And I said.

Current Music: "Soon" - My Bloody Valentine

Kenneth vs. An extraordinarily large majority of OBers [and their lawyers/fists].

[inspired by Shin.]
Ugh.
I read that topic and was flabbergasted. I don't know if any of the people that post there will read this, this will be pretty long so.. If you don't take interest in satire/don't want to hear my opinion, that's cool. I respect that. Heh. I don't mean to offend any of you guys, you know how blunt I am. No hard feelings, cause you know- I wuffles you guys! <3<3<3<3<3

Ahem. Moving right along..

I guess I should start from the beginning of the thread, hm?

First, the quote in the first post from an "anonymous" PM.

"Originally Posted by let that be anonymous

"

[/shock]

"if you are a true goth you will not believe and god and jesus and worship satan and the anti-christ...."

Hmm. Satan AND the anti-Christ?

"well tell me what bands you like a word of advice images are deceiving hahahahaha"

Note: tons of annoying evil smilies omitted for consumer safety. EMOTICONS KILL- DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!

All of that is well and good but, as the flood of "OMG I AM A PHILOSOPHER =D" people said, that's pretty stupid. I don't need to reiterate what the aforementioned population of 12-18 year old philosophers deduced, so. Let's carry on with "Oceanborn's" first post, shall we?

"What do you consider as gothic music?"

Good Charlotte is pretty goth.

"A true goth neglects everything you would mean as happines or fun."

=/ I guess that means no poker. *puts cards up*

"His soul may be filled with sorrow, pain, sadness; although, ideally, one doesn't care abot feelings for feelings are nothing to care for."

Heh. Cycles of destruction are easy to breed. All you need is a spark.

"A true goth, in fact, doesn't care about this world at all. The world is nothing to care about for a goth for a goth is not someone to be cared of by this world."

Doesn't really make them unique. Walking through life, the scenes you pass through- most of the time you feel like you are the only actor on a stage you wish you could escape/couldn't care less for.

"A true goth loves Darkness. A satanist loves Evil. While that is, in fact, _the_ difference between the two, some may succesfully combine these dogmas. This doesn't make them being true goths. They still stay satanists."

Evil is relative to your viewpoint. Id est, some men have no qualms with slaughtering innocent civilians to meet their goals. 9/11, Breslan, etc. They aren't evil to them, are they?

So really, the difference between a Goth and something "evil" might not be as black and white to some.

After reading this, I was feeling pretty good about this topic. Maybe it could go somewhere. So, I came to "demonchild781"'s post. "demonchild781", I thought- "why would someone named demonchild781 be posting in a topic about goths?"

"I thought I would inform you on a little bit of information. Goth is an extreme form of christianity."

You don't say.

" The reason they dress in black is to purge themselves of all worldly desires including color."

... color is a worldly desire?

"If you think I'm making this up to be a *****, you're wrong."

The thought never crossed my mind.

"I've had friends that are goth or were practicing for a while. I've also done research on this topic to better understand my friends and their beliefs."

Thusly, we have our first scholar of the topic. Unfortunately it would not be the last pseudo-scholar/philosopher to appear.

"So, don't make goths sound so bad please."

But they like darkness. Haven't you ever seen Pitch Black?

So, with this post we get some stunning information. Goths are extremist Christians who were black to purge themselves of worldly desires [especially the evil desire of color].

.. Hookay.

QA posted next.

"I'm sure that nothing that Oceanborn says about goths will make them sound so bad as what the kids of society today try to portray as Goth."

Well, at least no one has mentioned how evil Hot Topic is.

"They think that shopping at Hot Topic and wearing all their trendy red and black clothing while listening to heavy metal is the cool thing to do to be "different" and to be "goth.""

Err. Spoke too soon.

Heh. I think you mean nu-metal. True metal is not popular. Not in the least. I only know one person IRL out of myriads of friends who is into the 'good' kind of metal.

We skip down a few posts to see DeathBug try to clear everything up with a well placed definition of the word "Goth".

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. *drool drips off chin*

Alan's post is, somehow, entirely intelligent. No criticism there.

Solo's post is also admirable, albeit idealistic. He doesn't say anything foolish though, so he gets a gold star. *pins it on Solo's shirt* =)

Then, we hit Juu's post. Ah, my old unwise adversary. Mayhap she has wizened a bit in her days of wandering in Cali?

"Hot Topic deserves to die. -____-"

Ouch, a rocky start.

"So many people at school shop there, claiming to be 'different' but it's not really 'different' when 1/3 of the school owns the very same shirt that says 'I'm weird'."

Sigh. They want to be different, it isn't there fault. Conformity isn't comfortable, it never is. They want to fool themselves, they want to feel special. Billions of people on Earth, they want to be them.

The resources they have access to, the only things that they can mix and match to help them feel "special". Music. The way they dress. How they act.

Not just goths do it. All of you do it. You want to be more than transcended dust, you want to be the shining star in the sky.

Instead you are cluttered with millions of other stars, suffocated in a ocean of people trying to be independent, seeking your same goals.

*shakes his head* You, none of you, have any right to criticize.

" Not to mention, they talk about how much they love heavy metal when they haven't even heard a single song from the band on their T-shirt."

Actually, this is pretty true if you encounter a poser who thinks he is, you know, THE metalhead.

The people you should be scared of are the guys that say, walk up in an orange shirt and go.. "hey.. you look like you need some metal."

;)

"Also, they keep bashing 'preps' when honestly, I don't see anyone who would admit to liking Britney Spears anymore, because it seems almost as if 'punk'/'goth' is the new 'pop'."

They are angry. Seeing people happy when it seems beyond your reach enrages you. They need to categorize these happy people as something, and they are categorized as preps.

They envy it. It is something they either fool themselves into thinking they will never taste or they genuinely feel they will never taste. Either way, if it is a mask or not, that is why.

That's how I see it. It's part o the act.

If it isn't part of the act, you should try taking the cross on their shoulder off for them.

"SososoSO annoying, though. "Like, dude, I slit my wrist 92313098 times today. My life sucks.""

Heh. I have no comment on that.

I feel it below me to comment on the fools who pretend that slitting their wrist is cool. That goes over the line.

It isn't cool. It is an experience that is not.. right.

The step beyond just wanting to die, when you are dying. It is a feeling that I cannot describe.

It is almost like a sense of relief, maybe.

Heh. Never get to that point.

especially if there is a chance, after feeling that relief, that you will be drug back into the normalcy of life.

"Being yourself is about being comfortable with who you are, not relying on clothes or a certain genre of music to reflect your personality"

At your age, Juu, how else are they going to be who they are, hm?

What other resources to they have? What great thing are they supposed to tap into to express themselves?

You clearly know something I don't.

MangaFreak's post is noticeable for one reason.

"actually 200 years ago it was a barbarian tribe that liked to attack the roman empire and hold it for ransom"

Now, you know I like history. I like it alot. I'm very zealous about it.

So..

ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!

We skip down a bit and see Juu discussing the horrid, heathen empire known as Hot Topic.

"People TRY to be what they think is 'goth' by wearing all black/shopping around at Hot Topic

You wanna know something kinda funny?

All the posts bashing Hot Topic are multiples of 3.

The first one was post number 3, by QA. Then the 12th post by Juu. Now this is the 21st post, also by Juu.

Funky.

So, we find Kami Kali's post! Hey, it's another person with intellect. Cool. =) Good post, bit dramatic. No biggy.

BUT SUDDENLY- Juu counters the well thought out post with something that is NEVER brought up in a debate/discussion!

The posters age!

"...And you're twelve years old?"

OMG THEY ARE TWELVE. EVERYTHING THEY JUST SAID LOST ALL CREDIBILITY/WEIGHT TO IT.

Oh, WOE IS ME who thought that THOU was 13+!!!

Silly kid! Everything for kids is roses. You have to be happy!

*shakes head* Silly children. Angst is for teenagers.

"... bad things happen and we can't do anything about it besides learn from our mistakes and be stronger as a person."

Wise words, wise words.

Very black and white, but still they retain wisdom.

"But I don't get how being depressed gets you to drag yourself to the nearest mall to buy black clothes and sit in front of the mirror applying eyeliner whilst bashing preps and such."

Folks, if she had mentioned Hot Topic this would also have been a post whose number was a multiple of three- 24!

Funky.

"*shuts up* Excuse me. ~_~;"

You're excused.

This biased post is followed by a very objective approach to the goth subject by Inari. I found it to be very well written and the website he links to I often visit to read up on various religions.

Skipping CHW's [skip it very fast, even a little bit of exposure to her posts can cause Horsewoman Cancer, the most deadly form of OB disease] post we find anatema giving us another intellectual post.

So that's like.. 4-5 intellectual posts out of 28 so far.

.. Ouch.

From there we slam into another one of Juu's posts.

Who didn't see me criticizing her coming? Hah.

"What I don't get is, if these people 'hate the light', how do they manage to walk into a shopping centre and walk past all the pastel-coloured clothes to get OVER to Hot Topic? That just confuzzles me. Not to mention, you look at bright light from going online. Just on OB there's white as the background, so how come nobody's going 'OMFGZ!11MYEYES'?"

Ouch, your lack of wit is painful. *holds forehead* Ugh, I think I'll be ok.

Alright.. the pain is gone. Phew. Be careful, jeez. o.o

"And people walking around saying 'oOo look at mee, I'm a demon' makes just as much sense to me as someone walking around going 'oOo look at mee, I'm Pikachu'."

*pain*

*agony*

"Only, people who go around saying they're a pokemon don't complain about light, 'preps', or 'human beings'."

Prior to this, the erosion of the topic's intellect wasn't going too fast.

Well, we just took a leap. A leap off a cliff.

A leap off into a bottomless-cliff, deep into the abyss of "duhhhh".

"... parents can actually afford to buy them clothes from Hot Topic (what- $22 being the cheapest shirts and having little pins that say 'I'm Weird' for $5?)."

Evil rears it's ugly head once more in the form of....

...Hot topic...

Heh. I dunno what the point of this is. Reading this, it brought up things of my past I have to get off my chest.

About this kid I knew, yeah. I knew him for awhile- all of my life, really.

Hated life. Played the goth, not in body but in soul. Made fun of alot, woulda been no big deal if it had been an isolated problem. That + something else + something else= messed up kid. He didn't realize his shields were gone, hull exposed- it was too late to do anything about it, anyway.

Slit his wrist and died, yeah. Died a agonizing death. He didn't die- "he" died. His emotions, the experience altered his viewpoint on life drastically. He was yanked from the blissful relief of death to play the role of the Phoenix, emerging from his death into a bright, vigorous display of wonder.

Yeah. I've been there. I've been that little angst case who is listening to metal, trying to understand things he can't understand. Trying to coexist with pig-headed fucktards who can't comprehend the amounts of bloody hatred you hold for their weak, fleshy body. You could kill them so easily.

Wanna know how school shootings are bred?

Doesn't matter. Trial by fire. You go out, you get yourself fucked up, you learn from it. ER's, mental institutions, forced drugs- I don't recommend that path to being a phoenix, no.

All I know is that I was surrounded by alot of people like YOU, I suppose. Coulda used some help or something, some basic things. Didn't, yeah. Here I am, some sort of fake sage running towards a goal booby-trapped to kill or maim.

"What about the posers, Ken?"

Try being a guiding light instead of an automatic flamethrower and you might find more of them to be pleasant around you. No, not with everyone of course. Just, see if you can find a way to enlighten them instead of shredding them apart.

I'm done with this. I've said what I wanted to. Fire back if you want. Comment, don't. Doesn't matter. I'm sure some of you have something to say.

Open fire.

Sayonara dudes, dudettes, heads of state and otherwise.

P.S. Statistics and Stuff. Word Count: Hot Topic; 8 times. "true goth", 13 times. Words beginning with "Satan", 20. Only one person listed what they were saying as an "opinion" subject to change. Only 2 posts were objective [out of 44]. Over 31 percent of the 44 posts in that thread were 70 percent or more colored with a stereotypical light color, id est purple, pink, etc. [including quotes]. There were 5 separate persons who had 70 percent or more of a stereotypical "light" color in their post [not including quotes]. 4 of them fit the "stereotype" of a hyper, crazy, teenaged/young woman- CHW, QA, Juu and InuyahsaLvr. That is 80 percent, by the way. Three of them engaged in speaking about stereotypes and some talked about "being an individual". These four members together posted 27 percent [as of 7:08 AM CST on September 25th] of all posts in that thread.

P.P.S. Man I'm tired. Sweet dreams, folks.
