Hurricanes: They're almost as bad as hippies
Loosing power for several hours as dusk approaches gives one time to reflect on stuff. It gave me time to hone my night vision, at least. But, yeah, I reflected on stuff too.

This blog used to be fun, but for some reason, I've let it become a chore. I don't know why. I think I need to go back to my blogging roots, when I used this page to review all the cool comics I read and cartoons I watched. Yeah, that'd be neat. Does anyone remember "Bug Biz", anyway?

Since the new season is starting this week, that's exactly what I'll do. ^__^

Barnes & Noble is closed today, and was closed yesterday due to the weather, so no work. ;_;

Rayne, before I forget: the reason I asked if you knew any Russian was because I want to write a short message to Julia in Russian in her Christmas card. ^^; (Yeah, lame idea; so what?) Do you know any holiday greetings?

Also before I forget, I have a new AIM name: thedeathbug. Easy to remember, right?

Anyway, I'm still very concerned about Bandit Joeykuba; it's been over a month since I've heard from here, and the last thing I did hear was that her mom was sick. She hasn't responded to the e-mail I sent her; I fear the worst.

I'll let you guys go, now, with a promise to bring a new standard of quality to this site. I've also decided to return the quote sources. ^^;

Thought of the moment: Happy Labour Day!

Quote of the moment: "I'm cryin' on the inside." -Homsar

Song of the moment:

"The Cheat", Skate Party

How is always giving strongbad a hand?
The cheat, The cheat.
How is always messing up homestar's plans?
The cheat, The cheat.
Who's gonna start a rock and roll band?
The cheat, The cheat.
Who's making out with marzipan?
The cheats, The cheat.
The cheeeeeat, The cheat is in the house.
Who's the man that looks like the cheat?
The cheat, The cheat.
Who's the one with yellow feet?
The cheat, The cheat.
Who's the dude that moves to the beat?
The cheat, The cheat.
Who's the guy from 21 jump street?
Not The cheat, not The cheat.
The cheat, The cheat.

Hippies Suck
Today, I'm going to talk to you about something I love: hippies. Specifically, I love to rag on them.

The hippy movement of the late sixties and early seventies was not, by any means, a good thing. No no no. Remember Steal This Book? It was supposed to be the bible of the hippie revolution, and it spoke of such things as how to steal, grow your own marijuna, fight the Man, etcetera.

Hmm, let's look at some of the teachings of hippyism:

Free love- Oh, there's one! "Free" means "free of consequence", so you can be as much of a whore (or man whore, for my male readers) as you want, and nothing bad will happen to you! Of course, you'll loose your self-esteem, more than likely get a disease, and possibly develope emotional problems, but that was never mentioned by a hippy.

Drug use- Look, it's bad enough that tobacco use has been ingrained in our culture since colonial times; do we really need to add marijuana to the list?

And, of course, the classic hippy exercise, protesting against the military. We've all seen pics of Vietnam protests, right?

So, while brave young men were risking their lives in a god-forsaken jungle on the other side of the world, you were sitting here have sex and drugs and your damn annoying hippy music, right, Mr. Hippy? And when those men came home, you had the tenacity, the unimaginable GALL, to assail them in hurtful and vile ways?

So, in summary, hippies and their pariphenalia aren't 'cool', 'retro', or 'neat'. They're stupid, sortsighted apperitions of society whose movement was the genesis of many of the social problems our society faces today. They shouldn't be glorified; they should be ridiculed like the stoned fools they are.

Or maybe I'm just a military brat.

Thought of the moment: Wow, the protests in New York turned violent. Who saw that coming? *raises hand*

Quote of the moment: "Meh!"

Song of the moment: None today; I gotta' go.

O__O
Steph, you might come down here? Seriously? Don't kid me like that girl; any details?

That would be so cool. ^__^

Ahem, I don't have anything to say, really. So, I'll give a mini-rant.

At work, I saw a magazine cover about a bunch of people streaking in New York to protest the Republican National Convention. My thoughts? I'm so glad I'm not a Democrat.

Do you recall any Republicans acting a fool during the DNC? No, because that's stupid and childish. When the Democrats made statements we didn't agree with, we rebutted them. We didn't streak.

Now, watching people plan large-scvale protests to the RNC before it's even begun, before ANYONE HAS ACTUALLY SAID ANYTHING, I have to ask a simple question: Don't you people have jobs?

Apparently, the rules of civil discourse don't apply to the democratic party, who are using shock tactics akin to those of MTV. Good for them. Yet another reason they've lost my vote for the forseeable future.

Thought of the moment: Haven't heard from Bandit in a while. I hope she and her mom are okay.

Quote of the moment: "He's behind the frickin' box! I'll kill you! I'll kill all a' your dogs!"

Song of the moment:

"My December", Linkin Park

This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear
This is my December
This is my snow covered home
This is my December
This is me alone

And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all
The things I said
To make you
Feel like that
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all the
Things I said to you

And I give it all away
Just to have somewhere
To go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to

This is my December
These are my snow covered dreams
This is me pretending
This is all I need

And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all
The things I said
To make you feel like that
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all the things
I said to you

And I give it all away
Just to have
Somewhere to go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to

This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear

And I give it all away
Just to have somewhere
To go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to

Higher Learning and Lung Cancer
collegian

\Col*le"gi*an\, n. A member of a college, particularly of a literary institution so called; a student in a college; the DeathBug

Yes, I am now officially a student of the Hillsborough Community College. Good times.

Granted, I have to go through Rush Hour Trafik to get there, and there's this jerk in a black pickup who keeps illegally taking the right of way, but it's worth it, I suppose.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I must take Introduction to Computers, which is so painfully boring that I'm getting tired just talking about it. The first homework assingment? In a paragraph, tell us if you think video games cause violence. Mah brain hurts.

The second class I take on M&W is College Algebra. As many of you might remember, I hate math like...something bad. So, while I'm not thrilled with it, at least I'm fairly good at algebra, as math goes.

The Honors students have a cool lounge with a really slow computer and a fridge. Yay, right? I can bring a luch, drop it in the fridge in the morning, then come back after class and eat lunch while doing my homework. Good times.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have Psychology honors and Hummanities Honors 2.

Psychology is cool; we'll apparently get to argue, do experiments and read about crazy people. Also, Ernesto's in my class. it's a small world.

To make the world even smaller, Julia is in my hummanities class. <3 Hummanities is apparently a study of art, which I am more than likely too uncultured to understand.

After class, I like to go to the gym. Yay fitness.

I would have posted last night, but I got called into work, to man the registers. I'm reminded of how much I love working the registers. I want to be transferred to the registers; maybe James will be in tonight? Maybe I can ask him.

Anyway, I've got to clean up my room and organize my school stuff. And, in other news, I'm thinking of becoming an eBay user.

If you haven't been to Azale at Keenspace.com yet, what be wrong with you?

Thought of the moment: Waaay too many people smoke on campus. So gross.

Quote of the moment: "Tompkins, how you be so short?"

Song of the moment:

"eBay", Wierd Al

Yeah
A used ... pink bathrobe
A rare ... mint snowglobe
A Smurf ... TV tray
I bought on eBay

My house ... is filled with this crap
Shows up in bubble wrap
Most every day
What I bought on eBay

Tell me why (I need another pet rock)
Tell me why (I got that Alf alarm clock)
Tell me why (I bid on Shatner's old toupee)
They had it on eBay

I'll buy ... your knick-knack
Just check ... my feedback
"A++!" they all say
They love me on eBay

Gonna buy (a slightly-damaged golf bag)
Gonna buy (some Beanie Babies, new with tag)
(From some guy) I've never met in Norway
Found him on eBay

I am the type who is liable to snipe you
With two seconds left to go, whoa
Got Paypal or Visa, what ever'll please
As long as I've got the dough

I'll buy ... your tchotchkes
Sell me ... your watch, please
I'll buy (I'll buy, I'll buy, I'll buy ...)
I'm highest bidder now

(Junk keeps arriving in the mail)
(From that worldwide garage sale) (Dukes Of Hazzard ashtray)
(Hey! A Dukes Of Hazzard ashtray)
Oh yeah ... (I bought it on eBay)

Wanna buy (a PacMan Fever lunchbox)
Wanna buy (a case on vintage tube socks)
Wanna buy (a Kleenex used by Dr. Dre, Dr. Dre)
(Found it on eBay)

Wanna buy (that Farrah Fawcett poster)
(Pez dispensers and a toaster)
(Don't know why ... the kind of stuff you'd throw away)
(I'll buy on eBay)

What I bought on eBay-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y

Busy Busy Busy
First off, a message to anyone reading this: my old hard drive crashed as I was trying to load it onto my new tablet, so if anyone and everyone could please send me their contact and site info, that'd be great. I'll be trying to find everything on my own, of course, but it would really help me out. ^__^

So, now that I've put in more work than humanly possible at the cafe, I'm here to tell you about it. Well, uhhh....it was hard, and my calves really hurt. That's tragic in more ways than one, because I have sexy calves.

I took my sisters to see the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie Friday night, and even got a Blue Eyes shining Dragon with my ticket. (Sorry, Solo.)

The movie was decent, but nothing special. I would, however, go as far to say that it was the best movie I'd seen all year to begin with the letter "Y".

The big plus was the return of Pegasus, and his innate ability to say what I would really like to say in his situation. Pegasus rocks. ^__^

And today I went to get supplies from the college book store. I burned up $648 of my $650 scholarship in a half hour. Books were bloody expensive, but I also got a voice recorder, and a super duper calculator. And lots of pencils, and a backpack, and a shirt.

Government money rocks.

Tomorrow's the last day of my summer, so I'd best make good use of it, no?

Thought of the moment: My new computer is spiffy.

Quote of the moment: "There there; you don't gotta' limbo if ya' don't want."

Song of the moment:

"Won't Stand Down", Tom Petty

Well I won’t back down, no I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down

Gonna stand my ground, won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won’t back down

Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down.

Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I’ll stand my ground and I won’t back down

Hey baby there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down

Aliens rule!!
I had an interesting and productive day today. I'll tell you all about it, 'kay?

So, I thought I was due in to work to cover this one girl's shift. Surprise, she was there! Yay? I decided to help her open the c afe, and, whilst I was there, clean the two refrigerators in the kitchen. ('Twas my turn.)

Then, a crisis struck: we were out of skim milk! So, my manager gave me fifty bucks and told me to run to the nearest grocery store and get a lot of milk. Which I did, quite handily. (I saved him money by buying the Publix brand.)

Then, turns out that the other guy on the shift was sent to fetch Vanilla flavored syrup. (We were out of everytrhing today, apparently.) So, I stayed on until he got back. Then, I finally got the fridges clean, and clocked out.

By then, it was elevenish. Mom asked me to go to K-Mart and buy shoes. So, I went, but the shoes on sale weren't in my size. Bummer, neh? I got a rain-check.

After that, I went to the comic shop. I now have Marvel Knight Spider-Man #5, Spectacular Spider-Man #19, and Ultimate Spider-Man #64. Reviews will follow.

After that, I went to the gym. Whilst there, I got a cell call, and when I checked my voice mail it turned out to be Ernesto. David, it seems, is leaving for Tallahassee on Friday, for his first semester at FSU. So, we were gonna' have a guy's night out.

We went and saw AVP, and a review will follow. We saw David off, and Ernesto told me we'll have Psychology together this semester. wh00t!

Then, I came home. Now, time to review things.

Spectacular Spider-Man #18: It completely and totally sucks to be Paul Jenkins, the monthly scribe of this book. He's turned in pretty consistant work for a while now, but nothing he does is ever acknowledged in his sister book, Amazing, because that book's author is a big-headed punk wo doesn't care about continuity.

In Spectacular, one of Pete's best friend was in a horrible car accident, leaving him in a vegitative state. Does Amazing ever mention this? No. Yet Spectacular has constantly used the plot changes introduced in Amazing, even the ones that suck.

Another downer is that Spectacular is constanly hijacked for lame crossovers, like this Avengers: Disassembled crap. Captain America is in this, for no reason at all, as of yet.

The Queen is a villainess with potential, but this story is too much of a mess to bring it out. And MJ's behavior, given the circumstances, is just stupid.

However, I'll give credit where credit is due: Peter actually turning into a spider is creeping the hell out of me.

Quote: "It doesn't matter today, and it'll matter even less when we get what we need." -The Queen

Marvel Knight Spider-Man #5: Man, this issue fell flat. Really, flat. Part one of Venomus sucks, with way too many lame attempts at humor, a completely pointless an inconsequential battle, and a rather stupid cliffhanger.

And you think an issue called "Venomous" would include Venom, but he's only on one page. They can't all be winners, I guess; here's hoping they get the ball bouncing againn ext month.

However, I'm pleased the plot points left over from the Hunger storyline are being picked up again.

Quote: "No sense making my last few days on Earth any more unpleasant than they have to be, right?" -Eddie Brock/Venom

Ultimate Spider-Man #64: Gwen Stacy is dead. Dead dead dead. And Peter's mad. Mad mad mad. And Carnage is a killer mutant clone. Clone clone clone.

This issue was rather creepy, and it's a fitting tobne for what's basically a really crappy chapter in Peter's life. I've noticed a pattern in this series: whenever things start to look up for Peter, that's when the really, really intense stuff happens. The return of the Goblin, the birth of Venom, and now Carnage. Bad mojo, I tell you.

Anyway, this book anfd the whole Carnage storyline has been great. Check it out.

Quote: "I will meet you there with this thing and you better have a way to kill it! Because if you don't, I'm throwing it in the room with you and locking the door!" -Peter Parker

Aliens Versus Predator: Well, before I even talk about the movie, I'll just tell you upfront: I'm biased. tHe original Alien was a cinematic masterpiece, and even the worst film in the series is still decent watching. The alien Xenos are the most efficient killing machines ever devised by fiction, and their abilities make them the ultimate enemy, and damn near unstoppable.

The Predators starred in two movies, only one of which was any good. The Predators are wusses without their fancy weapons. Aliens > Predators, both in franchise quality and downright awesomenicity.

This movie is a pity film from the Aliens to the Predators; the Xenos are cinematically slumming it to be in this movie.

That said, it's decent entertainment; I didn't expect anything to speciakl, but there were a few good scenes, mostly showing how bad-ass the aliens are.

Yet, even though it follows its own sort of logic, there's a single point in the movie you can look to and see a large group of plot holes begin to form, and keep forming. It's like the screen writers just wanted to wrap it up, so damn both our own logic and co,mmon sense.

For some ungoly reason, the Predators are portrayed as heroic, even after they kill several people. The humans side with the Predators, deciding that the enemy of their enemy is their friend. Well, that adage is stupid to bbegin with, and, if you consider that the whole damn crisis is the Predators' doing, it would make just as much sense to help the Aliens. Sheesh.

My favorite character is a tenacious alien I nickname Crisscross. You'll know why and which one he is if you watch the movie. He's bad ass. ^__^

Quote: "Hsssss!" - Crisscross

And i'm out.

Thought of the moment: Have you read Rayne's comic yet? Go to her page for the link!

Quote of the moment: "The homeland!" -Ernesto

Song of the moment:

"Disarm", Smashing Pumpkins

Disarm you with a smile
And cut you like you want me to
Cut that little child
Inside of me and such a part of you
Ooh, the years burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what i choose is my choice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone
Ooh, the years burn
Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn

I used to be a little boy
So old in my shoes
And what I choose is my voice
What's a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you

The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you
The killer in me is the killer in you
Send this smile over to you

   Busy but happy
You know that good feeling you get when you've got a metaphorical full plate, but it's okay because you're in control? I got that right now. ^__^ I'm working all week, and have reading to do, and hardly have time to duel anymore, or relax, but it's good, it's good.

Classes start a week from tomorrow, and I'm a bit psyched; I go in on Monday to get books and supplies. The only thing that's really bugging me is that I work a night shift on some days that I have school. --; Guys, come on; I can work Thursday night shifts, any Friday or Saturday shift, and Sunday AM shits. Is it that hard to keep me within that schedule? Sheesh; I need to clear that up.

I'm working the AM shift tomorrow. On FRiday, I work the day shift, then come home. I'm taking Macy to see the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie then, since I'll be working during her birthday party. =(

Julia is in New York right now. I don't know why I said that, but I figured I'd just throw that out there for ya'll.

I'm really content right now. Don't know why exactly; perhaps Li-C's happiness has infected me. (Yet more corruption, Li-C!) Fortunatly, it's a good kind of infection.

And, for the first time since I started going there, I made it to round 2 of the Hobbytown tournament. ^__^ i changed my Fiend deck into a generic Dark deck, and added Raremetal Dragons, Familiar Knights, Drillago and Peten the Dark Clowns. I won because my attacked my face down monster instead of obliterating my Scapegoat with his Spear Dragon.

Anyway, I still have to read Utopia and reply to Rayne, so I'll be off. Good morrow, my fellows!

Thought of the moment: Got a lot of cards for my Zombie deck tonight. ^__^

Quote of the moment: "Sometimes he gets mad and that is dreadful."

Song of the moment:

"Iris", the Goo Goo Dolls

(Note: The acoustic version of this song really gets to me.)

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
And you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

Miyo
Yes, I'm working again. I could post my schedule for the next three weeks, but...well, we're not working in real time or anything, so why bother?

This is just an update. 'Tis all. ^__^

Gotta' go; it's rayning right now.
