfortune of coinciding with that poor girl's murder in Sarasota, and I'm just seeing too many similarities to want to get into it.
Angel: The last two minutes frickin' made this episode. ^___^
Friends: No! No no no no no! Pheobe can't marry Mike!! Pheobe has to end up with Joey! It's been hinted at forever! I want Pheobe/Joey! They're made for each other! Besides, Mike is a cretin.
I'm very sad, and the last joke at the end was just nasty. ;_;
Yu-Gi-Oh: Hey, the Big Five are gone....again....who cares anymore? They've been gone three times previously. Ehh, I was kinda' sick of them, 'cept for Lector and Nesbitt.
Heh, Nesbitt got screwed! He actually won! Then he got evicted. Lame.
I want Noah to clobber Kaiba. I really do. BTW, the scene on the railroad car was hilarious. ^__^
Jackie Chan: Eh, it's been done. Aren't there evil demons on the prowl, or something? Focus, Jackie!
Xia Lin ShowDown: Hmmm....still bnot sure about this one...it's definatly got it's moments, but at the same time, there're some lame scenes.
Heh...."No hands. And no game."
Transformers: Energon: Wow...I still hate Kicker. I want him to die. But I like Alexis. She was the only kid from Armada with a decent head on her shoulders. Oh, and she hung out with StarSCream, which instantly made her cool.
Anyway, it was nice to see Cyclonus, but now he's dead...and so is Tidal Wave...the Decepticons are dropping like flies! Demolishor should watch out...
Teen Titans: Aww...I wanted it to be the Scarecrow, instead of Raven's subconcious. Ah, well. This episode still gets mad props for the coolest fight scene ever. "You gonna' bite Cyborg, Cyborg's gonna' bite back!"
I still say Raven and Beastie would make the best couple. ^__^
Ninja Turtles: Totally predictable. Don't cry if you missed it. I guess anything would be a let down after last week.
New Shaman King next week! Finally!!! ^___^
Well....I'm tired, and I've got to write to some friends, so I best be on my way. Oh, yeah...someone here asked me where I lived, but I can't remember who or why at the moment. ^^;;; I live in Florida, in a town called Brandon, near the city of Tampa.
Shout out to Li-C!
Thought of the moment: If robo-monkey Tristen has Tristen hair, does that mean there's a robo-monkey with Yugi hair?
Quote of the moment: "SOrry?! Do'nt give me sorry! Tell it to the judge, or to the priest, or better yet, tell it to Jean DeWolf!!"- Spider-Man, "The Death of Jean DeWolfe"

I can dance if I want to, I can leave my friends behind
Well....you know, everyone's talking about the super bowl and Janet Jackson. I didn't see it, and I was content in my ignorance of it, because, let's face it, professional sports are useless.
However, after seeing images of the halftime show *everywhere*, I've come to the conclusion that Janet and Justin's peep show was a good thing.
You see, for far too long, MTV (More Trash Vision) and most hip-hop and pop (Piles of Puke) have been degrading the moral decay of the country, infesting our culture with filthy and promiscuity. I'm not an uber-morallist, but with the family hour dead and gone, and the Disney Chanel and Cartoon Network the only TV that my sisters can watch unattended....well, someone had to say something.
It's good that this happened, because now, maybe people will actually realize just what is going on, and they'll take actions to prevent this disgusting parade of slime being pumped through our airwaves.
See, it all boils down to responsibility. It has always been the responsibility of parents to make sure that what their children were being exposed to was approporiate. The media doesn't care, frankly; they're a business, in to make money. It is the parents' job to let the media know: "Cross this line, and there will be consequences!"
What continues to amaze me, though, is how actavist groups and soccar moms go ballistic over stupid stuff, like "satanic" Yu-Gi-Oh cards and the "unconstitutional" Under God verse in the Pledge of Allegience. (In all fairness, I think that clause should be dropped, but for different reasons: it wasn't part of the original Pledge, and I don't think the Pledge should be modified in the first place.)
Don't get me started on the ACLU ("You can't say "under God", but you can look at some porn at the library!")
Anyway, food for thought: If we're not setting standards for our media, who is?
Whew...I usually don't get all worked up. ^__^;
So, I registered to vote at school today. I decided, at least for right now, I'm a Republican. Yeah, it's cool. I can't actually vote 'til September, but at least it'll be ready for me when I do. I can vote for the next President. ^__^
So, a couple of new Mock Trial wrinkles...a team mate who'd only shown up to three meetings this year had the nerve to tell me to "Be sure not to miss it today". I've shown up to every dang meeting!! I've done the most paperwork out of all of us! The assisting attorney even said that I was the most prepared! And you're telling me not to miss meetings?! Gah..
Oh, and that argumentative punk sophmore got the same advice I gave him last week, except this time from our coach, assistant attorney, and a fellow member. Then he shut right up. Double gah...
You know, the thing I'm looking forward to most from graduating is leaving all the petty social crap behind. One of my best friends is in a really catty fight with a kinda-friend girl in my first period.
My best friend is right, in this argument, and I totally support her. However, if I piss the other gal off, she'll hold a grudge and be totally nasty to me....every day...first thing in the morning....
Triple gah.
Well, at least Scrubs came back, and Smallville is on right now. ^___^
Quiz: Of the regular Smallville cast, which two characters weren't originally in the Superman comic books?
Thought of the moment: I love the Kaiser Glider. ^__^ Must get!

Me, or someone like myself
Well now, it was a happy day when I realized that Li-C had posted a reply to my last post. ^___^ It was a bit of a surprise, too, Li; I knew you read my blog, but I didn't know you'd respond.
Took me a sec to figure out who, exactly, was talking. "Hey, this sounds like...*glances at screen name*...Lady Chang. ^^" Yeah-p. Nice to hear from you. ^__^ E-mail me when you can; I wanna' know how you're doing.
Yesterday, I realized that I hate parades. The food is overpriced, the crowds are obnoxious, there's crap flying all over the place and, just for fun, the one I went to got rained on. I'm not being metapohorical; I was soaked.
I wasn't going by choice...well, I had a choice, but it was still the right thing to do. It was the Kiddie Gasperilla march in Tampa Bay, and with both of my little sisters' Girl Scout troops participating, my mom asked me to go with her to keep an eye on 'em.
Well, I wasn't going to say 'no', so I went. Little did I realize what would happen to me. :( My mom waited at the end of the path, where the girls were supposed to get out. My eldest sister had been given my cell phone so mom could keep tabs on her. Too bad she didn't turn it on...
So what ended up happening was, I had to go all the way to the beginning of the parade route to keep pace with the two of them. Then, I had to walk all the way up with them back to where I started.
Basically, I had to walk the whole parade twice. In the rain. And I got pulled over by an evangelist, who seemed very concerned about my Soul. While I think that's great, I probabably should have just told him that I'd been attending St. Andrew's Methodist for about five years now. Would have saved me a bunch of time.
My whole body ached when we finally got home. Parades are such a treat. ><
Well, at least there were pleanty of new cartoons and such this week.
Smallville: "Hey, I know! Let's have an episode where everyone beats the crap outta' Chloe for some reason!"
Really, that's what it was. I felt so sorry for her, although we did finally get the much heralded Chloe/Lana catfight. ^__^; And, for some unknown reason, said fight spilled over into the girl's locker room. And the shower. Can we say "fan service"?
This episode also added a new entry to my list of "Ways I Really, Really Don't Want to Die": getting stabbed in the ear with a sharpened pencil.
Angel: Andrew=comedy. My fave character from the last two seasons of BtVS finally comes back, and is in perfect comedic form. ^__^ That's good, because without him, this ep would have been way too dark for my tastes. Hey, Spike, need a hand? Ouch.
Jackie Chan: This was a really unique and enjoyable episode; I loved it, except for one glaring plot hole: They never explained where Draco came from! Yeah, I know he's Shindu's son, but Shindu's son from where? Do the other seven demons have offspring? When'd he get here?
Either way, he got stranded in the current time line, so he'll be back, hopefully. ^__^
I'm feeling kind of sorry for Shindu, and even he seemed to appreciate the irony of the situation. He only seems to be resurrected for about ten minutes each time before being statufied again. Bummer.
Xiao-Ling Showdown: Okay, I gave this show a try, and I'm stricktly neutral as of right now. I liked what I saw this week, but I could go either way. It'd probably be better if I knew more about the characters and their situation, but it's already showing a bit of originality, considering that the bad guys won. Big time.
.....What's with Pac Man Junior, or whatever he's supposed to be?
Pokemon: Did'nt bother to watch. Pokemon's been boring for three seasons now.
Yu-Gi-Oh: Due to VCR errors, YGO wasn't recorded this week. I'll wait 'til Friday to catch it. ^__^
Transformers: Energon: Well, the new TF series premiered Saturday night. My overall verdict: Uhh...ca'nt say. There's things I liked, and things I disliked.
For one, I hate Kicker. He needs to die.
It was interesting to see how the Autobots and Decepticons have been working together for the past ten years, but I noticed something: The Autobots treat the DEcepticons like second class citizens. You noticed the crap Demoloisher and Tidal Wave took, even when they were just doing their jobs. Autobots are jerks.
Not sure I like the Terrorcons, since they've got all the personality of can openers. I expected them to have Generals, like the Vehicons. Alas.
And what's with Alpha Q, anyway? He's a five-faced alien who was absorbed by Unicron, but now wants to help Unicron? Does'nt make much sense.
It was cool to seen Galvatron's corpse inside Unicron, though. ^__^
Teen Titans: Eh, pretty standard episode; no surprises here. Not bad, but not spectacular. All we found out was that Cyborg used to be an athlete. The ending was a wee bit too predictable.
When the titans were captured, Raven must really have had to pee. ^^;
Ninja Turtles: Well....I wish they'd been a little less obvious with the foreshadowing regarding Shredder's origin; I figured it out a while ago, as did most of the viewing audience. Alas.
Despite this, it was still a real nail-biter of an episode A few t hings I noticed: The room the turtles were trapped in...it literally barfed them up. Ew. I counted three obvious references to the original cartoon, as did the rest of ya'll, I'm sure. ^__^
So, now that things have settled down, let's take stock of the situation:
*The Turtles, Casey, April and splinter: Safe and sound and home again.
*The Utrons and their Guardians: Back on their home world, bein' all squiddly.
*The Fugitoid: With the Utrons
*Dr. Stockman: Free, but a head on spider legs.
*Hun and the other Foot ninja: Alive but unemployeed.
The Triceradons and Republic soldiers: All back where they belong, save a single Triceradon soldier who escaped into the sewers.
*Shredder: Dead. Really, I'm pretty sure this time. Besides, after what we've learned, there's no way he'd ever be the same again. Let's just leave him this way.
Oh, and a big monster looking thing escaped the Utron based before it went kablooie. Fun, huh?
Anyway, back to reality...I've been really busy as of late with school, and want to apologize for my inability to pay as much attention to yall's myOtaku as they really deserve. Forgive me. ^_^;
Thought of the moment: Can't wait for the Strike Ninja....

Yeep?
I really ought to get around to updating the looks of this site, but I've been really tired as of late. Cest la vie.
So, this morning, I got two letters of recomendation from two of my teachers. The particular teachers choosen were selected because they, in addition to having known me for a while, are also department heads. Looks good, I must say. ^__^
I'm meeting the admissions director for the Hillsborough Community College Honors Center on Monday. Yay, I guess. I've got to snag my transcripts Monday morning. The fact that I'm talking with a college admissions lady is blowing my mind.
More and more, lately, I've been faced with the fact that I'm on the threshold of entering the Real World. I saw the Lion King when it opened, but it's ten years old now. They're re-doing the cartoons I grew up on. It's scary, and I haven't actually, truly come to face this fact yet. And I don't plan to, not just yet.
My school is planning a Sadie-Hawkins event. For those unknowing, it's where the girls ask the guys to said event, and pay. It's a small balancing of kharmic accounts, you might say. I'm torn. On the one hand, I approve of the concept. Make the gals pay, for once. ^__^;
On the other hand, I'm scared to death that I might not actually get asked.
To add to my romantic depression, it's almost Valentine's Day. You can't tell by listening to me, but I'm actually one of those people who believes that V-Day is a fake Hallmark Holiday (C) made up just to push merchandise on the unsuspecting masses.
It's also a day for those annoying couples to shove their happiness in the face of those still single. Grr.
Today, in Mock Trial, this smart-ass sophmore punk really torqued me off. Seriously, he's correcting me on procedure, and generally giving a lot of attitude. So, I guess showing a bit of leeway to the alummni, who've actually DONE THIS BEFORE is out of the question? Cretin.
Thought of the moment: YGO WWE 04 comes in a little over a week. ^__^

I do my "I Love Comics" jig
Well, two things up today. First, I got the new Shonen Jump, so here's my thoughts. Warning: Spoilers!!
Hikaru No Go: Well well well...seems it's time for a rematch between Hikaru and Akira...the big question is, will Si pull any punches this time? I hope not; I'd like to see him go all-out.
This manga continues to be the new surprise of the season. I'm still a bit amazed that something so seemingly bland could be such a fascinating read.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Well...Rando went down a wee bit too fast, in my taste. Seemed like everything was just sped up for the Saint Beast saga. Oh well. At least I've come to an important decision: Kuwabara's my favorite.
DBZ: This whole section seemed like a warm-up to get Vegeta to fight Cell, which is fine, but the fight had better be worth the wait.
Naruto: Nice. Niiiice. Naruto got all fox-demon on Haku's ass. Kind of an anti-climax, though. Sure, I didn't expect Naruto to kill him, but neither did I expect Haku to just give up. Haku's kind of a wuss.
It also seems like Zanbu's gone to the dogs. ^__^ I ca'nt wait for Kakashi to really open up a can on him. Kakashi pwns.
One Piece:..........I was cool with this whole issue 'til the Meowban Brothers showed up. Oh God, that's lame. ><
Yu-Gi-Oh: Nice, a whole issue of duelin' action. ^__^ The best part, IMO, was Yugi's first use of the Dark Magician. Sure, he's drawn a little funkily, but it's still him.
Gee, wonder how Yugi'll get out of this mess? ;)
Shaman King: I have a slight problem with this issue, but it's minor. It seems like a side effect of being possessed by Tokagero was a partial lobotemy for Ryu. Don't get me wrong, I get the reason for the shift in his character, but it happened a wee bit too fast.
Anyway, nice transition piece, with peeks at a lot of new chars, and setting the stage for...hopefully, more action. ^__^
Oh, and Ryu really needs to wear his hair down.
Now....I recently bought and read the *very* entertaining mini-series of the early ninties, "Deadly Foes of Spider-Man". It's about a group of super-villian called the Sinister Sydicate. Lead by the Beetle, they are: Rhino, Hydro-Man, Boomerang and Speed Demon. Special guest appearance by the Shocker and the Kingpin.
Basically, this series follows the activities and eventual disbandment of the Syndicate, and gives you the villian's eye view of things.
First, a bit of background: prior to this series, a violent psychopath known as the "Scourage of the Underworld" started killing off supervillians. He was aprehended before finishing off the Shocker, and this caused Shocky to suffer a bit of a breakdown. Part of this series ivolves his regaining of (most of) his self-confidence.
In their first outing, the Syndicate runs afoul of Spider-Man actually gets the upper hand. However, the Rhino stops them from killing him. Seems that the big lug wants to retire, and doesn't want a murder rap on his head.
As the gang's leaving, Boomerang decides to finish Spidey off. Turn out Our Hero wasn't as down as he seemed, and makes short work of Boomerang. (I mean, come on, he's Boomerang). BRang is captured while the others flee, and this sets off a whole series of events that culminates in a huge riot in New York, as the Syndicate breaks apart and tries to kill each other.
This was an interesting read; I found two flaws. First, Hydro-Man did absolutly nothing. Everyone else had stuff going on, and he...didn't...
Second, decay of characterization. In the first two issues, the Beetle and Speed Demon had their characters built up, but in the last issue...that all kind of went away. Bummer.
Other than that, it's a great read, and cheap. I got m ine out of the dollar bin. ^__^
Thought of the moment: Ther original, green-skinned blue-clothed Dark Magician looks so much cooler than the purple one. THere, I said it...

Sunday bloody Sunday
Weekend stuff...lessee'...
The dollar bin at the comic store is gone. ;_; I raided what was left of it on Saturday. Weep for the loss.
Yu-Gi-Oh was kinda' lame...I didn't get the feeling of tension or excitement. There was nothing technically wrong with it, but nothing amazing, either.
Hmmm...I didn't really do much this weekend; that's a bummer. I'm just letting ya'll know I'm still alive. ^__^
Thought of the moment: "Deadly Foes of Spider-Man" was an awesome series.

O.O
I pulled Judgement of Anubis.
^______^
My first ever secret rare Yu-Gi-Oh card. Yay! I also pulled several Archfiends, including my favorite, Shadow Knight! Best pack evah!!
Well...my friend Li-Chan is gone for now. Gah, sometimes I get torqued at her folks. They can be jerks. -- If you're reading this, Li-C, your friends miss you! ^_^
And so I'm not completely self-serving, TV reviews.
Smallville: Wow, Pete was actually interesting. I'm impressed; for being one of Clark's best friends, his character has been pretty bland. I'm hoping he'll have more exposure, but not more than Chloe. *I'd* date Chloe...
Angel: Ehh...transition episode, but a fairly enjoyable one. Angel's dreams were amusing, bit it was spike's first heroic rescue that made the episode. ^__^ And next week, Andrew's guest-starring! Yeah!!
Scrubs: Finally!! New episodes of Scrubs! Took 'em long enough. Lots of sex jokes in this one...wonder if that was intentional? This ep was okay, but kind of forgettable....I've forgotten most of it.
So, I wish i could make AMV's, because these are the ones I'd make:
Points of Authority (Linkin Park) Tribute to Beelzemon. If you've heard that song, it practically tells his life's story.
Come Out Swinging (Offspring) DBZ's Vegetta vs. YGO's Seto Kaiba. They're practically the same guy, so a showdown is inevitable.
Clint Eastwood (Gorillaz) Shaman KIng Montage. Once you think of this song as being about Shaman King, you'll never stop.
The Anthem (Good Charlotte) Tribute to Digimon 02, or rather, the cast of.
Hang On (Smashmouth) Tribute to Joey Wheeler
Come Out and Play (Offspring) Yu yu Hakusho montage. Come on, it's a song about gang violence....
The Anthem Part II (Blink-182) South Park montage
By the Way (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Peter Parker/Spider-Man montage. Pete's social life continues to crumble as crazed villains cause trouble.
Gylcerine (Can't remember the band...) Nicholas D. Wolfwood tribute
The Way you Like It (Adema) Tribute to the Dark Yamis (redundant), Bakura and Marik.
One Week (Barenaked Ladies) Furi Kuri montage
Walkin' on the Sun (Smashmouth) Akira tribute
Bad Habbit (Offspring) Kaneda tribute
Hit That (Offspring) Tongue-in-cheek Tenchi Muyo tribute. ^__^ Notice a lot of Offspring? Told ya' I liked 'em.
Feelin' This (Blink-182) Tribute to my fave anime gals
Personal Space Invader (Sugar Ray) Tribute to Invader Zim
Unwell (Matchbox 20) Tribute to Vash the Stampede
Yeah, that's just off the top of my head...
Thought of the moment: I'm going to use a pic of a Yu-Gi-Oh monster in a school paper. Guess which one! ^__^

Greedy Blood-sucking Lawyers
Yewah, I'm on the Mock Trial team. Fun. ^__^ No, really, I love this stuff. Our case is a right-to-die case concerning legalized mrcy-killings. The doctor stands accused of having coerced his patient into allowing his death. It's cool.
I do the most work out of anyone there, but I don't think I'll be named "Best Attorney". :( "Best Attorney" is always the same guy...
The other downside of doing the most work is that you're critiqued the most. I spent over an hour total having my work picked apart. Keeps my ego in check.
But you know what? Who cares! I love this, and I'm gonna' keep doing it. ^__^

Sorry...
No "Sol" tonight, after all...I'm just really tired. Guess those late nights in the Cursed chatrooms are gettin' to me.
Everyone be sure to harass me at every turn until ya'll get more "Sol".
Also, go read MillieFan's entires in "Anime Characters' Answering Machine Messages". They're hilarious...well, they are if you've seen Trigun.
Or you could read mine, from Shaman King...Whatever.
^__^ G'night!!
